My 20 week scan is on the 12th really excited to see baby again, just gutted DH cannot come too. We are going to book a private scan at some point so he can enjoy seeing baby probably aiming for 27 ish weeks? Not finding out the sex though this is DC 3 so going for a surprise.

Hoping for a water birth at midwife led unit , DC 2 was born in 3 hrs and was suggested home birth for this baby but I just really didnt fancy it.
Midwife led unit is only around 15 min away if traffic is ok so hoping to make it there!!

@MrsR87 just curious as I work in a secondary school too, were you told you have to go in or was it your choice? how many days are you going in?
Also, I bought some maternity tights from boohoo which were quite cheap... and really thick. They lasted me from 20 weeks until 38 weeks in my last pregnancy. I am guessing if you get a bigger size they might be quite uncomfortable and not stay up?

They have been very good with people who can’t go in. Someone in my team is shielding and hasn’t been in at all for key workers and isn’t expected to go in for year 10 either. However, my midwife said that I’m good to work until at least my third trimester, which is when it can become an issue so there’s no reason for me not to go in at the minute. The school is great with stuff like this though so I’m sure they would be understanding if I raised it as an issue but I’m happy going in at the minute, there’s no reason not to.
I am expected to be in for one whole week for Year 10. The subjects are working on a rota basis. On the weeks when I’m not teaching year ten, I’ll be doing my usual one or two days of key worker provision in a different area of the school..

Natalie654321 · 07/06/2020 18:15

Mrsr87 thank you for replying!! I have asked my school but they haven't got back in touch yet. It's good that your school have been so supportive, hopefully they will be the same with me!! Hope your year 10s aren't too crazy after not seeing each other for 12 weeks 😂😂 oh the joys of teaching teenagers!

Natalie654321 · 07/06/2020 18:18

@mrsr87 this is sarahlovescoffee... Seems like my new username hasn't updated on my phone!!

MrsR87 · 07/06/2020 18:40

I think they are going to be crazy when they see me walk in with a very clear baby bump! I didn’t even know I was pregnant the last time I saw them 🥰😂

Hancock2020 · 07/06/2020 18:53

I was looking forward to going back to work with a bump after being off for so long, but I guess that's not happening now 😔 only dh and mother will see my bump which is sad

FlashesOfRage · 08/06/2020 00:52
@FlashesOfRage mine just feel so swollen! It's so hard to explain, sore and swollen, to the point of I cant wipe any more I just have to gently dab dry 🙊 and when I pee it feels like theres loads of downward bearing pressure.
I've just finished a course of amoxicillin as docs thought maybe a uti but I feel like I should go back (for the 4th time now!) I just worry they are going to start getting pissed off with me because they cant find anything wrong but it's not in my head, unless it's literally just pregnancy. But I dont remember being this uncomfortable with my other pregnancies!
Yes yes to downward pressure 👌

I’m having exactly as you describe; when I go for an ordinary pee it feels like there is a lot of pressure and discomfort “downwards”. It feels weird and made me worry that something was going wrong with my cervix so I ended up getting checked. It wasn’t anything to do with cervix or anything obvious 🤷‍♀️ So I’m just trying to not worry about it 😬

The best way I can describe the swollen-ness 🙈 if your were ultra sexually aroused and your whole lady area gets engorged with blood and plump (as if I just said that), it’s a bit like that...

OurLittlePumpkin · 08/06/2020 09:25

My 20 week scan is June 29th, I'll be almost 21 weeks. Both my scans have been at the back end of the recommended timescale, so it's made it seem like a slightly a longer wait. Cannot wait to find out the sex!! I'm convinced our baby is a boy, DH is on the fence but swaying more to a boy. My parents both think it's a girl. It's so fun to hear what other people think!

Does anyone else have a retroverted uterus? I'm suffering with awful lower back pains. Thinking about trying yoga? I really want my uterus to flip forward but not sure when and if that'll happen.

Pink15 · 08/06/2020 09:41

@OurLittlePumpkin my scans always seem to be the later end as well! But I guess after the 20 scan if all well then that's the last scan so I guess thinking of the positives I guess it's a shorter wait between the last scan and birth 🤣

OurLittlePumpkin · 08/06/2020 09:44

@Pink15 totally true 🤣

HarrietM87 · 08/06/2020 09:50

Good point @Pink15! My 12 week scan was just before 14 weeks which was so annoying as we wanted to tell people. This time I’ll be 20 weeks on the dot.

