Hi!
Just got my BFP this weekend.
I got my first faint positive Friday morning with an frer, and today it's much darker (11dpo)!

Leading up to my bfp, I've had icky feeling, tiredness, dizzy spells, headaches, cramps.
Not feeling as icky as with my last pregnancy yet though!
Provisional due date of 7th January using the NHS calculator.

Come and join once you've got your bfp for January 2021, for a few pregnancy pals!

@CoalCraft other my oh my friend knows and I'm planning on telling my mum when I get to 6 weeks so end of next week (unless I can hold it in and tell her on her birthday instead)

MissHoney85 · 18/05/2020 14:56

Apart from my OH, I've only told my head teacher and, weirdly, a neighbour I hardly know - we are both beekeepers, I've been advised to stop as I've had a mild anaphylactic reaction to stings in the past, so I've asked her to take over my hive.

I think after the 7 week scan, if everything is ok I'll tell my sister. Then everyone else at 12 weeks, if we get that far. I'm really looking forward to telling everyone, especially my mum - though I know I'll be annoyed in about 2 minutes by the inevitable endless questions and well meaning advice!

peach111 · 18/05/2020 14:58

@Amanda855 I have had the exact same thing cramps like trapped wind and sorry if to much information but burping and farting loads😫😫 I usually never do mortifying!

Also bit of back pain but I’m 5 weeks according to dates today and pains seem to have eased a lot today, spoke to my doctor Over the phone today and have been referred,

it’s so hard I feel so excited but then almost don’t want to get my hopes up too much just incase x

Radio9998 · 18/05/2020 15:20

Thank you @CoalCraft! Good to hear horse reassurance. I’ll wait to hear what the midwife says and then either put it on hold or keep it slow and steady... I might have to tell the school owner then otherwise she would be paranoid that I quit and I like her a lot!! So that would be my ‘odd person to tell early’. But I know she can keep a secret.

Re how to tell people, still terrified of thinking about it as not that far along, but some of my friends went a bit OTT at their 12 weeks imho... I would probably just end up awkwardly dropping it into conversation. Blush Family yeah, all being well it would be a newsworthy item esp as both DH and I are only children.

Hanabanana17 · 18/05/2020 15:31

Hi everyone, hope all these sticky beans are doing well? Just thought I'd share our good news if anyone has been worried about any spotting and cramping. I've had 3 days of both and been really worried after previous MC and cervical incompetence (due to an op last year). We are high risk so been referred to EPU and had our first scan today at just 5+4.very very early stages and a long way to go but all good, saw baby's heartbeat 💓 which was magical. I burst into tears! Midwife said bleeding is most likely implantation and cramps are normal (and could be bowels! Tmi!). Husband had to wait outside which was a shame but I recorded it on my phone and we have a lovely picture for the fridge! Still can't believe it's really happening 😍

Baba11 · 18/05/2020 15:41

@Hanabanana17 congrats
How amazing you got to see your little baba. Sounds like they are really looking after you, which is always reassuring.
I agree with the pains been related to bowels. Because I have a really bad cramp this morning that made me really worry that is easy after I passed wind( sorry tmi)
So I hear ya @peach111 It is an awful and very unladylike like symptom to have but it is very much a symptom.

UpNorthMam · 18/05/2020 15:42

Hi All first time posting, started TTC beginning of this year, just got a BFP 10DPO, just tested because I’d had a delivery of loads of cheapies and thought why not.. over the moon but what do I do now? Is it too early to tell my parents? Do I phone my doctors? Not sure who I need to tell to get my 12 week scan booked in? Plan to tell husband when he gets home from work. First time mother in my 30s.
Due Jan 2021 fingers crossed 😁

UpNorthMam · 18/05/2020 16:06

@ttcchapter1very interesting post as I’ve just took a test today afternoon, tests just got delivered by postie.. and 10DPO and string line.. last month my period lasted 2 days, full flow though, but usually lasts 6 days.. confused!

Hanabanana17 · 18/05/2020 16:09

@Baba11 thank you Smile I know what you mean about the wind (!) midwife said that's very normal early on as it back pain which has been super uncomfortable but all worth it to see that little heart beat. I feel so lucky. I know some people would be concerned seeing something so early as it's such a risky time but being a very anxious person, it's really helped my head space. All being well, not got another scan now until 10-12 weeks so just trying to stay positive. How are you getting on? X

CoalCraft · 18/05/2020 16:18

@BabyDust13 Oh I've probably made it sound way worse than it is! Basically my mum is suuuper career focused, was upset when I got married at 24, and has told me that if I must have children, it shouldn't be till I'm 35 at the earliest... I'm 26 next month! Basically I'm worried she'll assume I screwed up taking the pill and be all "aww no oops", rather than happy for me, and I'll have to explain it was intentional. Doesn't help that we have had a few accidental and probably poorly timed pregnancies in the family recently and she's been very disapproving of it when we've talked about it in private. Such a silly thing to worry about, especially when I know she'll come round and support us fully!

