You're welcome on here @Indigogirl88 xx

professorastrocat · 08/05/2020 18:27

Oh fab @Lola871, I think @Piglet11 has an appointment Tuesday too.

Welcome @Indigogirl88 if you wish to stay!

Wise0wl · 08/05/2020 18:42

Hello! Thank you @Indigogirl88 🤗 how are you getting on? I’ve got my scan on Monday so I’m sure it’ll start feeling more real then!!

Wise0wl · 08/05/2020 18:45

PS @professorastrocat I’ve found non alcoholic cider so much better than non alcoholic wine so far. Perfect for days like today!

Hhdxx · 08/05/2020 18:49

How is everyone coping with the lockdown?

I've not seen anyone for 8 weeks now and feeling rubbish about it. Do you think I'll be allowed back to work soon? I'm a primary school teacher xx

professorastrocat · 08/05/2020 19:23

Great, I'll try and get some then @Wise0wl ! And exciting for Monday!

Piglet11 · 08/05/2020 19:28

Hey everyone, once again behind in messages so just read through them! So glad everything was ok at your scan @Hhd!

That’s really annoying about schools for everyone. Luckily for me it is pretty easy to get into schools and the catchment area I am in had the best school.

It’s funny I’ve not drank much alcohol for years yet all of a sudden the fact I can’t makes me want some lol (obviously never would but that non alcoholic cider sounds good).

I’m in Scotland and I think regardless what boris says, Scotland will be staying in lockdown for longer, I’m actually ok with that being pregnant.

I have my 16 week appointment on Tuesday to hear the heart beat but I bought a Doppler on Wednesday (I know you aren’t supposed to but I couldn’t help it, really really struggling with anxiety over this pregnancy) and I heard them! Best sound ever.

Hope everyone else is who has appointments next week go well.

BooMamaBear · 08/05/2020 19:39

My scan is a week on Tuesday why is time going so slowly it's still feels like an age away!! Xx

Bumblebee413 · 08/05/2020 19:59

So glad all is well @Hhdxx. Don't ever feel guilty- midwives would rather see you twice a day for a month if you were worried about something than not at all xxx

Welcome and congrats @Indigogirl88!

I'm still working so the lockdown hasn't affected me too much in some ways. In others, I really miss my family. We live hundreds of miles from them and we're still(!!!) holding out the tiniest bit of hope that we might be able to tell them in person in the next month or so. It will be the first grandchild on both sides. But, yeah, luckily for me that's it really, I know most people have it much harder, especially with small children. The only thing is that I've just felt so guilty working in a hospital, going in and potentially exposing myself and the baby to Covid every shift. I've felt really resentful that that risk is part of my job, given the pregnancy, and I haven't been able to bear all the clapping because I feel like such an angry, resentful worker, rather than a 'hero'. Blush

Bumblebee413 · 08/05/2020 20:00

Sorry, don't really know where that came from.

Hhdxx · 08/05/2020 20:03

@Bumblebee413 don't be sorry! I completely understand how you feel about your job. Are pregnant people still high risk? I don't know how I'm allowed to stay off work as a teacher but you're not. I also live 100 miles away from any family, my partner's family are even further away so we feel really lonely. First grandchild too so feel your pain. I haven't seen them for 2 months and am getting depressed over it but also feel selfish at the same time xxxxx

professorastrocat · 08/05/2020 21:24

It's so hard. You vent away @Bumblebee413 you have every right to 💕

OP posts:
Wise0wl · 08/05/2020 21:58

@Hhdxx really glad everything’s ok. In terms of schools I think Gov is keen to get them back in early June but they can’t get unions to agree from an article I read today - we may find out more on Sunday but then again we may not!

@Bumblebee413 totally understand how you’re feeling, I’m also holding out not telling family as I so hope I can tell them in person!

Bumblebee413 · 08/05/2020 23:23

Thank you all - took me by surprise a bit. Isn't it weird when you think you're coping one way and your brain goes 'Nope!'.

My friend is 26 weeks with twins and has been sent home to telephone triage and another colleague was sent home on full pay at 28/40 until she officially starts her maternity leave, so I'm not really sure what's going to happen. They're both high risk pregnancies whereas I'm pretty straightforward, assuming my placenta shifts itself. Weird. 'My' placenta. Haven't had ownership of one of those before....

