Dramula as name?

My daughter is expecting her first child. Knows it's a girl. She loves the name Dramula. I'm conflicted as I think its made up. Should I say something?

You really, really can't let her do this!

Mullikins · 09/05/2020 11:50

Oh dear. No. It's like Dracula and formula, and above all else sounds like some kind of cleaning or DIY product.

I don't like made up names anyway but can appreciate that some made up names sound attractive. However, Dramula doesn't even have the benefit of sounding good.

Has she verbally told you the name or was it by text? I'm hoping that it's just some weird inexplicable autocorrect 😆

Mullikins · 09/05/2020 11:52

Omg...maybe it is autocorrect and she actually means Dracula 😂

Motherontheedge1 · 09/05/2020 11:55

Sorry . I though Dracula too. x

lynsey91 · 09/05/2020 11:55

You definitely have to say something. There are some poor children with some pretty awful names but that has to be one of the worst.

I pretty much dislike made up names anyway. You never used to be able to call your child anything you like so I don't get why you can now

ODFOx · 09/05/2020 12:02

Shame it's not a boy, she could have used Balonz!
Good luck OP.

Has she forgotten that she’s naming an actual person who will grow up and have to use this name for the rest of their life? Tell people their name, use it professionally, write it on forms. And go through school with it.

Also, nicknames change, she may well give herself her own or other children will. Your DD needs to remember that.

In years to come her daughter may well be cursing her for lumbering her with this name.

And yes it does sound like a misspelling of Dracula. Which is something school kids who tease will probably pick up on. Don’t give them an excuse.

Sounds like something JML would sell.
You sure she's not winding you up?

drcb83 · 09/05/2020 12:58

Sounds like a wart treatment!!

CaptainBlunderpants · 09/05/2020 14:48

It does sound like a Scottish vampire.

HauntedGoatFart · 09/05/2020 14:52

Dracula's high-maintenance, high-drama cousin.

AnneOfCloves · 09/05/2020 14:56

She’s winding you up.

With our first we got sick of people asking us about names (we preferred to have the baby and decide then) so we said “if it’s a girl, Dolly, if it’s a boy, Elvis.”

Remarkable numbers of people thought were serious.

MummytoCSJH · 09/05/2020 15:04

I hope she's joking. I also saw this and thought you'd misspelled Dracula. Horrific!
