@HarrietM87 I read that too actually and apparently even sniffing strong citrus smells like lemon can help too! Not tried it myself though haha

Rainbowafterthestorm · 25/04/2020 20:41

@Pcosandpregnant, I have had that a few times. I tended to put it down to bring too full, constipation or gas (sorry!). It soon calmed down though :)

Pcosandpregnant · 25/04/2020 20:58

@rainbowafterthestorm thank you for replying! I think you might be right Grin

Tonicandgin · 25/04/2020 21:23

@HarrietM87

That's interesting, I keep getting that water thing and tend to wait a bit until it's gone away before drinking more water.

I don't think it's being too full here as it's before meals but I'll def try the lemon thing next time.

Rainbowafterthestorm · 25/04/2020 21:57

@Tonicandgin, the reply was to a bloated and hard to feeling tummy a few pages previously, it’s taken me a while to catch up with the thread today.

@Pcosandpregnant no worries, I gave it a couple of days then it calmed down. :)

katsnmouse · 26/04/2020 09:56

@HarrietM87 good to know! I’ve found flavoured teas easier than water to drink- lemon and ginger tea (normally i loath ginger! ) and peppermint tea (again something i normally wouldn’t touch with a barge pole!). Can’t even think about decaff coffee 🤢 which was fine for my other two pregnancies. Weird!

FilthyforFirth · 26/04/2020 10:22

Just got my scan date through and I will be 13+1 for 12 week scan. Is this too late?

I am consultant led and my first consultant appt will be when I am nearly 24 weeks. Just seems quite far ahead..

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 10:27

I seem to have started craving meat 😫😫😫 I haven’t eaten it in years (maybe 5?) was vegan for a few years and now pescatarian, but have never really craved meat it in all that time. Driver is environmental reasons as well as animal welfare, but I just don’t really see meat as food anymore. Now I keep seeing people’s steaks and fried chicken on Insta stories and I want it so much 😭 I’ve not been eating super well due to food aversions so that’s possibly not helping, but I could really do without it!

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 10:27

@katsnmouse I’ve been having a lot of peppermint tea too. Good for settling stomachs

AnxiousLady1 · 26/04/2020 10:43

@BuffaloCauliflower I'm pescatarian too and have not touched fish since confirming pregnancy (other than fish fingers 🙈). Also craved burgers and meat, but I think my craving was coming more for a desire for salty foods. And quorn products are still like gold dust at the moment! Usually they say craving meat indicates a deficiency in certain vitamins but if you're taking pregnancy vitamins I doubt this is necessarily the case. I assumed I was jusy more longing for junk foods rather than a big steak.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 10:50

@AnxiousLady1 through all my food aversions I’ve still been eating fish! Quorn sausages did help but it’s the fat/skin I miss and you can’t recreate that 😂 I’ve heard the cravings indicating deficiencies thing is actually a myth, not just in pregnancy but in general, they’re usually more psychological than physical

NoseringGirl · 26/04/2020 11:07

@BuffaloCauliflower that happened to me in my first pregnancy! I hadn't eaten meat in 15 years and the cravings were overwhelming. I gave in and developed a Big Mac addiction Blush

OP posts:
AnxiousLady1 · 26/04/2020 11:09

@NoseringGirl It's McDonald's burgers I've been craving also!! I read an old wives tale earlier that craving salty foods and meat was an indicator it was a boy 🤷‍♀️

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 11:17

@NoseringGirl I’ve never eaten a Big Mac! Not even when I ate meat. I was a nuggets girl 😂 KFC is the only meat I’ve regularly craved and I know exactly where that comes from psychologically. But right now it’s steak or maybe crackling I could go for. Argh! I don’t even know if I could physically eat it now

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 11:17

@NoseringGirl did you stop again after baby was born or did it carry on?

NoseringGirl · 26/04/2020 11:25

@AnxiousLady1 it was a boy so maybe that was it! I craved salmon with my second boy. All I want is vinegary food this time.

@BuffaloCauliflower I stopped eating meat again shortly after he was born. I was veggie mostly because I don't like meat. I was very strict about it up until then. I started eating fish on and off after he was born and that was my craving with my second baby.
In the last few months I've been eating meat very occasionally but I'm still not a massive fan. Chicken has become a full on aversion in this pregnancy.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 11:31

@NoseringGirl see, I loved meat. Always did. Was a huge meat eater until I stopped pretty rapidly, but it’s never been a problem. My reasons for avoiding it were strong enough. I think I’d feel awful if I did

Hancock2020 · 26/04/2020 11:31

You ladies could do what Joey and phoebe in friends did Joey gave up meat so pregnant phoebe could eat it lol
In all seriousness it does sound like a problem when baby wants something you dont eat what do you do 🤷‍♀️

Wise0wl · 26/04/2020 11:35

@FilthyforFirth my scan is when I’m 13+2, I think it’s fine up until 13+6 from what I’ve read!

@NoseringGirl & @AnxiousLady1 what I would do for a McD’s cheeseburger happy meal right now 😳 we never get fast food and I’ve gone off meat, but have been craving that cheeseburger!!

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 11:36

@Hancock2020 I’m pretty sure it’s psychological more than anything, just need to fight it. DH doesn’t eat it either, except for the occasional bit of chicken, we don’t have it in the house, and with lockdown preventing social gatherings I’d have to really go out of my way to get some. So hopefully I can hold off until it goes away. Unless KFC reopens and I can smell it from my house again 😂

HarrietM87 · 26/04/2020 11:37

Yes @FilthyforFirth anything up to 13+6 is fine. I’ll be 13+3 for mine on 5 May - still seems like ages away! I should have my harmony test results back by then.

Fouryearslater · 26/04/2020 11:39

I’d murder for a filet o fish right now 😏

@FilthyforFirth my scan is at 13 weeks. Just under 4 weeks to wait 😩 it’s within the limits.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/04/2020 11:43

@Fouryearslater Oo yeh a filet o fish would be fab. DH is making scrambled egg on toast that’ll have to do

AnxiousLady1 · 26/04/2020 11:45

I do think part of my reasoning for craving McD burger is because it used to be a hangover staple. No matter how rough I felt, I'd manage a cheeseburger. I think because it's probably so bland 😂 And because MS has been very much like a continuous hangover, I've been relying on my hangover staples when eating.

Now all I can think about is McD burgers again 😭😭 I don't know if I can do it though. No matter what I tell myself I'd feel guilty. I used to smoke and quit about 6 years ago, and don't miss it. But sometimes I have dreams about smoking and I feel so guilty in the dreams! Similar dreams about meat eating. Purely psychological!

FilthyforFirth · 26/04/2020 11:45

Ok great, thanks all. It isnt until May 22nd, so bloody ages away.

What I wouldnt give for a McDonalds right now...
