@Kodiak83 ah I see, thank you!😊

@ChampooPapi congratulations on your test coming back as low risk, a big relief... and finding out you're having baby girls! how wonderful💖

Sheera1 · 14/05/2020 22:51

New on here as been lurking on other threads.

Had 12 week scan today which was 13 weeks but measuring 12 +4 I think she said. Due date 21st Nov (again I think as a bit of a blur).
Been very cautious so far due to mmc a couple of years ago at 12 weeks. Might relax a little but prob not lol. My first and only child at the mo is 10 on Wed!

Pe4nutsmum · 14/05/2020 22:54

@ManDubsMum yeah my midwife told me. It is not on the NHS and I had to go private I'm booked in for 29th and it's costing £400

Sheera1 · 14/05/2020 22:59

I know NIPT is not free outside of England but sounds like it isn't on the NHS everywhere. I read that normally it is done in England if NT result is high risk before and amnio but all places seem to do things differently.

I am a bit older too so paid for it and hopefully will get tests back tomorrow or Monday 🤞

@ChampooPapi I love your post about the female dominantion in your house. Congrats of the twin girls.

Not sure if I will find out the gender. I did with ds.

Amymone · 14/05/2020 23:03

@ManDubsMum ah well, sounds like you've just been lucky! Perhaps they're running trials or something

Louise2490 · 14/05/2020 23:38

Jumping on! 13 weeks and 5 days and due 14th November with DC2 Smile

Eskdale2004 · 15/05/2020 06:52

I feel as though my sickness is slowly going. I seem to get a couple of days without and then the odd day with. I always wake up feeling dreadfully sick though. I don’t know whether it’s hormones or the fact I’m just hungry. I’m pleased it’s starting to disappear though!

ChampooPapi · 15/05/2020 06:56

@Snowwhite2020 all the love right back at you. You are so wonderful on this thread, we love you and I speak for everyone when I say this in sure 💜 I'm so sorry your feeling so rough, it still comes and goes with me, had some really good days, then a terrible one yesterday where I was actually sick. It's taking the pee now isn't it! It feels like we've been living like wretched creatures for months now and we deserve a break dam it!

Yes the harmony is definitely not free. Trust me, If it was I would have found out 💪🧐. You can pay through your NHS trust if you are not considered high risk and then it is cheaper, like 250 pounds instead of 400/500. The money gets reabsorbed into the trust and they don't scan as well, just take your bloods and I don't think they give you the choice of gender. It's certainly not too early for that though as it's a dna blood test so from ten weeks they can tell the sex. So really not sure what that was all about @ManDubsMum.

@ManDubsMum oh they emailed me the results six days later so it was a really fast turn around. Depends where they send the results but most clinics send them to London rather then America these days so yours should be in by next week

@sunnygirl123 fantastic photo 🙌👣 gorgeous! I'm will inspect 🧐

ChampooPapi · 15/05/2020 07:04

@sunnygirl123 I'm going with girl, from all the skull theory threads as well as mine all looking similar to yours , but then they are all fairly similar at 12 weeks in the womb 😆 they all look like babies, lol!.

But I'm sticking to this one, I have strong girl vibes 💪💜

Jumping on! I'm waiting for my 12 week scan impatiently through the post 😆 10 weeks tomorrow! X

kkr168 · 15/05/2020 07:21

Those of you that have had or are having nipt testing, what were your reasons for doing so?
It wasn't mentioned at my booking in appointment, I just assumed if It came back high risk at my dating scan next week then it would be something to look into. I will be 12+2 at the scan, so will have a week or so to get tested before the 14 week deadline.

ChampooPapi · 15/05/2020 07:21

@BDB18 welcome 👣🙌. How long have you been waiting? Hopefully it'll land on the mat today but if not by Monday maybe give your midwife a call

OP posts:
BDB18 · 15/05/2020 07:29

@ChampooPapi hey lovely!!! So I've only been waiting 2 days 😂😂 like I said VERY impatient haha! It's my second I have a 2yo little girl, if I worked my dates out right I should be due early December! So exciting. How are you? How far gone are you? Thanks for your warm welcome 💕

ChampooPapi · 15/05/2020 07:30

@kkr168 I'll link you a thread about the nipt testing that has all the information on. My reasons were similar to most being that the NHS test is not a dna test so not particularly accurate being only about 79 percent for down syndrome for example. Where as the nipt is a dna test so 99% accuracy. The NHS test only takes age into consideration so if my measurements were ok then I would automatically be low risk even if my baby was effected as I'm only 33 (no spring chicken I know but not considered a geriatric mother)

It's bloody expensive though and currently because of covid your only options really are private clinics but it will be easy to book through these. It all depends on whether you would terminate basically. I know I would so I wanted to know before 20 weeks as to terminate at that point would be even harder then at the 11 weeks when I had the test.

