My daughter is expecting her first child. Knows it's a girl. She loves the name Dramula. I'm conflicted as I think its made up. Should I say something?

I thought Dracula as well!

OneKeyAtATime · 09/05/2020 08:05

Dracula with all the drama

sel2223 · 09/05/2020 08:06

Sorry, I see Dracula too 🙈

iMatter · 09/05/2020 08:07

Made up surely?

Drama queen with big fangs

Or a whisky drinking vampire

Pinkblueberry · 09/05/2020 08:07

Drama
Dracula

Poor child.

seekingwaxwings · 09/05/2020 08:10

I can't believe she stole my baby name! Now I'll have to go with my second choice, Frankemstein

TorkTorkBam · 09/05/2020 08:11

Dramula is Dracula's mum to me.

Shalom23 · 09/05/2020 08:11

She likes the NN Ully.

I know it sounds like a joke but what if she goes ahead with this?

I thought Dracula.

middleoftheroad · 09/05/2020 08:17

OP, then you have to say something.

Ineedabreak19 · 09/05/2020 08:19

Show her this thread, she needs to know what people think of her name. She's obviously not thought this through clearly has she? The baby will grow up to go to school and then college/University and them work with Dramula as its name.

Shalom23 · 09/05/2020 08:19

Middle thank you but would that not be very harsh. Shes waited years for this pregnancy.

It’s not your business. You need to start being a grandmother as you mean to go on. Her child, her name choice, your job to be supportive.

Bobbiepin · 09/05/2020 08:22

Think of the worst nicknames and start referring to baby as it.

AJPTaylor · 09/05/2020 08:31

How far along is she?

Rhianna1980 · 09/05/2020 08:33

I don’t buy the argument: oh it’s your daughters choice, break it gently to her, you might hurt her feeling etc... what about the child’s feeling when he starts to get bullied at school because his name sounds like Dracula? Talk about giving your child a rubbish start in life (face palm) And this applies to all this awkward/easy target bullying names that people name their kids.
I’m not giving bullies an excuse to bully because it’s unacceptable on any level but let’s not pretend it doesn’t happen.

Shalom23 · 09/05/2020 08:35

Shes 27weeks. A much wanted pregnancy after years of trying.

Either your or the baby’s father really do need to say something. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind

UnderLockdown · 09/05/2020 08:39

Sorry but this child would be called Dracula at school

ShambalaHambala · 09/05/2020 08:39

Awful. You have to say something. This child will be bullied at school.

Shalom23 · 09/05/2020 08:46

Shes planning on the shortened version Ully, is this better?

OP posts:
middleoftheroad · 09/05/2020 08:47

The harshest thing would be saddling this child with that name. It's not fair.

I had a surname that begged for teasing. I was bullied because of it. It was hurtful and as I got older I lied about my surname if I met somebody new. It was nothing like Dramula though. I dread to think what they will go through.

Colouringinbook · 09/05/2020 08:49

She's got to be winding you up.

JudyCoolibar · 09/05/2020 08:58

Nope.
