@rainbows20 I’ve had the heart flutters too and I also heard it was normal Smile

SqidgeBum · 01/05/2020 09:32

I have been having headaches too. One crippled me the other day and I had to take a paracetamol. I really dont like the idea of taking painkillers but my sister (nurse) said it's fine to do so if you really need it.

Audio30 · 01/05/2020 10:06

@SqidgeBum oh the headaches! I did the same and tried so hard not to take anything but I caved in the end and took some paracetamol. I've never had headaches like this before.

And yep to the weird heart flutters! It happened a lot between week 7 and 9 but a bit less now. The midwife said it was totally normal.

I'm getting so impatient for my 12 week scan. Haven't had the appointment through yet and I'll be 11 weeks on Sunday. Desperate to tell people but really want to wait til after the scan. How long before the scan did everyone get their appointment letters?

Hancock2020 · 01/05/2020 10:10

@Audio30 I'm 11 weeks Monday and still have no letter for my scan. I contacted my midwife 3 days ago about it and have still not had a reply.

@rainbows20 I've been having bother with my heart too, but I was supposed to be having heart surgery this year which has been cancelled obviously. So I worry when I get my palpitations 😔

MillieY · 01/05/2020 10:18

I too hadn't heard of date for my scan when I was 11 weeks and midwife text back and said to ring the hospital I'm booked in with for birth to check. Letter came through the next day so I think post was just slow. Might be worth checking direct?

Becca65 · 01/05/2020 10:23

Urggh! I've had to have paracetamol too. If these are anything like my pre-pregnancy ones, I know I have to get on top of them early or they last for days and make me nauseous and cause vision probs. Went to bed early after I took one last night, but it had got worse and woke me up at 4am awful. Had some aspirin that I've been told to take by midwives for preventative reasons, but then later threw up bad when I tried to have some water (not been having morning sickness).

Anyone know of anything natural could try? X

AnxiousLady1 · 01/05/2020 10:24

To those that haven't had letters for their scans, I definitely suggest chasing this up. My midwife told me I should be notified by around 10 weeks. By 10.5 I still hadn't received letters for the scan or my blood tests. I called my midwife and she called me back within 10 mins and confirmed time and place for both appointments (they were booked in the following week). Incidentally, I never received those letters at all, and just turned up for the appointmnts at the times the midwife had told me.

Natopp · 01/05/2020 10:28

Congratulations on all the lovely positive scans!! So great to see all the pictures, it's keeping me going until next Thursday. I'm 12+1 today and really finding the waiting game a bit too much, just want to get the scan done now😬😬

I'm suffering today with a sharp pain low on my left side, it comes every 2 mins or so.

Jaffas22 · 01/05/2020 10:33

@littlegem84 I’ve added you on Facebook please can you add me to the group ☺️ Many thanks!

HarrietM87 · 01/05/2020 11:33

I’ve been having horrendous headaches too. I put it down to the steroid withdrawal as I’m finally weaning off them (hooray!) and I’ve been too scared to take paracetamol! I’ve been drinking loads of water and that’s helping. Still loving the lemon water (just adding bit of lemon juice) even though my nausea is almost gone. I’m 12+5 today and my scan is on Tuesday...getting there!

BuffaloCauliflower · 01/05/2020 11:50

Mind the lemon water on your teeth @HarrietM87, pure lemon juice is very acidic, not great for teeth.

I’m feeling lazy today. Need to get some work done but I’ve slobbed on the sofa. Got my midwife booking in over the phone this afternoon. Wishing it was in person, I’m quite comfortable on the phone (used to work basically on the phone!) but it’s not the same as really speaking face to face

HarrietM87 · 01/05/2020 12:15

I know it’s not great @BuffaloCauliflower - have been vigilant with tooth brushing! I’ve had a bit of bleeding gums actually which I had in my last pregnancy as well. Think it’s quite common.

Does everyone know btw that we are entitled to free dental treatment in pregnancy and until the baby is 1? Though presumably quite hard to access it at the moment!