In my first pregnancy my hospital offered a scan at 35 weeks as part of a study they were doing into the placenta which was great (and also reassuring as they said my placenta was in really good shape). They’ve cancelled this now because of covid so I think I’m going to book a private scan for a similar time. It’s too long to wait otherwise!

Pushingnic · 08/06/2020 10:51

@OurLittlePumpkin oh my 20 week scan is also 29th June! Cannot wait! And also can’t wait to find out the sex!! I’m also thinking I’m having a boy lol x

Becca65 · 08/06/2020 12:27

I've got my 20 week scan on exactly 20 weeks - 25th June. I'm hoping they will have relaxed the no partner rule by then, otherwise will probably book a private scan. I've been having extra cervical length scans fortnightly, so feels a bit excessive to book another, but it's our first and I feel like my other half is missing out.

Becca65 · 08/06/2020 12:30

We don't think we're going to find out the sex, but I don't know whether I might feel a bit more bonded with it if I knew what it was. Or whether this might come anyway when I can feel it, so wait for now? anyone had any past experience of this?

Jen1311 · 08/06/2020 12:31

@Pushingnic @OurLittlePumpkin I’m also the 29th June!! I will be 20 + 2 but I’ve also booked a private scan on Father’s Day as a surprise for my husband where we will find out the sex together so we will find out a week before. It is almost breaking me not saying anything to him or anyone else! He is on a 3 week count down but it’s really 2 😬 Going to put the booking confirmation in a Father’s Day card as his present. It’s his first baby and I feel so bad he can’t be at the hospital scans.

Pushingnic · 08/06/2020 12:39

@jen1311 aww what a lovely idea! We are also upset that husband can’t attend any scans he literally hasn’t been to any and I’m being seen fortnightly since 12 week scan! Also we are so close as on 29th June at 20 week scan I’ll be 20+3 so only 1 day ahead of you!

Hancock2020 · 08/06/2020 12:46

Yey I got a job!!! So that means we can actually still carry on buying our house!! I'm so glad we held back and didn't withdraw!! 😃🥳😃🥳

HarrietM87 · 08/06/2020 12:48

@Becca65 we didn’t find out with our first child but we have found out this time. Having a surprise first time round was really important to me and I’m glad we did. But DH wanted to know so I let him have his way this time! We also thought it might help explain to our son.

I have to say it has made no difference to whether I feel bonded or not. The sex is only one tiny thing, and tbh the baby is still completely unknown! I wonder about what and who she will look like - will she have curly or straight hair, what colour will her eyes be, what her personality will be like, whether she’ll be similar or different to her brother. We didn’t have a sex preference so it was never going to be a relief/disappointment. The one thing it’s been useful for is halving the name options.

DH didn’t feel he bonded with DS before his birth and I think he thought it would help, but he still doesn’t feel especially bonded tbh. I think it’s harder for men in general and as long as it comes when baby is here it’s fine.

Hancock2020 · 08/06/2020 12:51

Although DH seems pissed off that I got a job and he hasnt 🤔🤷‍♀️

Clo1997cc · 08/06/2020 13:06

Just a quick message on people asking about private scans, I had one at window to the womb yesterday and it was amazing! Super professional and me and my partner were the only ones in the building, you wait in the car until your appointment time and then you can both go in, the scan was a good 10 minutes and we heard the heartbeat and found out the gender of our baby!
It was amazing just to share that experience with my parter and it was only £60 so was so worth it, and we got the little heartbeat bear with her heartbeat in it!

SqidgeBum · 08/06/2020 13:09

That's fantastic @Hancock2020 !! What have you found? Amazing for these economic times. I am sure DH will find one soon

Pink15 · 08/06/2020 13:17

@Hancock2020 congratulations! Glad you've had some good news x

@Clo1997cc ahh sounds lovely 🥰 what gender are you having, or are you keeping it a secret?

Pinktruffle · 08/06/2020 13:21

@Hancock2020 I'm having issues with my lady parts but different to you. I'm having lots of shooting pains, its stops for a couple of days then is back for a day or two. I believe it's 'lightning crotch', though yesterday I had pain round my bumhole too. I am worried about my cervix shortening but I've had no contact with my midwife since April though I've so just hoping I can speak to someone about it at my 16 week appointment.

@FilthyforFirth we are scan twins again, mine is also on 13th July.

Though I'm a FTM, after a traumatic previous miscarriage, I really think I want an elective C-section though I'm not sure my hospital will allow me to have one but I am terrified of a vaginal birth.

Clo1997cc · 08/06/2020 13:23

@Pink15 I'm having a little girl!! I had a inkling it would be a little girl but it was confirmed yesterday! Are you finding out the gender aswell?Smile
