My daughter is expecting her first child. Knows it's a girl. She loves the name Dramula. I'm conflicted as I think its made up. Should I say something?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DrWAnker · 09/05/2020 07:44

Just let it be for now. Hopefully she will realise that it's terrible.
Pregnancy hormones can do bad things to your sensibilities sometimes.

Soubriquet · 09/05/2020 07:44

You can’t really say anything but yeah it’s awful

It’s like someone misspelled Dracula

Birdy1991 · 09/05/2020 07:44

Not going to lie, I look at it and think ‘Dracula’. Never heard that name before!

MsChatterbox · 09/05/2020 07:45

I agree with pp thought of Dracula straight away.

GaaaaarlicBread · 09/05/2020 07:45

Made me think of Dracula immediately

20viona · 09/05/2020 07:45

Awful will no doubt we mistaken for Dracula.

Sirzy · 09/05/2020 07:46

Yup I immediately thought Dracula too. That’s the kind of name that’s setting a child up for years of teasing.

Russell19 · 09/05/2020 07:46

Dracula definitely

CoolNoMore · 09/05/2020 07:47

It does sound like a treatment for vampirism that's gentle on sensitive stomachs... any chance she's winding you up?!

Sparklfairy · 09/05/2020 07:47

Yeah Dracula. And if she has anything other than perfect teeth when she's a child she will be teased mercilessly Sad

MadamShazam · 09/05/2020 07:48

Your daughter is a maniac! You have to say something.

PotteringAlong · 09/05/2020 07:49

I think she’s a mumsnettter and has taken the advice to tell people a really awful name so when the baby is born you’re so pleased it’s not called the terrible name you don't moan about the real name.

AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea · 09/05/2020 07:50

God, it's awful. It's not a name (is it?) and it looks like Dracula.

Nquartz · 09/05/2020 07:51

I thought of a 'wee dram' Confused

I'm not sure it's even a word let alone a name!

BeMorePacific · 09/05/2020 07:52

I personally wouldn’t say anything. It’s your daughter’s choice.
Although if you’re asked your opinion I would give feedback kindly xxx

Selfsettling3 · 09/05/2020 07:53

Agree it’s awful but you can’t say anything.

Shalom23 · 09/05/2020 07:53

I really do have to say something. These kind of conversations should be face to face but that is not possible right now.

OP posts:
MsChatterbox · 09/05/2020 07:57

Maybe show her the thread 😁

middleoftheroad · 09/05/2020 07:58

I thought your post said Dracula. Poor kid.

Ninkanink · 09/05/2020 08:02

Oh god no, that’s horrible...

I would have to say something too.

HannaYeah · 09/05/2020 08:02

Dracula + Pamela

RoLaren · 09/05/2020 08:02

How about Primula? Less bitey, more flowery and more, er ... cheesy.

redwoodmazza · 09/05/2020 08:03

I thought Dracula too.
Where did she get it from?

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 09/05/2020 08:04

Oh, darling, I’ve just been on a popular parenting website, and I noticed a thread about baby names mentions the name you have chosen. Perhaps you could look at it to see what people think about the name. Er... odd that it’s a grandmother posting it... just like me really. What a coincidence!

Lllot5 · 09/05/2020 08:04

Hopefully she’s winding you up

Mine did the the same.
