@ourlittlepumpkin I've recently been to the docs with my head. It is similar, pain over my left eye (similar to migraines I've had in the past) that doesn't shift. They weren't overly concerned this early on but I was told paracetamol and rest are pretty much the only things you can do and obviously get it checked out if it continues. Hope it goes soon Smile

Murphy1999 · 23/05/2020 08:32

@OurLittlePumpkin I would take the paracetamol it will help ease it ☺️

Fouryearslater · 23/05/2020 08:32

@ourlittlepumpkin paracetamol is safe to take so I’d take it. Well, I would if it hadn’t made me gag last time and therefore puke 🙄😄

Nobody wants to be miserable on their birthday.

Oatmilk1 · 23/05/2020 08:34

@OurLittlePumpkin

A few times this week I have also had a throbbing eyebrow headache. Overnight I just try to sleep through it. For daytime, I suggest just taking the paracetamol and enjoying your birthday weekend. Or try a slice of cake first and see if that cures it Smile

Govts are very conservative these days about medication in pregnancy and the NHS website says paracetamol has no known negative impacts. Some midwives even recommend it for early labour pain!

Happy birthday!

Fouryearslater · 23/05/2020 08:35

@littlegem84 - can I join the fb group now? I don’t want to just add you and you wonder who I am!

In my previous mumsnet group, the first post in each new post had a list of names and due dates. Fair okay to the person who created that list!

seventhrow · 23/05/2020 08:39

So yesterday I ate 2/3rds of a pack of Haribo and had carbonara pasta for dinner, didn’t do any exercise.... and I seem to be losing weight. In the last week I’ve lost a pound and a half. So only put on 2lbs overall. Maybe I’m losing some of the water bloat??? I was 8st6lbs to start with so losing weight is really going the wrong way. Bit worried.

@ourlittlepumpkin - sorry you’re feeling rubbish on a birthday weekend! apart from sleep and water, I only have two ways to get rid of a headache without paracetamol 1) is sit/lie quietly without a phone and read a book until it goes away, and 2) get some fresh air and go for a walk. Maybe just take half a paracetamol if you don’t want to take a whole? To take the edge off.

Thanks guys you've made me feel more at ease with taking the paracetamol and seeing if that'll fix it, love that everyone agrees so this makes it easier. I'm not against it I just work myself up so much and tell myself it'll hurt baby (irrational I know!!). Love the cake idea too but won't be here till Tuesday! Birthday isn't till Tuesday so we're celebrating this weekend as I have to work boo!!
Have just called hubby who is downstairs (does anyone else do this when their husbands can't hear them shout for stuff 😂😂) and he's bringing some up as we speak. Wishing you all a fab bank hols!!

HarrietM87 · 23/05/2020 08:59

@seventhrow if you’ve stopped exercising as much you could be losing muscle weight? And I assume you ate more in the day than just pasta and haribo? I wouldn’t worry too much as long as you’re eating well.

seventhrow · 23/05/2020 09:06

@harrietm87 oooh that could be a point. Thank you ! I’ve not been running so much due to the stupid low blood pressure and have been walking instead. Yes, definitely ate more than that!!! I’m normally a pretty healthy eater so I guess it just boggles me that I’m eating foods I wouldn’t normally eat and am losing. There’s no info online that really helps because it’s all about losing weight in first trimester or it started out as a larger lady. I’m reading these week by week “your body your baby at week X” and by now (week 16) it’s all “don’t worry about gaining weight” and nothing about not really gaining and not really showing. Wigging me out!!!!!

Hlb278 · 23/05/2020 09:07

@OurLittlePumpkin I struggled through week 15 with dreadful headaches that would last for days, and didn’t want to take paracetamol. Have you tried 4head? It really helped me! You can get it from any supermarket and it leaves a lovely soothing tingle on your head that definitely took the edge off. Happy birthday weekend!Flowers

OurLittlePumpkin · 23/05/2020 09:15

I will look into getting some thanks @Hlb278 👍😁thank you!!!

littlegem84 · 23/05/2020 10:16

@fouryearslater of course you can! Just add m and I'll send you an invite Smile

Oatmilk1 · 23/05/2020 11:06

@seventhrow

The scales are funny things, right? They are just a tiny part of the story.

