Another new thread! Reckon we can get all the scans into this one?

@SqidgeBum I've had slight nose bleeds - on googling seems to be a very common symptom as our blood volume increases by 50%! I wouldn't worry unless you can't stop a nose bleed

Pink15 · 02/05/2020 09:09

Sorry read it as nose bleed!!!

EBM20 · 02/05/2020 09:39

@buffallocauliflower thank you for your advice on the bath! I googled so much into it but every site said different! I will write it on my list of questions I want to ask the midwife at my 16 week phonecall appointment and see if she recommends anything else too! I did read on one site it could be linked to low iron which does run in my family and I took iron supplements before pregnancy, some days I feel dizzy and extremely tired during the day and them days I take the iron supplement I used to take on top of the pregnancy vitimans but at different times of the day and it does seem to help.

Anyone else now not being seen at all until 20+ weeks? I don't k ow if I'm suppose to have midwife appointments in between. They didn't really say except something about my GP. But when I phoned GP reception, they said you call us when you are needed to be seen. ? I haven't a clue now.

SqidgeBum · 02/05/2020 09:44

@futuredreams I have a midwife appointment at about 16 weeks

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/05/2020 09:48

@futuredreams my midwife said there’s a 16 week appointment, hopefully in person by then but might be phone

wannabebump · 02/05/2020 09:49

@futuredreams I've been told I'll have a MW appointment at 16 weeks - although it's likely to be over the phone than face to face at the moment x

wannabebump · 02/05/2020 09:50

@anon5555 I had urine done at the booking in appointment and was told the next check for that would be 16 weeks. They didn't get blood at booking in though, so I've been told that'll be at the 12 week scan instead x

ACatCalledLola · 02/05/2020 09:52

@wannabebump I did but my scan was at the Fetal Medicine Research Centre at Kings in London. I think that’s probably one of the only places that has such a quick turnaround. My last two babies were a different hospital and I had to wait.
@futuredreams I have a mw appointment at 16 weeks. It’s supposed to be a phone appointment but I’m going to ask for all my appointments to be in person because I’m higher risk for pre eclampsia and that could be easily missed without urine and bp at the appointments.

wannabebump · 02/05/2020 10:48

Thanks @ACatCalledLola - dreading the wait. I stupidly thought after the scan that I could tell some close family & friends..guess I'll just have to wait a little bit longer

ACatCalledLola · 02/05/2020 11:07

@wannabebump they will call you in a couple of days if you’re high risk. You’ll also get a good idea from the scan because they measure the NT which is a good indication of problems and they can also often spot other issues.

wannabebump · 02/05/2020 11:09

@ACatCalledLola just desperate to tell my Mum! X

ACatCalledLola · 02/05/2020 11:18

@wannabebump I did the last two times before I got the results back. I couldn’t wait any longer!

AnxiousLady1 · 02/05/2020 11:26

@wannabebump I'd my bloods and urine on a Tuesday and my scan on the Friday and they confirmed all my risk stats then. I think they just had access to the bloods already and combined that with their NT measurements. Like you, I was planning to hold off off telling anyone until after I got those results, and expected it to be later. So I was pleasantly surprised. That was at St.Georges London.

wannabebump · 02/05/2020 11:32

@ACatCalledLola I think I could be the same! Although DH says we've waited this long, what harm is a few more days!

wannabebump · 02/05/2020 11:33

@AnxiousLady1 that's a great idea to have the bloods etc done before, wish they'd do that up here. I think I'm resigned to the wait though. X

Clove20 · 02/05/2020 11:59

Hi Everyone

I am 10+5 and been prescribed Ondansetron due to hyperemesis. I've had quiet bad constipation and I am just wondering if anyone has had the same experience and what you'd recommend I can buy from pharmacy to help.

futuredreams · 02/05/2020 12:44

Thanks everyone for your responses. I think I should be due something at 16 weeks from what you have said. I'll try to call Monday to see if anything is going ahead for me. I'm also on 5mg folic acid. Anyone have a clue if I'm suppose to continue that? It's just dawning on me how freaked out I was at my appointment. I didn't ask a thing.

MrsR87 · 02/05/2020 12:49

@futuredreams
I’ve got a phone appointment in May at around 16 weeks but nothing in person until my next scan.

I’m glad to see to see other people are already needing maternity bras! I’ve not taken the plunge yet but my current bras are on the edge! I’ll look at h and m. Thanks for recommendations!

SqidgeBum · 02/05/2020 13:10

I think normally you can stop taking folic acid at 12 weeks unless your doc/midwife tells you otherwise.

Fouryearslater · 02/05/2020 13:16

@Clove20 I’m in the exact same situation! I took some over the counter laxatives to no effect, and I’m on some GP prescribed stuff but the only thing that really sorted me out (after 8/9 days) was two doses of suppositories. They were prescribed to me but you can buy them off the shelf.

I’m on my last dose of ondansetron today 😔 really hoping the gp will give me more. I don’t want to end up back in hospital (or feel even worse!).

Clove20 · 02/05/2020 13:43

Thank you @fouryearslater
I will go to the pharmacy and see what they can give me. X

Clove20 · 02/05/2020 13:45

@fouryearslater Ondensetron has been the only medication that worked for me. My GP is also reluctant to prescribe any more after my current prescription finishes

Fredthespider · 02/05/2020 13:47

@Clove20 my midwife recommended Lactulose which is available over the counter from the pharmacy. I've heard of some pharmacists being a bit funny if you tell them you're pregnant (even though it was recommended by the midwife) so if you get asked why you want it I'd just say constipation. It's like a shot of sugar syrup.

Fredthespider · 02/05/2020 13:52

@SqidgeBum How are you doing?
