Hi all
I've just cut our grass, which is something I would normally do, so thought nothing of doing it.
I've just started with some twinges at the top of groin area on my left hand side.
It's twinging/discomfort for say 10 seconds and then maybe a minute of nothing
Could it just be ligament?
I haven't done anything strenuous but there was a bit of pushing and pulling of the mower, again nothing I wouldn't normally do

Not had any pain up to now so I'm a bit concerned I've done something but can't see how I have?

Pink15 · 17/05/2020 19:30

@TangBloodyFastic sounds like it could be round ligament pain? It's worse on moving apparently and on one side

TangBloodyFastic · 17/05/2020 19:32

Yeah I've sat down now but if I shuffle it starts again and only on the left hand side?

Is this something which was probably going to happen anyway but is this something I've done?

Haven't read anything on round ligament pain so not know anything about it. Google is never a good thing when looking at symptoms Confused

TangBloodyFastic · 17/05/2020 19:33

*or is this something I have done

AnxiousLady1 · 17/05/2020 19:59

@TangBloodyFastic Definitely sounds like round ligament pain. I get this off and on. Mainly on left side. It tends to happen when I roll over in bed sometimes, or if I cough or sneeze. Doesn't happen every day.

Caldey11 · 17/05/2020 20:09

@MeandSpud I noticed hip pain at night at about 12 weeks, I have now bought a pregnancy pillow which I wasn't planning to do until the third trimester! Apparently the hormone relaxin is the culprit for the painful joints as it is loosening the muscles so there is more pressure on the joints, it typically affects women in the second trimester so perhaps your hypermobility has made you more sensitive to it. I was sleeping with a pillow between my knees until I got the pregnancy pillow, that definitely helped. I hope you can find a way to get more comfortable.

@anon5555 I had bleeding during week 9 which freaked us out, nothing untoward was seen on the scan at the EPAU and the call I had with the consultant afterwards they determined it was most likely caused by a cervical ectropion, this is when some of the cells of the womb are found on the outside of the cervix. This can cause bleeding in pregnancy, although it doesn't sound like this is what you have, I thought this meant I would have the bleeding the whole time but luckily it only lasted about a week. Week 9 is when the placenta starts kicking in and making more progesterone, increasing blood flow so we think that must be the reason it happened. Any bleeding is really unsettling and to be honest even though it was weeks ago now, I still get anxious if I feel a bit damp down there, I don't think I'll full relax until the baby is here! I'm glad your baby is ok and really hope things setlle down for you.

SqidgeBum · 17/05/2020 20:11

I have also been getting round ligament pain. It's quite sharp and happens if I sneeze or cough, or just randomly get up off the couch. Its always one side at a time, just above my pelvis. I remember on my last pregnancy I had heaps of twinges and pain throughout as things moved around and grew.

TangBloodyFastic · 17/05/2020 20:25

Thank you @Pink15 @AnxiousLady1 @ @SqidgeBum just been in the bath and all seems to have settled down! Grin
Just read up and definitely sounds like that's what I had/have! Glad it's nothing to worry about
So great to have somewhere to go to ask these questions
Thank you!

LayTheTableMabel · 17/05/2020 21:04

@anon5555 how are you doing? I had bleeding weeks 7- 15 last time. Told I had miscarriage at one point. Looking at my beautiful sleeping bub who was born overdue 20 months ago. It was a hematoma so a little sac of blood which my body slowly dealt with. This pregnancy feels much less stressful!

Clove20 · 18/05/2020 00:02

Is anyone suffering from quiet severe heart burn?
I have had heartburn for a few weeks now and gaviscon didn't work, I am now on prescription meds for it.
But for the last two days I have been experiencing what feels like chest pain.
Not sure what else I can do

Pizzamyhart · 18/05/2020 00:30

Sorry this is tmi but is anyone else bleeding after sex. My sex drive has finally began to return, but after sex I have brown blood when I wipe. It's only a small amount when wiping. I can't remember if I had this in my previous pregnancy and I don't want to ring the midwife if it's something normal.

