Another new thread! Reckon we can get all the scans into this one?

Thanks @Tonicandgin Good luck to you too

Tonicandgin · 04/05/2020 16:47

Random question - has anyone worn a face mask to hospital?

Scan on Weds and feel a bit nervous about going somewhere that's full of covid patients (which are in a separate part of the hospital obvs).

HarrietM87 · 04/05/2020 16:49

@TangBloodyFastic because the harmony is more accurate you get more detailed numbers - mine was just expressed as less than 1 in 10,000 for all of them. With NHS they will likely give you an actual number for each. Your baseline risk is based on your age (likely where you’ve got 1:150 from) but then they’ll combine that with the bloods and NT to give a more accurate reading.

I’ve attached a pic from my harmony leaflet which explains what it doesn’t test for.

@HarrietM87 thanks ever so much for that! Will definitely have the tests that the NHS offer then
I never realised pregnancy was so much waiting and worry - even beyond 12 weeks! Thinking about it, you worry up to 12 weeks, you then worry up to 20 weeks, you then worry up to birth, you then worry about SIDS etc up to 6 months, you then worry about progressing/growing "normally" - they hit 16-18 and you worry about them being out and about....
I think I need to prep myself for a lifetime of worry now don't i 😂

FireflyGirl · 04/05/2020 17:15

@Tonicandgin my dad's a key worker, so sent me one to wear. I was the only non-staff member wearing one.

It was stuffy and horrible, but I lived. If you've got one, go for it.

SqidgeBum · 04/05/2020 17:17

@TangBloodyFastic yes. Motherhood is just one worry after another unfortunately. It never ends 😆 the first 12 weeks is just the start

wannabebump · 04/05/2020 17:45

@Becca65 didn't realise it's much sooner for higher risk, so fingers crossed if I don't hear by the end of the week/start of next then I'm kind of ok! Hopefully the NT reading is a relatively good indicator that things will be ok and my age doesn't affect it too much - I'm 33 x

SqidgeBum · 04/05/2020 17:52

Maybe it's just my trust, but my midwife didnt mention my NT measurement, and i didnt hear the heartbeat. I was simply told 'it all looks good'. I was in and out in 6 minutes. I have no clue 😆

SqidgeBum · 04/05/2020 17:54

Sonographer* not midwife

eleanorsos · 04/05/2020 18:09

@SquidgeBum I'd take that as a good sign! It might be in your notes somewhere but probably best not to worry about it if sonographer is happy. Congrats! 😁

carrot88 · 04/05/2020 18:19

@SqidgeBum I didn't get told the NT measurement either but it's in my notes so just had a nosey there for confirmation as I'd watched her measuring it during the scan too so I knew it was okay. I didn't hear heartbeat either but saw it very strongly on the screen which was equally reassuring!

wannabebump · 04/05/2020 19:20

@SqidgeBum I didn't hear the heart beat either, and I checked out the measurement on my notes as Sonographer didn't really say much. I seen a MW after though for my bloods and I asked her if what was in my notes was ok x

Caldey11 · 04/05/2020 19:34

Hi everyone. I have been lurking on here for weeks and can now happily join having had my 12 week scan today. My husband and I were TTC for 6 years and this is an IVF baby, our first round. I feel so incredibly lucky that it worked and has made it to 12 weeks. I had some bleeding at 9 weeks so really panicked and had to have another scan but everything was ok. My due date is 16 November.

Hi @Caldey11 Congratulations after such a long journey! You might want to get the scan photo taken down though as we can see your name on it... x

Caldey11 · 04/05/2020 19:57

Hi MoreGinPlease2020 thanks for the message. I'm not fussed about my name being on it, unless I have broken a Mumsnet rule?

MoreGinPlease2020 · 04/05/2020 19:59

Not as far as I know!

MrsR87 · 04/05/2020 20:11

@BuffaloCauliflower
Thanks. I will have a go with that!

Hope everyone who had scans today had a nice experience x

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/05/2020 20:12

Welcome @Caldey11 Smile great news and good to have you!

MrsR87 · 04/05/2020 20:12

@Caldey11
Congratulations! What wonderful news 😍

BuffaloCauliflower · 04/05/2020 20:15

@MrsR87 please do, and do report back or PM me if you need help - it is often surprising to get the right size after years of wrong!

FilthyforFirth · 04/05/2020 20:24

Evening all, so glad to read about the positive scans.

I have been quiet as I have been really ill. I have moved on to ondansatron today so really hoping I will improve. I am down 8lbs, which under normal circumstances I would be delighted about, but it would be nice to keep something down...

I have been having a bad pain in my bottom left handside of my tummy. Spoke to my midwife and she has referred me to the EPU who are going to scan me on Thursday. I am feeling a bit anxious but keep telling myself I haven't had any bleeding.

Sort of glad though as my 12 week scan isn't until May 22nd when I will 13+1. I will be exactly 11 weeks on Thursday.

futuredreams · 04/05/2020 20:25

I don't even think they measured mine.... no mention in chart at all. And I honestly didn't see the measurement being taken ....

MrsR87 · 04/05/2020 20:26

@Becca65
My due date is 12th too 😊

Fouryearslater · 04/05/2020 20:29

@FilthyforFirth the ondansetron made a massive difference to me so good luck. I’m ringing the GP to go back on it tomorrow as after two days off it, I can’t keep a thing down. They don’t seem keen for me to keep taking it though.

Natopp · 04/05/2020 20:30

Congrats on all lovely scans!!