I won't be 28 weeks until late August and everything could have changed by then. Who knows.

@Hhdxx you've got nothing to feel guilty about either. This isn't a normal time and it is hard to feel far away when so much is changing

@Wise0wl at this rate our bumps will give us away Grin

Wise0wl · 08/05/2020 23:39

Agreed @Bumblebee413 though as I said to DH this evening my bump is quite squishy so I think it’s at least 50% beige food from the MS! I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m really struggling to exercise in lockdown

professorastrocat · 09/05/2020 19:51

Nope not getting enough exercise @Wise0wl, thinking will get a pregnancy exercise dvd or something at some point aswell as walking as much as I can. I'm not going to ramp it up a lot because I wasn't exercising loads before becoming pregnant and I don't think you're supposed to suddenly start doing loads (couldn't even if I wanted!)

I was just saying that I feel like I have one of those twitchy eyes but in my tummy, and realised it could be baby twitching about! ❤️

OP posts:
Wise0wl · 09/05/2020 20:19

@professorastrocat SO exciting!!!

Agree on exercise, and I’m glad I’m not the only one!

Piglet11 · 09/05/2020 20:47

The government are shouting about at risk people staying home but if you are a key worker they seem to think it is ok for you to work, so unfair!

I’ve been trying a bit of prenatal yoga and been doing joe wicks’ pregnancy workouts, they are quite good. Also been doing a lot of working.

professorastrocat · 09/05/2020 21:07

How was your appointment today @Needallthesleep ?

OP posts:
Needallthesleep · 09/05/2020 21:25

@Hhdxx so pleased everything was Ok. Except for thrush, which doesn’t sound like fun!!

@Bumblebee413 sounds like a very valid thing to vent about. Not sure if you have seen but Pregnant Then Screwed have a lot of resources for women who are pregnant, but can’t work from home at the moment. I think legally your employer can’t make you go to work (don’t quote me on that, I don’t follow them for that info), if you wanted to get tough about it?

Yay @professorastrocat for the flutter!! That is exciting. How are you feeling at the moment??

@Wise0wl yes yes to the beige. I’ve started to feel a little more human in the past couple of weeks so I have started couch to 5k, which has made me feel amazing. I hadn’t exercised for about 12 weeks. I’m a personal trainer as a sort of side hustle so it feels very weird not to exercise!!

Had my 16 week appointment today, heard the baby’s heartbeat which was lovely. Why is the 20 week scan about 4 years away?!?

When are you all starting to buy stuff (if you need it?). I want to buy a couple of little first outfits for the baby but think it’s a bit soon?!

BooMamaBear · 09/05/2020 22:01

@Needallthesleep So glad you got to hear the heartbeat and that was all ok!! I know what you mean my scan is a week on Tuesday it's taking an age to cone round!
This little one is having some kind of party tonight I've laid down loads to see if she'd move and she didn't much - now she's moving and kicking all over the place!!
@professorastrocat -it lovely feeling the flutters it feels strange tho it really doesn't feel like anything else!
I'm 18w tomorrow it feels so much longer! Xx

Wise0wl · 10/05/2020 10:56

@Needallthesleep so glad your 16w appt went well!

On shopping, I guess I might start around the 20w mark? But that’s a little while away yet! I really hope by then I can go in actual shops and pick some stuff out!

professorastrocat · 10/05/2020 11:29

Glad you had a good appointment @Needallthesleep

Im tempted to get stuff but I honesty don't think we need hardly anything! I want to get a next to me bed and some new slings but don't need much else (how long this logic of mine will last I don't know, last time I nearly filled the whole spare room with clothes, blankets and toys in preparation!!)

OP posts:
professorastrocat · 10/05/2020 12:00

And thanks for asking @Needallthesleep I can't say my nausea has gone to be honest but I have some good days now. Progress!
I'm glad you feel better, your exercising puts me to shame !

OP posts:
sparkler07 · 10/05/2020 18:40

@Needallthesleep. I have already ordered a pram with car seat etc. Wasn't going to buy that just yet but it was on offer, not due for delivery for another 4 weeks. My youngest is 12 and we have nothing. So need to buy everything again.xx