I was also pretty baby-phobic as a teenager (wouldn't hold then, complained about crying) and no one knows we were trying so this will give it the blue a bit and I'll probably get some teasing for that, but I don't mind that really lol

Am planning on just telling immediate family / closest friends and just letting it percolate to our wiser circles, not gonna do a big massive announcement or anything

I'm super looking forward to telling my gran and DH's family though ☺️

@UpNorthMam ring your GP, they'll tell you when you can make a midwife appointment and who to call for that if it isn't them. Congratulations!!

@Hanabanana17 Aww that's wonderful, thrilled for you!

@peach111 Don't be embarrassed, I've also had a lot of gas!

CoalCraft · 18/05/2020 16:23

Sorry "give it the blue" was supposed to be "come out the blue"

BabyG123 · 18/05/2020 16:28

@peach111 I had exactly the same situation with DS1 and my best friend. Thankfully half way through my pregnancy she fell pregnant.

BabyG123 · 18/05/2020 16:29

Also in regards to returning to work. I work with children and have been back since last week. You're only classed as vulnerable if you have a heart condition.

Other than that good to go xx

Pol96 · 18/05/2020 16:34

@BabyG123 thank you for that.. Have you told work? x

BabyDust13 · 18/05/2020 16:35

@CoalCraft I'm sure she'll be on board. My OH is so excited to tell his mum. I think he's feeling bad because my mum knows and she doesn't but that's only because I really needed my mum when going through previous losses. Hopefully that's all in the past now

My symptoms seem to have all but vanished today which is making me paranoid but I'm going to go for a walk when I'm finished working fresh air should clear my head

UpNorthMam · 18/05/2020 16:45

Thank you @CoalCraft 😃

Baba11 · 18/05/2020 16:58

@Hanabanana17 yeh I'm 6 +1 and just taking everyday as it comes. Everyday is a blessing. My 12 week scan has come through today, in6 weeks time. Which is a long time to wait!

@CoalCraft all mums are protective and want the best for you. She will come round, try not to worry about what others think and focus on enjoying your pregnancy. The people who matter( inc your mum) will be happy for you.

Beautybake5 · 18/05/2020 17:13

Hi everyone, hope your all OK! Just wondered if anyone else has experienced period like pain but on one side of my bladder (sort of) hard to explain lol. Not sure if i should be worried. I'm around 4 weeks or 6 if going by last period! X

Carabu1 · 18/05/2020 18:24

@peach111 - having been the friend with fertility issues being constantly bombarded with other people's easy baby making (or at least, that's how it feels!) can I suggest doing it by text or WhatsApp rather than over the phone/in person? I know it seems less personal, but honestly I loved the friends who did this because it gave me time to cry/scream/bewail the injustice of the world before being expected to get my 'oh yay I'm soooo happy for you' face on! That probably makes me sound like a bit of a b*ch but anyone who has been there I suspect can sympathise. (And they will come round and be happy for you - it may just take time - because its hard).

@CoalCraft - I'm also dreading telling my family. Not for any specific reason (I'm 30, good job, married, home owner, blah blah) but more because they always find a way of disapproving of whatever I do and so I doubt this will be different. But I'm so happy about I'm going to be a bit impervious to their criticism, I hope!

Also - at 7+4 now and still haven't heard anything re: booking appt or a scan date...is it time to chase or do I just need to be patient do you think?

ClairejLindsay · 18/05/2020 18:36

How's everyone doing today?

Tiredness has kicked in for sure, followed by a heavy dose of hormones.

Any funny crying stories? I cried when my cat scratched me today 🙈 this is 5+1 😂😂 it's going to be a long 9months 😂😂

Pol96 · 18/05/2020 18:44

@ClairejLindsay I cried registering for the doctors this afternoon ... In terms of symptoms upset tummy (from what I've googled it's normal to get) tired and a tad nauseous

ClairejLindsay · 18/05/2020 19:48

@Pol96 😂🙈 it's ridiculous isn't it, my boyfriend thinks it's funny 🙈 I've been tired last two days. I look like a raccoon

Mumof4andahalf · 18/05/2020 19:48

Just got this! I've had 2 previous pregnancies so hoping this one will stick 🤞🏻
