11+4 here, does that make me last?! Scan next Friday at 13.

Loads of people know I’m pregnant 🙄 can’t keep my mouth shut, or they’ve found out because I’ve needed time off work (boss and colleague I work closely with). But there won’t be any big announcements anyway, I’ll let my mum do that as she’s desperate to let other family and friends know 😂 (she won’t do big announcement, but you know what I mean!).

Fouryearslater · 12/05/2020 20:03

What are the plans for returning to work for those currently working from home? Our place is devising a plan (I think) to only have a small number of people in and continue remote working. But will anyone be heading back to the office? Is there any advice for pregnant women? I’ve only had the briefest of chats with my boss and I don’t think I’m expected to return any time soon...

HarrietM87 · 12/05/2020 20:08

I haven’t told my work yet but there’s no way I’m going to go in...maybe for the rest of the pregnancy. Lockdown has shown that I can work perfectly well from home, whereas I have to get public transport to work and I live in the worst affected borough in the whole country for the virus so it’s just not worth it!

FilthyforFirth · 12/05/2020 20:18

I think you and I are the last ones on the 22nd @Fouryearslater! Though I beat you by a few hours, mines at 920!

I am currently signed off sick and wont be back before June. I dont expect to work much if the HG hangs around and I will be resisting the office as much as possible. However, I work for a large public sector body who have been pretty good so far. I expect that to continue.

LozEliza · 12/05/2020 20:26

The advice for pregnant women is for workplaces to make allowances for them to work from home due to them being in a clinically vulnerable category. Where this is not possible employers are strongly advised to redeploy them into a position where they are able to work from home or suspend on full pay for health and safety grounds. I'm a HR Manager and I've been working on our organisations return plan all day so I've read up on this quite a lot lol.

In other news... we have a gender reveal scan booked for next Saturday and the clinic emailed today to say all scans except for reassurance have now been cancelled until 1 June but as a gesture of good will they will honour the booking. Which I thought was good! However now I'm not sure if I wasted my money as we won't be able to share the reveal with family in person anyway which was the original plan :(.

NatalieH2220 · 12/05/2020 22:46

That's good to know @LozEliza, thank you.

I'm working from home whilst looking after my 3yo so certainly no plans to go back until nursery goes back at least. I told my Director probably September but who knows. I don't think I'd be expected to work back in the office anyway but good to know in case anything does come up in conversation

NatalieH2220 · 12/05/2020 22:47

@LozEliza Could you setup a Zoom call and do the gender reveal with your family this way? Not quite the same as in person but still a great way to have everyone involved.

Pinktruffle · 12/05/2020 22:57

@FilthyforFirth and @Fouryearslater I have my scan on 22nd too. I'll be 13+1

FilthyforFirth · 12/05/2020 23:01

Ah ok so there are three of us @pinktruffle, closing the month out! Will also be 13+1.

Have you told anyone yet? Or waiting for scan? Hoping this means a slightly closer wait for 20 week scans!

LozEliza · 12/05/2020 23:04

@NatalieH2220 yes that's what we were thinking. Probably the safest option for us in the circumstances x

Pinktruffle · 12/05/2020 23:13

@FilthyforFirth mine is an IVF pregnancy so a few people know. My mum, dad and siblings both know as they knew I was having treatment, we cancelled a family holiday because of it.

I work at a school so needed time out for my treatment and to stay home so the assistant head who is my boss, the head, HR and ome of my colleagues knows.

I also told my best friend about the treatment so she knows. I've told a couple of other friends over the last couple of days as I've been anxious.

Addler · 12/05/2020 23:48

I lost my balance and fell into the heated towel rail an hour ago. I've got a horribly painful burn on my side now, I don't know if it will blister or not. I've had it under water and taken some painkillers, anyone know if I need to do anything different during pregnancy with burns?

I know on the NHS website it says if you're more at risk from the effects of burns ie pregnant seek medical attention, but obviously at the moment if it can be managed at home I'd rather stay here.

Maybe call 111 and see if they have any advice?

Sherssxx · 13/05/2020 01:39

Just has my 12 week scan on Monday, everything was okay with baby. Didn’t drink enough water so the views were bad but any idea on gender? Girl💗 or Boy💙?

wannabebump · 13/05/2020 06:52

@Crispaddict99 my app updated with results overnight xx

Crispaddict99 · 13/05/2020 08:14

@wannabebump Mine too. Everything ok? xx

wannabebump · 13/05/2020 08:22

@Crispaddict99 think so! The wording threw me a bit but the numbers are 1:100000 so I'm going for all good! You?x

Crispaddict99 · 13/05/2020 08:35

@wannabebump That's a great result! Yeah me too, 1 in 11,116 so I'm over the moon with that 😊 I nearly tripped up the stairs running to tell my partner 🤦‍♀️ I'll be telling my mum today. So excited!! xx

wannabebump · 13/05/2020 08:37

@Crispaddict99 that's great! I woke my DH at 6.30am...he's went back to bed but no chance I'm sleeping now, officially allowing myself to get excited! First purchases today are new bras and a pregnancy pillow! 😂 enjoy telling your Mum, it's the best ☺️ have you told anyone else? X

Crispaddict99 · 13/05/2020 10:10

@wannabebump Aww it's so exciting isn't it! I should definitely order some new bras too, I've been bursting out of my bras for weeks now! 😂 Where are you going to buy from (if you don't mind me asking)?

I had to tell my manager as we were asked if we fell into any of the high risk categories. I hated that I was telling her before my own mum but it meant I got to wfh immediately x

Tonicandgin · 13/05/2020 10:18

Here we go again.

Each pregnancy (3rd D.C.) I've had spotting at 14 weeks. And this one is no different. It's hard to tell everyone and then have what feels like a load on my shoulders yet again.

Has anyone else had this at this point?

Wise0wl · 13/05/2020 10:38

Hello @Tonicandgin I've had spotting on and off throughout (light brown, mainly when I wipe). I've spoken to three midwifes and two GPs about it and they said that some women just have this! And it could be for any number of reasons. Can you call your midwife for reassurance?

Tonicandgin · 13/05/2020 10:39

I've called them, waiting for a call back but they want to see me to check me over.

wannabebump · 13/05/2020 10:43

@Crispaddict99 today I'm just jumping in to asda/tesco to buy a couple a size up for comfort, and I'll order proper ones online - M&S a possibility I think. You?

Re work - totally agree about telling them so you can wfh. I'm furloughed just now but I've had to have that chat with hr so when I'm back I won't be in the office at all, only wfh.

How are you going to tell your mum? X

wannabebump · 13/05/2020 10:43

@Tonicandgin hope you get seen/reassurance x
