@wannabebump is that the nhs exemption card? As I have only just recieved mine, I am 12+4 and my midwife applied for it at 7+6!! I was also dismayed to see it isnt even a card anymore, it is just a letter. When did you apply for it? Fingers crossed it comes soon!

FilthyforFirth · 18/05/2020 19:31

@BuffaloCauliflower where are they from? As I expect to live in leggings, I am already big, size 16 sadly, so my regular clothes are already tight. It looks bump like though so at least I can blame it on being pregnant now! No one needs to know I'm not actually 6 months...

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/05/2020 19:49

@FilthyforFirth they’re from Love Leggings Smile

Can I ask, when you order maternity wear, do you go for the size you normally wear or a little bigger? I'm usually a size 8 but thinking if I continue to grow, I'm more likely to be a 10.... I've never ordered anything maternity before

HarrietM87 · 18/05/2020 20:13

@Pinktruffle it’s supposed to be your normal size, but that assumes you’ve only put weight on your bump! It also varies a bit between shops. I went up a size in my last pregnancy - 10 pre-preg to a 12 in mat clothes from all shops except H&M where I was a 14/16 - their sizing can be way off!

Might be worth ordering different sizes but looser side may be more comfy anyway.

Pinktruffle · 18/05/2020 20:30

Thank you, I'll give that a try. I was looking at stuff on H&M's website so I'll order a bit on the big side I think as well as my normal size.

I'm feeling a bit rubbish today, didn't sleep well last night and feel really shattered today. I had a nap and feel even worse! The wierd stitch-esque pain has carried on today though not as bad as yesterday and I feel like I've had some cramping today too. Hoping it's just baby making room and nothing to worry about. I'm going to try and make myself eat something and then go to bed I think.

Pink15 · 18/05/2020 20:46

At this rate I don't even know if I'll need maternity clothes 😭 feel like with lock down can get away with PJs and leggings and random bits!!!

Pinktruffle · 18/05/2020 20:50

I'm in a mens hoodie and some tracksuit bottoms. I haven't got much of a bump yet but these will do for a while. I don't like the pressure of the waistband on my belly so I do want some maternity bottoms but don't think I will bother with any tops of I can get away with it.

wannabebump · 18/05/2020 20:59

@FilthyforFirth I think that's different, are you in England? Scotland have free prescriptions so this is for dental treatment.

FireflyGirl · 18/05/2020 21:04

@wannabebump it's the midwives who issue them here. I had my 16-week appointment today by telephone, and the midwife said that they can request them online. Might be worth a chat with your dentist - they might be happy just seeing your notes or you signing the exemption part of the form. I hope you get treated soon - there's nothing worse than toothache, and I think it gets worse in pregnancy because your gums get more sensitive in pregnancy.

I'm suffering quite badly from headaches at the moment, and I now remember I had them with DS. My SPD is starting to kick in as well, so I'm awaiting a physio referral. I've still got the support belt from last time, but I can't remember how to use it.

FilthyforFirth · 18/05/2020 21:06

Ah I see @wannabebump. Yes I am in England. We have to pay for prescriptions and dental normally but get 2 years free when pregnant. I hope you get it sorted soon.

LozEliza · 18/05/2020 21:15

Is anyone else 15+ with almost zero bump :( (it's my first baby for reference)

LozEliza · 18/05/2020 21:15

15 weeks+*

wannabebump · 18/05/2020 21:23

@FireflyGirl I have 16 week appointment at the end of next week but I've been putting up with it because of covid etc and not wanting to be a pest, but I know it's coming! I've emailed the dentist anyway, will see what the say!

Hope you get your appointment through soon, if it's going to be a while because of covid etc, they could maybe give u an online tutorial for the belt you still have? X

wannabebump · 18/05/2020 21:25

@LozEliza no bump here either... im officially 15 weeks on Thursday going by dating scan, although after a private scan at the weekend, I'm measuring 15+1 today. I'm usually a size 12/14 and DH says my belly looks rounder but that's all! Under my belly button is really firming up though. X

Fouryearslater · 18/05/2020 22:01

The FW8 is the same form I imagine, but you just don’t need it for the prescription part in Scotland because you are already exempt from paying. Maybe that’s why the GP won’t do it?

Although the “card” (letter!) is only valid for a year after the baby’s due date (which can be extended if baby arrives after the due date), you don’t get a full two years. Or am I mistaken and paid for dentists when I didn’t need to?!

FilthyforFirth · 18/05/2020 22:31

Sorry no, you're right @fouryearslater I was rounding up! It is for your pregnancy and a year after your childs due date

Fouryearslater · 18/05/2020 22:48

Phew! I would have been well miffed 🤣

Pcosandpregnant · 18/05/2020 22:50

I’m 12+1 as I said and I am honestly massive but it’s just bloat. I lost a lot of weight last year and I’m quite tiny now and I think because of that my belly isn’t as tight if that makes sense? I think it will go down in a few weeks though and I’ll feel normal again for a while.

bluebell94 · 18/05/2020 23:01

@BuffaloCauliflower good to see you like the love leggings ones, I'd been looking online and debating getting them but always good to see someone who actually has and likes them! I got some boohoo maternity ones (just in sale a few weeks ago) they're too big still yet but so thin and see through so don't think they'll be much use

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/05/2020 23:09

@bluebell94 they’re lovely and soft and thick but not too thick. I’m living in legging right now so have to be good! I got petite 14s, 12 would probably be better (I’m usually a 12 but measured 14 on their calculator) but only slightly too big and more space for expansion

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/05/2020 23:12

Laying in bed and ran my hand over my abdomen, I can feel a specific lump really low down which must be where baby is. So weird! I got DH to come and feel and he could feel the spot right away so I’m not going mad 😂 I clearly assumed completely uniform bump expansion and that’s obviously not the case! Tummy is looking generally rounder and more curved from the bottom rather than just squishy tummy

futuredreams · 19/05/2020 00:10

I 100% can feel the baby moving. I'm trying to go to sleep and I'm getting these real feelings in my abdomen. Am I going mad? Just over 16 weeks now. I've felt this lighter in the past week but I'm lying here not able to sleep! Shock

wannabebump · 19/05/2020 03:58

@Fouryearslater maybe although nhs site says doctors will issue it. You're right about length of time, pregnancy and up to baby being a year old x

60sPony · 19/05/2020 07:37

They are pricey but I think the best leggings are the lululemon high waisted ones. They are so flattering and comfy on bump and aren’t just for pregnancy so you can wear them afterwards. Also have a pair from ASOS that are so saggy and see through I just wear them as PJ bottoms
