@Tonicandgin Phew! Glad to hear all went well. I was waiting from an update from you on here.

Heartbreaking to hear about the others in the EPU. I recall when I had my MMC, I went for a scan at the EPU the day after my private scan didn't detect a heartbeat. I knew I was have a MC but needed the EPU to confirm it. And I've this distinct memory of a woman coming out of the scanning room sobbing. It broke my heart for her. Even though I was in similar scenario I actually felt really bad for her.

Hancock2020 · 14/05/2020 14:21

I was lucky with scan pics, they usually charge £10 for 3 photos, but because of cv and no partners allowed I got 4 for free 😃

Crispaddict99 · 14/05/2020 14:43

@HarrietM87 Thank you ☺️

@60sPony That's really helpful, thanks! Does anyone know if they normally listen to the baby's heartbeat at the 16 week appointment?

@Tonicandgin That's great news about your scan x

My sonographer gave me 8 free scan pics! She felt bad that we couldn't have partners in. She was such a lovely woman. I had no idea the trusts all operate so differently. I thought everyone got at least 2 free pics.

Amymone · 14/05/2020 14:54

@seventhrow sounds like they were accommodating at least, which is nice to know

Allstarxo · 14/05/2020 15:21

I honestly did not know paying for scan photos was a thing until now Shock, but then I thought maybe it’s free in Scotland - but apparently not after googling. Apparently there was a donation box which I did not see at my 12 week scan. Feel bad now. The sonography just handed me 9 photos in total and allowed me to video due to my boyfriend not being allowed in the room. Wow. I feel bad.

wannabebump · 14/05/2020 15:32

This makes me wish I'd ask for more photos at my scan - I only got one! There wasn't any signs up about asking for/paying for more. If DH can't go to 20 week scan I'll be sure to ask!!

I'm 14 weeks today, got some mild cramping going on yesterday afternoon/last night and today. Comes and goes - hoping it's just stuff stretching 🤔

OurLittlePumpkin · 14/05/2020 16:20

De-lurking, congrats to all the lovely scans and good luck to those who have theirs to come. I have my due date of 13th November, baby was bouncing around in scan and we got some lovely photos. The sonographer felt bad that hubby couldn't be there so printed 15 and told me to hide them!! Blush. Still waiting for bloods.

What vitamins is everyone taking for second trimester? I'm only taking iron and vitamin d, stopped my multivitamin, but feel like I should be taking more 🤔

Lulubon · 14/05/2020 16:38

Wow. So nice to see so many positive scans. I finally had mine today. Baby looked fine, due date 17th November. Any guesses on the gender?

@Crispaddict99 I’ve just had my 16 week appointment and they didn’t listen to baby’s heartbeat

SqidgeBum · 14/05/2020 16:47

@OurLittlePumpkin I am only taking vitamin D. I never took a multivitamin. I couldn't swallow them.

BuffaloCauliflower · 14/05/2020 17:18

@Addler I’m Ashford and St Peters Smile

@BuffaloCauliflower Oh how exciting!

HarrietM87 · 14/05/2020 17:50

@Crispaddict99 my hospital has a policy of not listening to the heartbeat at 16 weeks as it can still sometimes be hard to find (eg if you have an anterior placenta or are heavier) - I was expecting to hear it in my son’s pregnancy and was so upset when she said no that the midwife eventually caved in and did it anyway. My 16 week appt this time is by phone anyway!

I called them earlier and apparently it had been booked, just no one told me! It’s on 5 June when I’ll actually be 18 weeks!

Jay0512 · 14/05/2020 17:56

@OurLittlePumpkin I was taking folic acid and vitamin d in first trimester but now taking pregnacare liquid (really struggle with the tablets).

Also, I had my 12 week scan and bloods two weeks ago but still haven’t got my blood results back, does it usually take this long?

EBM20 · 14/05/2020 17:57

Had my scan today and they dated me 5 days behind to what I thought so due date is now 22nd November! The sonographer gave me 5 photos for free but said no to filming the heartbeat as the scan is for medical purposes and if I wanted that to book a private scan. Feel free to guess the gender!

Jay0512 · 14/05/2020 17:57

Also they charged £5 per scan picture where I was! Couldn’t believe it!

EBM20 · 14/05/2020 17:59

My ovaries went visable on my ultrasound. They said it's fine and it's a good sign there are no systs. Anyone else had this?

Amymone · 14/05/2020 17:59

@Jay0512 the midwife told me that blood results would be discussed at 16 week appointment unless something shows up as unusual, in which case they'll call sooner. So it sounds normal that you haven't had results yet. Unless other hospitals handle it differently of course...

Anothercliche · 14/05/2020 18:18

@OurLittlePumpkin officially you only need to be taking vitamin d when you're past 12 weeks. Iron should only be taken if you know you're deficient or have other health reasons for taking it, because otherwise it can cause really bad constipation (which is already bad in pregnancy!). If you have reasons to take iron supplements then make sure you're having lots of fibre and water to counteract the constipation like high fibre cereals, brown bread/pasta, lots of fruit and veg particularly ones with skin on and seeds in like raspberries/strawberries/blueberries/peas etc, flax seeds (also known as linseeds), prunes are really good and even prune juice is very effective.

futuredreams · 14/05/2020 18:29

We don't even get a 16 week appointment. Got one scan at 13 weeks and next one isn't until 22 weeks. It's crazy the differences in trusts. My 13 week one with a consultant she gave me 5 photos without me even asking ... think maybe it's because I've never got this far in pregnancy before with previous losses cus people in waiting area only had two or one.

Jay0512 · 14/05/2020 18:38

@Amymone thanks. I don’t have a 16 week appointment, maybe I’ll have to wait until the 20 week one unless the results aren’t as expected.

NatalieH2220 · 14/05/2020 18:42

@OurLittlePumpkin I'll be taking pregnacare original for the whole pregnancy same as I did for my first. I'm also taking extra vitamin D as advised by the midwife this time.

Amymone · 14/05/2020 19:44

Ah maybe. My 16 week appointment is just a phone check in with the midwife. Next face to face will be 20 week scan

EBM20 · 14/05/2020 20:32

@Amymone I've been told my 16 week appointment will be over the phone but ive not been told a date or time so I guess one day they are just going to call and I just hope I'm not doing anything at that time, they done the same with my booking in appointment just rang and had a 45 minute conversation with no warning! My sister in law is with the same hospital but in a different area midwife team if that makes sence, she's 3 weeks in front and she had her booking in appointment at the start of lockdown and her 16 week appointment in person! So different areas are doing things differently!

Amymone · 14/05/2020 20:34

@EBM20 yes it's exactly the same for me. No time for appt, just a date. I've found before that when I have to ring back I can generally get hold of them pretty easily though.
