Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

God I’m feeling shitty this evening! I had a two hour nap today and still exhausted. Completely off food and have had a bread roll for dinner.

Ausbaby43 · 22/04/2020 21:53

@ChampooPapi thank you. It is quite unnerving as we weren’t expecting twins. I have to admit that I’m an interloper from down under on here so we have a slightly different system. I have another scan booked for 2 weeks time- it is probably the test you refer to. My OB wants to diagnose just what type of twins we have, get a closer look, and check on twin 2’s heart rate, which was slower than twin 1. Although still in normal range.
Following that, he will send me to do all manner of tests I’m sure given my age.
We are so fortunate to live in countries where health care is free and available to all. I have spent a lot of time in the UK with family so I know how good the NHS is.
Good luck with your next steps!

Morning all 🌞

Nearly the end of another week, and another week closer to feeling better and our scans. I doubt many will look back on april with a huge amount of fondness, what a month 🤢😷💤😪

@RestorationInsanity I think 20 weeks is the right time to have the whooping cough so it lasts for long enough for your newborn before they get the vaccine themselves? I could be wrong so hopefully someone will come and advise.

My midwife yesterday say most are done at 20 weeks when you go for your scan if you are not self referring it should be an automatic thing.

@Ausbaby43 all my dad's family emigrated to Australia in the 70s so I have a fair amount of them in Adelaide. The NHS is amazing, but I'm having to pay for those tests as unfortunately they are not available yet on the NHS, think they were being rolled out at some point but then obviously covid 19 happened so I doubt they'll replace the current anomonly bloods for a few years yet

Is anyone else watching this new BBC documentary about pregnancy and birth? It’s called life and birth.

ChampooPapi · 23/04/2020 08:00

@peachypetite I watched about twenty minutes yesterday afternoon but started crying within about ten minutes! I'll re visit it today again, but I have to say it did start to make me feel like I was in labour when the young woman at the beginning was pushing and sucking the gas and air. Why were they laughing at her! They would not be welcome at my birth of they were my friend and mother 🤬

OP posts:
peachypetite · 23/04/2020 08:05

Ha ha I’ve been crying non stop but I feel like it’s quite educational and I’m pretty naive about it all! I do agree with you about that young couple also why the hell was her friend fucking filming it?

ChampooPapi · 23/04/2020 08:12

@peachypetite her friend has clearly never given birth before, she wouldn't dream of smirking while filming her otherwise, I think the immaturity was apparent. But the mother has no excuses, maybe she was just really nervous. To be honest I would never want that many people present, one birth partner is enough

@RestorationInsanity - I was given a leaflet about vaccines in pregnancy at the clinic yesterday: advice on Whooping Cough vaccine is anytime between 16 and 32 weeks for maximum effectiveness so your GP is definitely keen!

That documentary sounds interesting: not sure if I want to watch it or bury my head in the sand though. I already got traumatised flicking through my maternity notes book which has everything already in for filling out and the final page is literally a diagram for indicating injuries during birth. Husband and I both shut the notes and walked away at that point LOL. The actual idea of birth doesn't really bother me (yet haha): the proliferation of needles and stitches that accompany it definitely does Blush

Clemmie83 · 23/04/2020 09:13

So I just called to chase my booking appointment and was told that they're going through the file in date order and so I should get a call in the next couple of days...fingers crossed! I don't think it helps that they've shut my local maternity hospital due to the virus so everything just seems a bit chaotic! I think if I haven't heard by Monday afternoon I'll chase again, I'll be 9+2 by then. Do you think that's fair?

EithneBlue · 23/04/2020 09:44

@Clemmie83 -- that sounds like a good plan :-)

Beccarans89 · 23/04/2020 10:24

@Clemmie83 yes I definitely think that's fair!

I watched Life and Birth too and found it really interesting! Although totally agree about the friend filming, I couldn't believe it 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have also been watching some episodes of one born every minute - I am a crying wreck at least once during every episode but as a first timer I am finding it is keeping me positive!

peachypetite · 23/04/2020 11:05

I also thought she had way too many people with her, three people. Surely it’s quite annoying for the midwives.

SYVH · 23/04/2020 11:59

Hi All,

Just taking some tentative steps with my first post! Congratulations everyone Smile Had a MMC in 2017, a CM last year and after finally asking for a referral for IVF found out that I was pregnant a few weeks ago! Very excited but also mad terrified?! I suppose that's all normal. We had an early scan and saw a heartbeat but I know that things can change so staying very very emotional/ anxious for now. I am working from home thankfully but all these weird and wonderful pregnancy symptoms are news to me! No one ever told me that digestion would be an issue?! I switched my pregnancy supplements after being constipated for the first time in my life and now go once a day. I know that going for a walk gets things moving so I'm trying to do that but it's the last thing I want to do when the nausea and exhaustion and bad bad headaches set in! I'm also craving things like mayo, pickle, plain yoghurt, sour tomatoes etc not sure if that nausea related though!