I have been kidding myself that I have only gained 1 - 1.5kg in my 15 weeks when I know for sure that I lost muscle when I stopped strength training (because of lockdown not pregnancy) and the clear belly growth suggests weight gain! Not particularly worried about it though and have restarted strength training so expecting more weight gain to show on the scales.

I have found that not drinking alcohol also allows me to eat more than I normally would without consuming excess calories. For the first few weeks my husband thought my eating was insanely large, but it was within the calories I was burning. Just helps if I don't have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner!

Really dont worry about not gaining weight right now or not showing yet. Every body is different. Your baby is getting all the nutrients it needs from you and weighs almost nothing (just a few hundred grams)!

Pink15 · 23/05/2020 11:26

I've not really gained any weight either yet although am starting to get a little bump but maybe I'm loosing muscle like you said @HarrietM87 as I'm spending a lot more time in the house.

I joined the Facebook group but seems very full on and some pretty intense stuff on there. I might observe a bit but defo will mainly stick to here!!!

LozEliza · 23/05/2020 12:22

I've not gained weight (or a bump) yet either but I did lose half a stone in the first tri due to sickness.

We've just been for our gender scan it was so amazing for DH to get to see the baby totally worth it 😍

We're finding out at 4pm with all our family on Zoom!

NatalieH2220 · 23/05/2020 12:54

@LozEliza How exciting!! Keep us posted Wink

I've put on 4/5lb already. Not the best start but nausea has put me off almost everything other than carbs. Now it's starting to ease, I really need to make an effort to eat better!

wannabebump · 23/05/2020 13:03

@LozEliza exciting! Keep us posted! So you have any incline after seeing the scan?x

Pink15 · 23/05/2020 13:13

@LozEliza eek so exciting!!! Do you have a feeling for what it might be?

LozEliza · 23/05/2020 14:26

@wannabebump @Pink15 we weren't allowed to look for a lot of it so the bit we did see the baby was upright facing away from us so very hard to tell. I'm sure at the end of the scan I heard the sonographer accidentally say she though! I always thought it was a girl too based off nub theory predictions. We will see! It will be our first so neither of us mind. She took lots of pictures and did a little in 3D which they've sent to us on email but she said I can't look until after 😩

Pcosandpregnant · 23/05/2020 15:20

I received my screening results today. 1 in 100,000 chance for all 3 syndromes so I am very happy! It’s getting real now Grin

NatalieH2220 · 23/05/2020 15:49

@Pcosandpregnant That's a brilliant result, I thought my 1 in 17000 was good!

SMcG1 · 23/05/2020 16:15

Is anyone physically back at work? My boss phoned me earlier in the week asking about me going back as apparently the guidance is I’m fine to work until 28 weeks. I work on a hospital ward and would have to get public transport to get there so I’m very worried about going back and was just wondering if anyone else was in the same situation. I live in Scotland if that makes a difference.

SqidgeBum · 23/05/2020 16:27

I am a teacher. The current plan is I am going back to teach (secondary English, 40 kids a day) from the 8th of June.

From what I have seen your job should make provisions for social distancing and minimising contact with people, however in our jobs that's basically impossible, so they are just legally obliged to do a risk assessment. I am not sure much else can happen. I am not overly happy about going back but I am just going to wear a mask, use my hand sanitizer, wipe everything down, and avoid the kids like the plague.

Wigglebum87 · 23/05/2020 16:32

Been lurking for the last few weeks...

I'm currently 16+1 with our 1st. 12-week scan went well, just came back that I have slightly low PAPP-A, so taking aspirin on an evening. We had our 16-week appointment this week and heard the little wrigglers heartbeat, which was just amazing!

littlegem84 · 23/05/2020 17:08

@Wigglebum87 I also have low PAPP-A but as told there wasn't anything I could do. Were you told to take the aspirin as a direct result of that? I'm wondering if I should speak to a midwife.