Addler · 18/05/2020 01:33

@Pizzamyhart I do sometimes, my doctor said it's normal and often irritation to the cervix. I've just been making sure I'm extra 'ready' and take it a bit slow to start. That seems to have helped a lot

Hancock2020 · 18/05/2020 07:21

Urgh, cant breathe, neighbour has loads of flowers under my window (which I have sown at night) so waking up all stuffed up.
Its going to be a long day

Hancock2020 · 18/05/2020 07:22
  • open, not sown
SqidgeBum · 18/05/2020 08:11

@Pizzamyhart the same happened to me when we had sex a few weeks ago. I had fresh blood spots when I wiped after it. However I have cervical polyps which can cause this (and apparent can cause trouble conceiving, which led me to throw caution to the wind and get pregnant two nights after I was diagnosed Hmm). My doctor didn't seem too concerned but said she may bring me in to investigate if it happens again.

FilthyforFirth · 18/05/2020 09:05

I had a lot of bleeding after sex in my first pregnancy, so much they told me I was having a miscarriage. I didnt and he was absolutely fine.

It is finally my scan this week! 4 days and counting. Excited to be coming to the end of the first trimester, which has been pretty horrendous for me. Good luck to any scans today.

Murphy1999 · 18/05/2020 09:13

Hey everyone been scrolling through this thread for a while, I am due the 23rd November and couldn’t be more excited but I am here to ask some advice, I have been struggling with uti a lot and have come across a website that sells immune boosters which obviously help with the utis, I was wondering if anyone had used these before or would/wouldn’t recommend them ? They are a little shot off juice and it does say it only contains organic oranges and organic tummeric or ginger ? Thanks in advance

Amymone · 18/05/2020 09:19

Hi Murphy, is this in addition to antibiotics? I am queen of UTIs and you shouldn't mess around with them. Especially in pregnancy as they can pose a threat. You defo need antibiotics. Cranberry juice etc is just preventative, not curative. You don't want those bugs going to your kidneys, can do lasting damage.

Murphy1999 · 18/05/2020 09:32

@Amymone thanks for getting back to me, I do get antibiotics if needed but it’s more along the lines off trying to prevent them coming back etc

Amymone · 18/05/2020 09:36

Great, just wanted to check you're safe! I've had cranberry pills recommended to me as a preventative measure. Only took them once but mainly because I'm pretty rubbish at taking vitamins etc! Also drinking plenty of water (also struggling with that at the mo) and loose cotton underwear (sexy!)!

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/05/2020 09:38

@Murphy1999 ‘immune boosters’ are pseudo science, you can’t take any single thing that boosts your immune system, that’s not how immunity works unfortunately

@AnxiousLady1 @TangBloodyFastic I’m getting sharp twinges sort of around my knicker line on the left side, could this be round ligament pain? I’ve had twinges on my left ovary area but was told at my scan I have a small cyst here which will be causing that so haven’t thought much about it

OP posts:
AnxiousLady1 · 18/05/2020 09:50

@BuffaloCauliflower I believe so yes. It is sharp pains on one side at a time usually (side of lower tummy or groin area), and I think a lot get them more on one side than the other (mine seems to be mainly the left). I've had 2 scans to date and nothing showed up on those (in terms of cysts etc). I think it is quite normal. If you lok it up it says its the most common pregnancy complaint - particularly in 2nd trimester. I get mine if I cough or sneeze, or sometimes if I have been lying/sitting in one position for a while and move. Its like a muscle cramp and tends to subside quickly. I've taken my DH by surprise on several occassions when I randomly wince! He panics and I'm saying 'no, no its fine, this is normal' lol. I think its just everything stretching down there.

BuffaloCauliflower · 18/05/2020 10:12

@AnxiousLady1 yes that sounds about right, it’s just lower than I’d have expected, almost back of thigh, but I can see how everything would be connected to all the pelvic ligaments there

OP posts:
SqidgeBum · 18/05/2020 10:13

@AnxiousLady1 your DH sounds lovely. My DH doesnt even blink when I say I am sore now lol. He is used to me hobbling (I have hip pain already), wincing when i sneeze, or randomly stopping to take a breath as a sharp pain gets me. Based on my last pregnancy I think pain is now going to be a daily part of our lives.