TangBloodyFastic · 01/05/2020 12:41

5 blissful symptomless days and now the nausea is back 😫
Is there a point at which MS should subside? I'm 11+2 and, stupidly, thought I was over it and was starting feeling human again. Confused

FireflyGirl · 01/05/2020 12:52

It's different for everyone, @TangBloodyFastic.

With DS, I had it until I was 6 months...

I hope yours settles soon.

TangBloodyFastic · 01/05/2020 12:55

Eurrrrrrgh 6 months @FireflyGirl ConfusedConfused I hope i don't have to wait that long.
Before being pregnant I didn't really give my friends much thought when they said they felt rough during pregnancy.... now anyone who tells me they are sick/nauseous will get my total sympathy

TangBloodyFastic · 01/05/2020 12:57

And while I'm feeling sorry for myself (sorry!!!) is anyone else suffering with feeling lightheaded? Sad

Anon87 · 01/05/2020 13:39

Scan done. Bloods took. Midwife seen. One healthy wriggly baby that likes to flash it's bum a lot with a new EDD of bommy night!

FilthyforFirth · 01/05/2020 13:55

Glad to see all the positive scans.

Horrific sickness here still, but with HG 20 weeks the earliest I can hope for a reprieve and I had it the whole time last time...

Only 10+1 and feel like time is standing still. My scan isn't until May 22nd which feels forever away.

Sorry, feeling very sorry for myself today. Had the audacity to have a shower and I followed it up with a huge puking session.

AnxiousLady1 · 01/05/2020 15:19

@FilthyforFirth that sounds like a nightmare. I feel guilty now for complaining about my headaches...

Has anyone else started looking at maternity bras? Haven't a clue where to start and conscious of the fact I can't be measured. I guess I could go with my current bra size (was last measured a few weeks before pregnancy), but I'm working on the assumption they could go a size up over the next while...

noonaah · 01/05/2020 15:23

People with headaches - you can try Tiger Balm or 4head, both of which are external products that you put on your forehead. Tiger Balm in particular smells amazing and works for me.

Audio30 · 01/05/2020 16:12

Sounds like the scan appointment letters are very hit and miss! Thanks for all the thoughts- I think I'll ring the hospital on Monday and see if I can get any info. Has anyone had a consultant appointment immediately after their scan? Was it in person or over the phone? Apparently we need one because it's twins but I don't know anyone who's had consultant lead care before 😕

jeleigh · 01/05/2020 16:23

@Audio30 I have an appointment to see a consultant in person in a couple of weeks but I got this appointment through before my scan. Not 100% as to what mine is about yet or whether I will be classed as consultant led. I would presume all consultant appointments would all be in person though

HarrietM87 · 01/05/2020 16:33

@AnxiousLady1 my boobs have tripled in size already - I’ve been in my old nursing bras since about week 6! They are quite grotty now though so I’ve just ordered some new ones from H&M and M&S. They haven’t arrived yet so can’t confirm quality/fit but both shops sell ones that are more like bra tops/sports bras and they come in small/medium/large with rough cup sizes (so small is equivalent to A-C for example), so you don’t have to know your exact size. I got some like that from M&S in my last pregnancy (they don’t have the exact same ones anymore) and they were great.

Weirdly last time round my boobs were huge first trimester, shrunk a bit for the rest of the pregnancy but then had another growth spurt at the end, so for me I’d like to avoid buying ones of a specific size in case my size changes yet again.

Fouryearslater · 01/05/2020 16:38

My sickness seems to be getting worse too 😥 and I have my last Ondansetron tomorrow and don’t think they’ll give me more. The other two drugs just don’t cut it on their own, I’ve tried. 10 weeks today and like @FilthyforFirth, likely to last until at least 20. I just wish it would all go away.

Hancock2020 · 01/05/2020 16:52

I'm just getting tired of the constant gurgling of nausea, I think it may be the cause of my sore throat too, you know how your throat tightens before you throw up mine always feels tight and sore.
Headaches are constant, just feel really fed up.

Also I've emailed my midwife department now to see if I can get any answers about my scan but still no reply. I'll leave it till monday then I'll have to call, which I dont like to do. I'm not even comfortable calling my own family yet alone strangers lol
