@mc3209 the only time I got it was after dtd so I put it down to that and it went after a day

Indigogirl88 · 29/05/2020 08:41

Sorry just realised I crashed the late October thread and I'm on the early October thread, due 6th! Hope you're all doing well ladies x

Freddie1987 · 29/05/2020 08:47

@Mc3209 I had the same thing early on, it lasted a couple of weeks before it went back to normal. Could be from your vagina or cervix and not inside the womb, so as long as it's not bright red and you don't have stronger pains I would try not to worry. Definitely call triage if you're still experiencing it later though as they might want to check you over. I've been debating calling them since yesterday because I feel like the kicks and movements are not as regular or as strong but not sure I should be monitoring them that closely at this stage...hmmm!

DressingGown87 · 29/05/2020 08:55

@Mc3209 sorry to hear your having a rough time of it, not surprised your uneasy. Brown discharge is usually old blood. I’m not medically trained in the slightest, but hopefully it’s just the stretching and changes which is causing some irritation to the cervix, which is releasing the old blood. It’s a good sign that you can feel the baby moving. If your worried ring the triage or your MW, and hopefully they can help.

Still had no sign of a 16-week appointment, so just called a lovely midwife at the community midwives as Monday is 19 weeks for me.

Turns out the midwives at the hospital antenatal clinic who told me I'd get a call, should have told me I needed to ring and book it with the community midwives but since it's over the phone anyway and I have no concerns, it's fine that I missed out.

They explained what I need to do the book the future ones as being first baby I had no clue, so hopefully, my 3rd midwife appointment at 25 weeks will go as it should do in person when the first two didn't go as planned.

1990shopefulftm · 29/05/2020 09:18

@Freddie1987 for me baby only seems to want to move in the evening but I think its because I actually focus on it then when I'm not doing anything else. No harm calling triage if you're worried :)

SJR86 · 29/05/2020 09:21

@Mc3209 I had this for a couple of weeks early on, no apparent cause and everything was fine. It does make you panic though. I'm sure it's just old blood working it's way out as the baby is getting bigger.
It's always worth calling your midwife though if you have any concerns xx

Mc3209 · 29/05/2020 09:27

@Indigogirl88 thank you for sharing your experience! I haven't DTD for about a week now, so it's not that unfortunately. Hoping it's still nothing to worry about as it's brown.

@Freddie1987 I know what you mean about movements, 2 days ago my kid was on a quieter side, I even resorted to drinking coke to get him to move. But yesterday was fine. They are still very small and can change position where their pokey bits are facing inwards (ie into your giblets) so it's difficult to feel them. I guess as with anything pregnancy, it's if in doubt call the midwife.

@DressingGown87 I am hoping it's just the cervix being irritated. I will sit on it until this afternoon to see what happens. Gah. There is always something to worry about, isn't it.

@1990shopefulftm At least now mystery is solved. It's quite annoying there are no clear instructions on how to book the appointments. Not everyone has a crystal ball.

@SJR86 thank you. I am trying not to obsess.

I haven't felt any movement for about a week but I figured it's just the position of baby etc. The movements I'd felt beforehand weren't super strong anyway so I'm not too worried. No pain etc. Im trying to keep my sensible head on!

I remember later in pregnancy with my little boy, when you do the whole "count the kicks" thing, and if you were worried about lack of movement, the midwife would recommend coke or Lucozade and having a jump around to "wake" baby up Smile

1990shopefulftm · 29/05/2020 09:49

@Mc3209 yeah, I really appreciated that they then gave me an explanation of everything that will happen after the 20-week scan because no one had so far, of course there's a plan in the notes but I presumed i wouldn't have those appointments exactly as planned so I m glad to hear that I will.

Freddie1987 · 29/05/2020 10:31

Thanks guys, I've felt a couple of kicks after breakfast so I'll keep monitoring today. x

Clalou83 · 29/05/2020 12:09

@1990shopefulftm Hiya I'm glad you have said that about midwife apt. I'm 18 week and not heard anything, not even got any notes. I may call on Monday as they said they were going to call me at 18wk. X

BS9790 · 29/05/2020 12:14

I don't think you have to monitor movements until much later.

I haven't felt my baby move yet!

1990shopefulftm · 29/05/2020 12:44

@Clalou83 I d chase them up if they ve not sent any notes to you.

DogCatDex · 29/05/2020 12:45

For those on their first baby can I ask who is/ when they started feeling kicks and what they felt like. This is my first and I’m worried I’ve still not felt anything. I’m 18+2

For those who haven’t heard on appointments I reckon it might be worth giving your midwives a ring. I have my 20w scan, an obstetrician appointment 3 weeks after that and another midwife appointment booked in for 3 weeks after that already in my diary which seems super ahead of game based on what I’ve read on here!

1990shopefulftm · 29/05/2020 12:53

@Dogcatdex I ve had flutters once or twice a day for about a week, I m 18+4 but sometimes I think it could just be indigestion. Plenty of things online say it's possible not to feel it until past 20 weeks or later.

WaveStreet · 29/05/2020 13:05

@dogcatdex I'm 18+1 and this week I've had feelings of some sort every day, not flutters/butterflies as some describe, more like twinges i suppose but not painful.
I felt something persistent low down the other day, googled and decided he must have been kicking my cervix at the time! I am trying not to stress over it, 18 weeks is still early for regular movements, especially when its difficult to pinpoint those feelings with a first pregnancy.

DogCatDex · 29/05/2020 13:16

I’ve been feeling twinges this week too. I thought it might just be stretching “pain”. Maybe it’s movement!

I did have a scan at w16 and they said all was normal so I’ll just keep hoping for some “flutters”!

KitKatKit · 29/05/2020 13:23

@@DogCatDex Im 19+4 and haven't felt anything! And my placenta is at the back so can't even blame it on that 🤷🏾‍♀️

Mc3209 · 29/05/2020 13:41

@DogCatDex I initially thought it was gas, then it turned into something like a muscle twitch in low belly. It's only after I got few distinct kicks I copied on to what I was feeling. It moves around depending on where the baby is, but now I can comfortably tell the difference between beastie moving and gas in the giblets.
Everyone is different, position of the placenta is different and babies position differently. It's absolutely normal not to feel much until after 20 weeks.

OP posts:
BS9790 · 29/05/2020 14:40

I'm 18 weeks. I'm having odd twinges low down but I discussed these with midwife and she said that would be stretching not the baby moving.

My placenta is at the front and I've been told it could be 24 weeks before I feel movement. So I'm trying not to worry, my midwife listened to hb today and said he was moving.... Couldn't feel a thing!

SJR86 · 29/05/2020 14:44

@DogCatDex I'm 19+5 and I'm not sure if I've felt movement or if I'm imagining it. Feels more like teeny tiny butterflies and seems to be mostly when I am sitting quietly at the table working.

I've got my 20week scan next Friday, which I'm starting to get anxious about - paranoia that something will be wrong or little bean will have disappeared!

I've also got my next midwife appointment booked in too.

KitKatKit · 29/05/2020 15:39

@SJR86 I hear you on the paranoia... I had a private scan at 16 weeks and everything was okay, but now I'm like 'Is there anybody in there?!'

Clalou83 · 29/05/2020 17:42

@KitKatKit @SJR86 I know I had a private scan at 17 wk last Friday, it puts your mind at rest at the time but then you go back to doubting, stressing, worrying. Hope I can start relaxing soon and enjoy it. 2 more weeks for 20 week scan.
