@Addler what was her reasons for that?

Just checking in. So pleased to see so many positive scans! Mine still feels a bloody age away. Just wishing my life away until next Friday. My consultant appt isn't until August which feels a bit ridiculous when a lot of you ladies are having them straight after your scan...

Addler · 12/05/2020 10:41

@BuffaloCauliflower It's not something I really want to discuss on here, but basically an experience in my past that means childbirth may be traumatic for me. I was expecting a suggestion to limit internal exams or interventions etc however, not an immediate suggestion of an ELCS.

HarrietM87 · 12/05/2020 10:59

Has anyone got a date for their 16 week appointment yet? I was told at my booking in that it would be done over the phone, but haven’t heard anything. I’m 16 weeks next week (where has the time gone!).

SqidgeBum · 12/05/2020 11:03

Oh you just reminded me @HarrietM87. I had forgotten about the 16 week appointment. I am 15+1 now and havent heard anything. Honestly, as it's going to be just a meaningless 'everything ok?' phonecall, I am not even thinking about it. My midwife knew I was bleeding 3 weeks ago and told me to ring the GP and I havent heard from her since. I doubt she even knows if I am still pregnant or not.

MissingMo · 12/05/2020 11:03

@HarrietM87 Mine was booked at my booking appointment based on edd before the scan which makes it now a 17 week appointment. I'd give the midwife a call if you can.

TangBloodyFastic · 12/05/2020 11:05

Is anyone else still struggling with nausea/sickness?
13wks on Thursday and was hoping it would have subsided by now.

BuffaloCauliflower · 12/05/2020 11:05

@Addler that’s fair enough. I think many midwives are coming round to the idea that there are more than absolutely direct medical reasons for c-sections. Ultimately it is your choice, and great that it sounds like you won’t have to fight for a section if you do decide that’s right for you.

@HarrietM87 yes my 16 week appointment was in my app as soon as I got it set up

@BuffaloCauliflower that sounds great - I wish I was studying but also starting to think about what I might like to do post-baby... I like my work but hours are long and it might be a good opp to retrain? Not sure, just contemplating!

@HarrietM87 I also got my 16w booked in at my booking in phone appt so would recommend calling

wannabebump · 12/05/2020 11:18

@HarrietM87 I haven't had any news about my 16 week appointment but I'm 14 weeks this week so not chasing it up yet. I have had my letter through with my 20 week scan date though x

BuffaloCauliflower · 12/05/2020 11:20

@Wise0wl I work in HR so it’s been easier to get flexibility from work to do this, short periods of working 4 day weeks (with reduced pay) to have study days and things like that. But god it has been hard and tbh I regret starting. If I hadn’t had to pause last year I’d be getting done this year before baby, as it is I’m trying to work out how I’ll be able to study whilst on maternity leave. I refuse to leave my 2-4 month old for 4-5 hours for lectures once a week (I know I could but I don’t want to!) or do that module the following year when I’m also back at work....it all has to be done in 4 years too. Basically its a pain in the arse.

@TangBloodyFastic Yes! I am 14 weeks tomorrow and still have nausea and vomiting but mainly in the evening. I try to make sure I dont eat too late but sometimes even that doesnt help.

SMcG1 · 12/05/2020 11:48

@HarrietM87 I had mine booked in at my scan but I don’t know if that was because they couldn’t get the nt measurement so mines has to be in person to get bloods taken.

Addler · 12/05/2020 11:52

@TangBloodyFastic same here, mine has been worse since 10 weeks and no sign of getting better yet. I'm currently throwing up half my meals at least.

HarrietM87 · 12/05/2020 11:54

Thanks for the replies! I’ll give them a few days and call next week. The hospital is monitoring my thyroid (I have hypothyroidism) and did the bloods for that at my 12 week scan, so I need to discuss that with them at my 16 week appt. I got my 20 week scan booked in at my 12 week scan but the scanning dept and the midwives are totally separate in my hospital.

Wise0wl · 12/05/2020 11:59

@BuffaloCauliflower sounds tricky to get it booked in. Still great that your employer has let you do it! And agreed I wouldn’t want to leave baby for lectures either!

novicettc · 12/05/2020 12:25

Hi all, just wondering if anyone is suffering more with tiredness/fatigue in Trimester 2 than before? I was very lucky and didn't have many symptoms in T1, I'm 15+2 now and the last few days I feel like I've been hit by a tuck! Constantly feeling exhausted which is making it very hard to WFH and function in general...

TangBloodyFastic · 12/05/2020 12:32

@Addler @MissingMo it's grim isn't it. Luckily I'm only nauseous and not actually being physically sick but still it isn't a bed of roses. I am craving a nice home cooked, healthy, meal but cannot face cooking at all! Just the thought of cooking makes me feel 🤢
I'm really conscious that I've not touched a vegetable in about 2 months! I don't want to be piling weight on just because of a crap diet. I obviously don't mind about baby weight but shit diet weight is extremely frustrating and not a road I want to go down

MissingMo · 12/05/2020 12:53

@TangBloodyFastic Most of the time it's just heaving but I'm still ill sometimes if I eat too late or have anything spicy. I have really wound down on the cooking too. I try and eat fruit and veg in the daytime where I feel okay and then just eat plain chicken with beans or soup in the evening. I'm so bored and like you crave proper food. I bough lamb steak in Hope's I'll be well enough to eat it but I'm not brave enough atm.

Just eat what you can at this point I say, you can always make up for it later. I'm sorry you're feeling like this and hope it gets better soon.

TangBloodyFastic · 12/05/2020 13:07

@MissingMo these hormones have to settle at some point don't they!
Can't wait for the day that I'm full of energy and feel like human again! According to all the apps it should be soon! I am desperately holding on to the positive thought 😁😁(🤢) 😁

Hancock2020 · 12/05/2020 13:24

Great, so went to docs to check if I have an infection of some sort only to find a cervical polyp 🙄 great, I've already had cervical issues in the past and now I'm afraid its come back 😥

Pink15 · 12/05/2020 13:30

@Hancock2020 good luck with your scan

I've not heard about 16 week appt yet but I did read they may cancel them according to RCOG as part of coronavirus plan?

NS34 · 12/05/2020 13:30

@TangBloodyFastic I'm 14 weeks today and also still really struggling with nausea and sickness, especially in the evenings. I am really craving anything with cheese though

Crispaddict99 · 12/05/2020 13:38

@wannabebump A midwife has just called me back. She checked my records and the screening results are not back yet. She said just keep checking the app over the next few days as they should be back soon. About 2 minutes later I received a letter in the post and thought sh1t! But it turned out to be my 20 week scan appointment 😊

My 16 week appointment, 20 week scan and 28 week scan/consultant appointment are all booked in (the extra 28 week appointment is because I'm 40).

@TangBloodyFastic Yeah, my nausea actually got better at around 10-11 weeks but has come back with a vengeance this week (I'm 14+1). I keep reading it normally gets better by week 16. Seems like ages away since every day is dragging in at the moment!