ChampooPapi · 23/04/2020 12:24

@Beccarans89 I'm a crying wreck all the way through! Any program like this I'm a goner by ten minutes in. The babies 😍 god babies are just so small and cute. But the women just make me bawl, everything they say resonates and I'm a puddle of tears by the end. Love a good cry, but after completing that program earlier I was exhausted, that tiny prem baby was too much 😢

Congratulations and welcome to the thread @SYVH ✨👣

So sorry to hear about everything you have gone through up until this point, so so hard to get to that point of an ivf referal and the losses are just devastating arnt they. They will unfortunately inform this first trimester pretty blatantly in the fact you worry so much more about the baby, this is why we need each other on here, it really is a support as well as a distraction which is essential as these weeks are long!

So how many weeks are you, around 7? So fantastic you saw a heartbeat, very very positive as far as I've heard from any midwives or sonagraphers.

All other symptoms normal, you will also get the opposite of constipation I'm afraid at some point but that's very normal too. Dam the headaches, honestly I was mainlining paracetamol up untill last week. Been brewing another migraine the last few days again but managing ok with rest in general.

SYVH · 23/04/2020 12:58

@ChampooPapi thanks so much for your support and kind words Grin I am 7+2 and feeling equally as weepy at the most random things! I daren't watch any baby programmes just yet ha!

I had my booking in appointment with the midwife yesterday- so many questions! Whilst I know it's an important question, needing to confirm that I was safe and not at risk of domestic abuse was interesting- I feel for my husband with all of my mood swings rather than anything else! Poor man!

kkr168 · 23/04/2020 13:20

I have just received my scan date letter, I only had my booking in appointment Monday so very impressed with the turnaround. It's booked for 20th may which will make me 12+2.

Amymone · 23/04/2020 14:08

I hear you on the crying! Went out to clap for the NHS last week and instantly burst into tears. Had to go straight back in due to embarrassment!

lionsmum · 23/04/2020 14:15

@champoopapi can totally relate on the headaches, mine can be horrible too! It's never been migraine-worthy (touch wood) but it does make me bed bound from time to time. They lasted all the way through with my last pregnancy so I don't see them letting up much if I'm honest.

Got an NHS scan tomorrow which I'm so nervous about even though we saw a HB at the private scan last weekend... my sore boobs have vanished and even though I know coming and going of symptoms is totally normal I can't help but think it means something bad! Overactive lockdown brain😅

RestorationInsanity · 23/04/2020 14:18

@SYVH I'm 7+2 today as well! Congratulations. I know what a weird and scary time it must be for you. I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2016, IVF, donor egg IVF (all failed) and an early menopause diagnosis so this pregnancy couldn't have come as more of a shock. I only found out last week and I've had a few panics of "This can't be real. Surely the universe is going to figure out this wasn't meant to happen for us". But so far so good. Great that you've had your booking in appointment already and I hope you can relax into it a bit soon (easier said than done!)

Amymone · 23/04/2020 14:23

@RestorationInsanity congratulations! That's quite the journey to get here! It's obviously meant to be! Fingers crossed for you that all runs smoothly :)

RestorationInsanity · 23/04/2020 14:27

Ah thank you. It's nice to be here, with people with all different journeys. Makes me feel like a normal pregnant woman instead of a freak of nature! It's also 4 years almost to the day that I had the ectopic pregnancy, so it definitely feels a bit like fate!

Sorry to hear about the uncontrollable blubbing, mine's uncontrollable burping which I think is a lot less pleasant!

Clemmie83 · 23/04/2020 14:41

@RestorationInsanity I'm the same with the burping, it's so unpleasant but seems completely out of my control!

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but liquids are really making me feel sick. I'm conscious that I need to keep hydrated however every time I have a drink, no matter what it is it makes me feel nauseous!

Amymone · 23/04/2020 14:41

@RestorationInsanity no freaks of nature!! Bodies are just strange, unpredictable things at the best of times!

JustFrigginNameChange · 23/04/2020 14:55

I have my scan on Friday 15th May and I've managed to get the day off work so I can delay telling them for a bit :) I don't want being pregnant to affect my probabtion
