@Pink15 my 12 week scan report says mine is anterior but it said that last time and ended up being posterior. As the womb grows the position changes (placenta doesn’t move as such but if you imagine a mark on a balloon, it doesn’t stay in the same place as the balloon inflates). They’ll confirm at your 20 week scan but it’s normal not to feel movements til after that in a first pregnancy until later than that wherever your placenta is.

seventhrow · 16/05/2020 13:32

Oh also - my placenta was mentioned as being “in the right place” at my scan but the sonographer had a really easy time with me - he said it wasn’t always so easy to get such good images of the baby and generally inside. So it could be that it was mentioned because the information was clearly available??

HarrietM87 · 16/05/2020 13:34

Either anterior or posterior is “the right place” - the only one you want to worry about is praevia where it’s blocking the cervix.

Tonicandgin · 16/05/2020 13:46

@Hancock2020 little flutters.

One of the times Dd came and kissed my tummy and it fluttered.

ACatCalledLola · 16/05/2020 13:54

@Pink15 I was told at my 12 week scan. I think it was mentioned because it’s at the back which is good if I’m having a c-section (I will be due to 2 previous sections). I don’t think it’s been mentioned in previous pregnancies.

Spoons1988 · 16/05/2020 14:09

@seventhrow is your blood pressure normally so low? Are you managing to drink? You must be feeling shocking.

Kind of reassuring seeing that most of you are still feeling rubbish in one way or another (sorry!). I’m still a walking zombie with worsening food aversions and weight loss. Cannot wait to start feeling a bit better. Hopefully not far off for everyone.

Hancock2020 · 16/05/2020 14:11

@Tonicandgin 🥰
@ACatCalledLola that's good to know as I'm having c section for the same reason as you

Hancock2020 · 16/05/2020 14:15

@Spoons1988 I'm still feeling sick, and just the thought of some foods make me heave. The scales tell me I'm gaining weight, but I can tell I'm losing weight around my face (not getting the old double chin whilst texting looking down at my phone at the moment 🤣🤣)
Hopefully we will all just feel normal soon, even just for a little while would be nice lol

seventhrow · 16/05/2020 14:22

@spoons1988 it was 100/68 at booking in and generally it’s on the low side of normal but yeah 79/50 is very low. I knew I wasn’t feeling right... everything is a massive effort... yesterday I hardly got any work done because I just couldn’t concentrate. Hoping it gets better soon!

Hope your food problems go away soon Smile it gets SO boring feeling shitty about food.

Amymone · 16/05/2020 14:42

@seventhrow I have abnormally low blood pressure too. Make sure you stay well hydrated

Amymone · 16/05/2020 14:44

I am only 12 weeks so I know this is technically impossible but I swear I've felt a little fluttering feeling on 2 occasions this week.

When you can feel things later on, is it the nerves in your womb or the surrounding muscle that picks it up? Anyone know why we can't feel movement at this stage? Even if the foetus is knocking against the womb wall?

Am I going mad and imagining things?

Pinktruffle · 16/05/2020 15:13

I'm only 12 weeks too and feel like I've felt the odd bit of fluttering @Amymone. It's probably just uterus growth but it makes me happier to thing its baby movement!

Amymone · 16/05/2020 15:19

@Pinktruffle I had a lot of cramping type feelings (like period pains) for the first 10 weeks or so. Seems to have slowed down now. Think that was womb stretching. This does feel different but probably isn't baby, as you say! I forget I'm pregnant sometimes and still think it's a bit odd that there's something living in there!!

Amymone · 16/05/2020 15:21

Just remembered my mum said she could feel us VERY early. From about 14 weeks I think, so maybe it's a family thing! She has rock hard abs (athlete) so didn't show til very late though. Can't say the same for myself though!! Defo much squishier! 😂

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/05/2020 16:06

My head’s bothering me today and been getting lots of womb twinges, must be stretching in there. Keep thinking of all the things that need doing but seems like a sofa day today! How are those of you on subsequent babies coping with this and looking after other kids?!

It’s definitely weird to think there’s a live human inside me!

My DH is on furlough so he is mostly taking our DD on walks and he does the pooey nappies. He also cooks the food and he gets up with her every morning (although she isnt up til 8am so it's not that bad). I have had it incredibly easy. I cant imagine how hard it would have been without having him around.

Spoons1988 · 16/05/2020 16:47

@seventhrow worth keeping an eye on it alongside how you’re feeling as that is very low. Hope you pick up soon!

I’m feeling similarly fortunate @sqidgebum, as with DH working from home I’m able to get lie ins and he’s preparing all DD’s meals. I still long for a day on the sofa though and a day off from the guilt that I’m not being much fun right now.

Had anybody else developed hay fever with their pregnancy? If so any advice on how to manage it?I've never had hay fever before now

anon5555 · 16/05/2020 17:00

Anyone got any advice?
I've been bleeding for 2 weeks now and wondering if anyone else experienced the same, this is what's happened to me so far.
I went to A&E at 11+6 due a bleed, was checked and everything was fine. Went for a private scan the same day and baby okay. Bleed behind the sac spotted.
At 12 weeks (the following day) had a follow up with EPU and a scan, all fine.
Had my official 12 week scan at 12+3, Baby fine, bleed behind sac still there.
At 13+1 had another bleed, went to A&E and spent the night in hospital. Scan and examination was fine. Diagnosed threatened miscarriage.
Today, at 13+5 the blood has turned red again, and I'm just monitoring how much it is for an hour or so before calling the ward for advice.
It's all so stressful, and I wondered if anyone had been through the same.

Addler · 16/05/2020 17:07

@Hancock2020 I've had hay fever since I was 18 and it's just gotten worse since being pregnant. My GP said I can take loratadine as it's generally considered safe in pregnancy, but I only take it if it's really bad. I've been using saline sinus rinses to keep my sinuses clear and just trying to stay away from the park!

Hancock2020 · 16/05/2020 17:13

Do the rinses help with the sneezing at all?

ACatCalledLola · 16/05/2020 17:29

@anon5555 that sounds really stressful. I’m sorry I don’t have any advice. If it was me I would call again and hope to be seen. Did they give a reason for the bleed? Fingers crossed for you.
@Amymone I’m 15 weeks and have definitely been feeling something since 12 weeks. It’s dc3 though. I didn’t feel dd1 until 20 weeks and dd2 18 weeks. I just recognise it better this time.

Pink15 · 16/05/2020 17:30

@anon5555 sorry to hear that must be very stressful despite reassuring scans. I would contact your EPU again and maybe try get rescanned. If you've not had a blood test recently they may also want to do one to check if you're anaemic after bleeding for 2 weeks :( good luck and let us know how you get on xx

Spoons1988 · 16/05/2020 17:57

@anon5555 definitely give the ward a ring and hopefully you can be seen soon. In the meantime just stick to bed rest and maybe keep your pads by so you can show staff how much you’ve been bleeding. It’s possible that there’s just a small part of the placenta that is occasionally coming away and bleeding. It’s a scary situation, which can mean threatened miscarriage, but it’s also possible for it to naturally resolve as the pregnancy progresses. Another scan will be useful to see what’s happening, but I hope you can rest up until then.
