@BuffaloCauliflower I booked it in when there was a chance I wouldn’t be able to have my NHS scan until after 14 weeks, and so I would have missed out on the combined screening. Also my friend’s sister just had a baby with Downs despite a low risk result on the NHS tests which freaked me out a bit. And because I’ve been going to a private clinic anyway (I’ve had recurrent miscarriages and am on steroids until 12 weeks) and they offered it as part of one of my normal appointments, so a combination of things really. I’m 33 so my age-related risk was medium. With my son 2 years ago I just had the NHS nuchal.

Some places offer the harmony a bit cheaper if you’re 10 weeks as opposed to 12, but other than that I think you may as well wait and see what the NHS results show and decide then.

BuffaloCauliflower · 29/04/2020 16:57

Thanks @HarrietM87 that’s helpful

As a side note - my ‘real’ name is Harriet and I was born in 87, so every time I see you post I slightly double take and wonder if it’s me...

HarrietM87 · 29/04/2020 17:06

Ha @BuffaloCauliflower! My name isn’t actually Harriet - I used to love Harriet the spy as a child! I was born 87 though!

Fouryearslater · 29/04/2020 17:19

My new safe food is poached egg on toast. Yum! Only two eggs left now though and it’s not the most filling of meals!

Beccarans89 · 29/04/2020 17:21

Some lovely scan pictures! Congratulations everyone!

Could someone please let me know how I can join the Facebook group? Thank you! 😊

BuffaloCauliflower · 29/04/2020 17:28

@HarrietM87 I also rather liked Harriet the Spy, I used to stand in my window with a notebook 😂

rachelrainbow · 29/04/2020 17:55

Good scan for me too! Lovely heartbeat and baby was chilling so measurements were easy! Was only in there 5 mins. Asked for a picture and she said it was too late! I persisted and she quickly popped the scan back on me and took the photo- it’s terrible! So blurry 😭. My husband can’t even make it out! Hahah such bad luck! I didnt realise I had to ask for a printout!

@rachelrainbow glad it went well! Was this private or NHS?

Addler · 29/04/2020 18:14

Lovely scans everybody!

@Pcosandpregnant oh I wonder if I will be then as well! Thanks for the heads up, good to know. I haven't got my booking in appointment until the 12th and my scan on the 20th. When's yours?

rachelrainbow · 29/04/2020 18:14

@BuffaloCauliflower it was NHS! All very rushed! 😂

BuffaloCauliflower · 29/04/2020 18:15

@rachelrainbow gosh that is rushed. Were you not having any of the screenings?

Whoamieven · 29/04/2020 18:16

@rachelrainbow oh that's such a shame about photo and odd they don't do one!? Especially as fathers can't go :(

Pcosandpregnant · 29/04/2020 18:18

@Addler I did a bit of googling and it is because of the risk of gestational diabetes. But as far as I’m aware my insulin has never been bad anyway. The midwife said the hardest part is actually conceiving so nothing to worry about! I haven’t got my scan date yet it was requested today but I’m hoping it’s not too long! I had my glucose screening test done today too. So worth mentioning it to them just in case Grin

Pcosandpregnant · 29/04/2020 18:19

@rachelrainbow that’s such a shame I can’t believe that Sad

littlegem84 · 29/04/2020 18:33

teaandtantrums90 · 29/04/2020 19:01

@littlegem84 what's the Facebook group for? I've tried to catch up but I can't lol xx

Addler · 29/04/2020 19:23

@Pcosandpregnant thanks! Good to know!

60sPony · 29/04/2020 19:24

I had my scan and due date been moved to the end of October but sticking with you guys here. If this one is anything like my son they’ll be late anyway! Surprised I jumped over a week...

littlegem84 · 29/04/2020 19:40

@teaandtantrums90 it's similar to here but I set it up because I can't keep up with MN's formatting and miss a bunch of stuff and although the anonymity of MN is great for some, I find it easier to talk to people I've gotten to know a bit more if that makes sense? Smile there's 35 of us so far and it's a lovely bunch!

littlegem84 · 29/04/2020 19:40

Forgot to add - it's a secret group that no one can see you are a part of!

NoseringGirl · 29/04/2020 20:11

@Pcosandpregnant I have PCOS and have had GD in my first two pregnancies (though I didn't actually have any high readings in 26 weeks of testing after getting diagnosed in my second pregnancy) and my blood sugar is absolutely fine when I'm not pregnant. My friend who also has PCOS is pregnant with her second baby and tested negative for GD both times. So PCOS does increase your risk but it's not a certainty. It's a very manageable condition though.
My friend is considered low risk and my midwife has told me that I'm only high risk because of previous GD and if my blood sugar stays down this time then I'll be considered low risk. It might depend on your area but if you don't have GD then maybe you'll be considered low risk again if there's no other factors?
Are you getting a full glucose tolerance test? I've had it both times before but they're not doing them in my area at the moment because they want to avoid women needing to be in hospital for the two hours it takes. I just got a hba1c test and a random sugars test instead!