I'll link the thread, I put it up on our last thread and it has all the information on it so have a read. It's a very personal choice obviously

ChampooPapi · 15/05/2020 07:31

@BDB18 yes I was the same! The impatience at this time is off the scale isn't it!. That's a really perfect gap between your little one and this new baby. I reckon the scan letter will come really soon, usually they are just a few days ☺️

NIPT Harmony test thread-

There's a few really good clear informative posts on it. I didn't have the test myself with my other two girls but wanted a much more certain early result this time around. There is also the panorama test which tests the individual twin dna, and the Iona. They are all versions of the nipt. The panorama is the most accurate for all three conditions tested for

My nhs twelve week scan isn't until the week after next when I'll be 13+4. Do you think that's a bit late? I do have my private harmony booked in next week which I'm a bit anxious about not just because haven't seen baby since 8 weeks but also worried they won't be able to get the bloods. When I had my mmc two people tried and in the end they had to wait until I was under anaesthetic. I have really bad veins.

ChampooPapi · 15/05/2020 07:42

@kkr168 also in the UK your only high risk of it's 1/150. Where as in France for example they consider you high risk even if your results are 1/250. Even of you are 1 in 200 they are not going to nipt you unless you pay. But It really all depends on what your views are on tfmr (termination for medical reasons) or having a baby with down syndrome (the other syndromes are very unlikely to result in a live birth). It is deeply personal and much debated. Sally Philipps did a program about the test on the BBC call 'a world without downsyndrome'. Because really that is what the test is for when you book it down. Her son has down syndrome and she campaigns for better understanding about the condition.

My uncle in law had the condition and lived with my partners family so we are well informed about it to that extent. But there is a spectrum with down syndrome as well from very high functioning with few physical issues to the other end of the scale.

Hey @skinnyhotchoc, big hug from me lovely. So happy to see you on here after we both went through so much with our last pregnancies. Your on the home straight now girl, you've got this. But I know how much anxiety builds up to this scan, god I was a mess, a complete wreck. 13.4 is absolutely fine and actually they will get really really accurate measurements at that slightly later time. Anything before 14 weeks is fine 👍. I'll be twelve and a half myself. What day is your harmony test? Make sure you lay down, as if they try and take blood in the chair, and just pump that hand as much as possible!

Kodiak83 · 15/05/2020 07:48

@kkr168 I didn’t get NIPT with last two pregnancies (30&33 at conception) but I’m 37 this time round and geriatric (!) and agree with comments above re the accuracy of the nhs downs screening. I was also keen to avoid going to the hospital for a scan given the current situation. So both coupled together made sense to go from private NIPT scan and bloods. Obviously I’ll have to go to the hospital eventually anyway but it was an additional way in which I justified the cost to myself!

excitednerves · 15/05/2020 07:50

Hello. Sorry to be a downer but looking for some reassurance. I’m 12+2 and woke up with light bleeding. 😢 it’s not loads, I’m not in pain and no clots which I think are all good signs. My scan is on Monday anyway so I’m highly doubtful anyone will see me before then.

Anyone else had anything like this and it turned out to be ok?

skinnyhotchoc · 15/05/2020 07:54

@ChampooPapi thank you. I'm really happy to see everything is well with you and so exciting to be having twins!! I'm on the same page as you, we really want to know everything is ok as I wouldn't like to leave it until 20 weeks if I had to terminate so forking out for the harmony seems the best way. I've not let on to my midwife though as she seemed to think that having the harmony meant not booking me in for the combined. I know the harmony overrides it but I'd rather get two sets of results

skinnyhotchoc · 15/05/2020 07:56

@excitednerves I was looking through my pregnancy diary with my first the other day and I'd had bleeding at 12 weeks and they brought scan forward. All was fine. I think you can get bleeding around the time your period would have been due
