@FilthyforFirth you’ll feel much better for the fluids. Take the quiet time and rest up xx

Pregnancy discrimination at its finest today! Turn up at my new job (told the agency I was pregnant before even agreeing to job)
For the boss not to know I'm pregnant, so didn't seem very happy. But did my 8 hours, and did them WELL, they were really happy with me and wanted to keep me however the agency told them 2 HOURS before I finished that I wouldn't be returning tomorrow because I'm pregnant and high risk!! They didn't even tell ME! I text the agency when I finished and I'm being ignored, they didn't even take my bank details yet so I'm not even going to be paid!! ffs!

Sammy161 · 09/06/2020 17:56

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind if I join.
I was on a December thread but had my scan on Friday and realised we were having twins!Grinthey have put my due date as the 6th Dec but as it's twins will likely be earlier when I'm 36-37 weeks so middle of November is looking more likely.

Any others expecting twins or more? I'll post my scan just because I keep looking at it to make sure it's real and not dreaming Halo

This seems ridiculous. I don’t really know much about employment laws but surely you’ve got to be paid for a days work! Also very unfair to get your hopes up like that. I was told by my midwife that I’m fine to keep working (teacher) and it’s currently the final trimester that’s the one that makes you high risk (unless you’ve got other underlying health conditions).
MrsR87 · 09/06/2020 18:19

@Sammy161
Welcome to the thread. Why lovely news for you and a beautiful scan photo!

Pink15 · 09/06/2020 18:21

@Hancock2020 that doesn't seem right! Show them the RCOG guidance - and even then ultimately I think it's a woman's right to have a choice.

@Sammy161 ahh congratulations!! How lovely for you to have twins - do you know if they're identical? I think there are quite a few twins on this group!

OurLittlePumpkin · 09/06/2020 18:42

@Sammy161 congratulations and welcome!! What exciting news. My due date is 12th November so similar time!

Hancock2020 · 09/06/2020 18:47

I'm going to give them to the morning and if I dont hear anything then I'll be emailing them telling them I'll be claiming discrimination against them.

On a different note, I had my 16 week obstetrician call today, so I've got to have cervical scans up to 24 weeks because I had some removed years ago so they have to make sure it wont make go.into labour early and also o will need extra scans from 26 weeks because both my kids were so big and small. Ds was 9lb8 and dd 5lb11oz so they just want to monitor the size of the baby.

Sammy161 · 09/06/2020 19:05

@Hancock2020 definitely complain it's discrimination they can't threat you like that it's awful

@Pink15 non identical twins, they have separate sacs and placenta. You should of seen my husbands reaction when I told him as he couldn't come to the scan with me! Hope he'll be able to attend the 20 week scan so we can find out their sex together.

SqidgeBum · 09/06/2020 19:12

@Hancock2020 that sort of thing drives me mad! Employers cannot discriminate and refuse to hire you based on you being pregnant. It's illegal to do so. You are not high risk unless you have a heart condition.

Hancock2020 · 09/06/2020 19:15

The job itself I'm not that fussed, because now I can barely move from the bed with back pain, and I'm exhausted and i only worked 8 hours. But i was on my hands and knees cleaning walls and chair legs etc, and cleaning toilets for hours.
It's the fact they said it wouldn't be an issue to then say it is and ignore me and presumably try not to pay me either!

Wise0wl · 09/06/2020 22:16

@FilthyforFirth so sorry you’re still having a rough time but you’re in the best place and hopefully will feel much better after a rest and some fluids.

@hancock2020 I echo what @SqidgeBum said - they can’t do that!

wannabebump · 09/06/2020 22:24

@FilthyforFirth hope you're staring to feel better and getting plenty rest x

Congratulations @Sammy161 💖
I’m having twins too! It’s a mad moment when you first see them on the scan isn’t it! Xxx

novicettc · 10/06/2020 08:53

QuoteSammy161 Congrats! I'm expecting non identical twins too! Due in early Nov so realistically it will be October when they arrive :-) I found out at an early scan at 8 weeks so have had a bit of time to digest the news. Most amazing feeling ever Smile

SMcG1 · 10/06/2020 11:32

Had my 20 week scan today and everything looks good with the baby. It’s a boy! I had a feeling it was anyway not that there’s any real way to know. They found that I have a low lying placenta but she said that usually sorts itself. I’ve to have another scan at 32 weeks just to make sure it has moved. Has anyone else been told they have this or had it in a previous pregnancy?

Caldey11 · 10/06/2020 11:51

Does anyone have any natural remedies for curing athletes foot? I only have a little bit and am keen to try to get rid of it before resorting to creams.

@SMcG1 Congratulations on your 20 week scan. I have read that the placenta grows as the baby moves so it should be out of the way before birth.

Pink15 · 10/06/2020 12:08

@SMcG1 glad your scan went well :)

@Caldey11 I'm not sure but I think main thing is to keep foot very dry but the creams may be ok in pregnancy but probably check with pharmacist?

mamayoucefka · 10/06/2020 12:19

@SMcG1 I had a low placenta in my first pregnancy too. It sorted itself out by the time I had my 32 weeks scan. Although they did tell me to take it easy and avoid carrying heavyweights etc

HarrietM87 · 10/06/2020 12:26

@SMcG1 it almost certainly will move up as your uterus expands (the placenta itself doesn’t move but your uterus will get bigger and hopefully move it away from the cervix). I’ve had a couple of friends with this. For one by 32 weeks it had moved away and she had a natural birth. For the other it didn’t move (placenta previa) and she had a planned c section. That is by far the rarer outcome though and either way it’s great they’ve picked it up as undiagnosed placenta praevia can be really dangerous.

SMcG1 · 10/06/2020 13:01

It’s good to hear that it should move up. Plus I get an extra scan which is nice Grin

Fouryearslater · 10/06/2020 13:47

@FilthyforFirth I hope you’re feeling better this morning x

Hancock2020 · 10/06/2020 14:19

I feel like my pregnancy is being stolen from me, with all this covid crap, work and home situation and persistent lady infections I just feel miserable. I'm not able to just relax and enjoy this time. I feel so exhausted mentally and physically

Amiz · 10/06/2020 14:43

Has anyone had anything prescribed for intergestion yet. My bump is riding high and everytime I eat I end up with reflexus
