@amiz just try gaviscon

OurLittlePumpkin · 10/06/2020 15:01

@amiz sorry hit post before done. Gaviscon works for me and is safe to take during pregnancy. You shouldn't need a prescription as it does do the job. Obviously failing that call your midwife

TangBloodyFastic · 10/06/2020 15:48

Hi all
Hope everyone is keeping ok and bumps are progressing nicely!!
Been away for a number of weeks as things are a little chaotic with a house renovation and working full time. I will be glad when the build complete and I can chill!

Any way a question about 16 wk appt.. MW was supposed to call me at 15:10, I'm assuming she is just running late 🙄 but wanted to check if anyone had not received their call and had received it on a different day?
My MW has not been the best at getting back to me but is lovely when she finally does. Just a bit frustrating as I set time aside at work to take the call and so far she's 45 mins late 😖

Hancock2020 · 10/06/2020 15:50

I had the same yesterday it was over an hour late, I just called the womens department to find out why she hadn't called, apparently she was running late which I could of told them 🙄

TangBloodyFastic · 10/06/2020 15:50

Oh and is anyone else suffering with sore boobs?? I thought it might have subsided by now my oh my gosh.. OUCH!! my nipples are SO sensitive even rolling over in bed makes me cringe

TangBloodyFastic · 10/06/2020 15:53

Thanks @Hancock2020 yeah a bit obvious really 🙄
It makes me wonder if the care would be so lax/laidback if it was normal circs or if this is purely down to covid... I can't seem to figure out why covid would be affecting community MW's though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hancock2020 · 10/06/2020 16:28

I have no idea, it's getting a bit tedious now though 🙄
I've got to have extra appointments for so much stuff and I bet I'll miss half if them because I'm not getting any letters on time, I had my call yesterday with my obstetrician but only knew about it because my midwife happened to mention it. Still haven't had contact about it.
My 12 week scan letter came after my scan, and something else which I cant remember also came after my appointment

Pink15 · 10/06/2020 16:48

My 16 week phone appointment was late too by about 40mins and that was 8:30am!! So I assumed I would be the first appointment! I wonder if they just call roughly any time as they think if it's by phone people will be more flexible?

MillieFTM · 10/06/2020 16:50

Yeah my 16 week call was early which equally caught me off guard as was in a Teams meeting online with work. Definitely think they assume time is flexible as it's just a phone call

mamayoucefka · 10/06/2020 17:09

I wont be having 16week appointment at all. My hospital has cancelled it due to covid. I wont even get a phone call. Next time I see my midwife at 20 weeks scan. And then at 28 weeks.🙄 hate these long gaps in between appointments.

Amiz · 10/06/2020 17:16

Hi thanks, currently taking gaviscon but going through it at a rate. And on the back it says not to take it for more than a week. I'm wondering if its going to cause constipation. Probably just call doc tomorrow as itll only get worsd

MrsR87 · 10/06/2020 17:16

I was told at my 12 week that my 16 week appointment would be over the phone and I would get a call the day before if anything changed. So I’m sat working from home waiting for the call on the day if my appointment and the call comes 30 mins later than I was expecting... asking where I was. They’d changed it to face to face but never told me. Luckily they got me in 30 mins later at the hospital but I was rushing around and stressing myself out. Made me feel like a fool even though it wasn’t my fault!

TangBloodyFastic · 10/06/2020 17:53

Still no call......😤😡

Fouryearslater · 10/06/2020 18:53

All I know is my 16 week appointment is a phone call, but I’m not sure if I’m meant to have booked anything 😬 I’ve emailed to ask but...

littlegem84 · 10/06/2020 20:17

@Amiz definitely worth a call. I suffered dreadfully last time and the doc prescribed me omeprizole which works a treat.

@Caldey11 I've had athlete's foot this pregnancy and the chemist said the cream was fine fo me to use in pregnancy- it knocked it on the head in two days.

Hancock2020 · 10/06/2020 21:23

I had to go to the docs today, and sat there for 30 mins over my appointment time in an empty surgery 🤔 how can they be late when its empty? So it's not just midwifery that's delaying things.

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 10/06/2020 22:18

I had my 16 week phone appointment today, a bit pointless if I'm brutally honest. Lasted all of 3 mins... but still it's ticked off the list. Lol.

Also got a phone call from cardiology (I have a condition that of made worse in pregnancy) who said they need to see me urgently in person to check me over. And seemed rather astonished that I wasn't getting any antenatal check ups given my history. They have said they will see me regularly and feedback to obstetrics instead.

Covid has had such an impact on medical services, and I can't see it being normal by November..

Looking forward to 20 week scan, it's always so nice to see the baby wriggling around

How exciting that some are there already!

JJxo · 10/06/2020 23:08

Hi all,

Keep popping on and off this thread like others lots going on at home and work so often forget to catch up on here.

My 16-week appointment was face to face however only so I could have a blood test which identifies babies blood type as I’m rhesus negative.

Got my 20 week scan next Friday! Has anyone who has their next NHS scan approaching heard if partners can come? Got everything crossed that hubby will be able to come along.

SMcG1 · 11/06/2020 09:20

@JJxo I just ha my 20 week scan yesterday and had to go alone. They actually seemed to be being more careful as the sonographer was wear a visor over the top of a face mask and they didn’t at my last scan

HarrietM87 · 11/06/2020 09:58

@JJxo mine is next Friday too and I definitely have to go alone.

On the plus side the baby’s movements have become really noticeable this week and DH has even felt them on the outside! So that’s helping him a lot. Still feels surreal to me and I’m starting to get a bit nervous about the scan.

MoreGinPlease2020 · 11/06/2020 10:27

My scan is tomorrow and I'm starting to really worry about it. I've also now started feeling movements properly this week so at least I'm pretty sure there's still something in there! 😂

Clove20 · 11/06/2020 11:24

Hi everyone!

Anyone suffering from hayfever?

I'm at a loss of what to do. I've had hayfever for 10 years now. In my last pregnancy, I had very minimal symptoms which was brill.

Any time the pollen count is high, I suffer terribly...to the point I lock myself in the bedroom with an air filter on all day. I'm also using bees wax around my eye bones and nose.

I have a nasal spray and eye drops but my GP says that's all they can do for me.

Any tips to survive the summer?

Hancock2020 · 11/06/2020 11:25

Now my cars broke! You just cant write the bad luck I'm having this year!

Pink15 · 11/06/2020 12:33

@Clove20 I think some anti histamines are safe in pregnancy? Sounds like your GP is being very over cautious. Failing that apparently honey from the local farmer rather than supermarket can help you body adjust to the local pollen! Never tried it myself though 😋

Pink15 · 11/06/2020 12:33

Good luck for all the 20 week scans!!

@Hancock2020 oh gosh poor you - one thing after another!! Any update on the job?
