Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

@Eskdale2004 - I had one of those dreams last week and generally having really weird and sometimes scary dreams. I think it’s the hormones and the anxiety.

I think it’s a really tough stage because we just don’t know what’s going on in there! If I could have a private scan every week I would! I think I’ll have one at 16 weeks to break up the stretch between the 12 and 20 week NHS ones. I’m hoping that when we start feeling them move it might give us some reassurance. When is your scan?

As for the boobs mine have been quite tender but not as bad as they were but I’ve started getting this weird thing - when I get cold my nipples are SO sore! The pain is terrible and takes ages to go away - I have to sit there with a hot water bottle up my top! I looked it up and apparently it has something to do with the blood vessels contracting. All these weird and wonderful things! I’ll take them all for a healthy baby!

MummyShark97 · 13/05/2020 11:05

@teaandbiscuits123 @Eskdale2004 Also had a horrible dream about miscarriage recently - not nice at all. Is your scan soon? Having mine has really calmed me down.

RunnerGirl123 · 13/05/2020 11:05

Sorry to hear some of you are having bad dreams, mine have just gotten weird, but they're always so realistic... it must be horrible to dream about bad things happening to the pregnancy, but try to combat it with positive affirmations when you wake up.

I got my scan date through this morning!! It's 2 weeks today, but before 9am so I'm not complaining! I'll be 12+6, and whilst I was hoping it to be closer to 12 weeks than 13, I am just happy I have my next milestone to count down to!

EithneBlue · 13/05/2020 11:51

I'm going to take a couple of days away from Mumsnet -- scan is on Friday morning and I don't really want to be around discussions about all the things that could go wrong right now: it's making me extremely anxious. I'll check in on Friday after the scan.

123456789sw · 13/05/2020 12:11

If you're having a scan at around 10 weeks is it most likely to be abdominal?
I've booked a private one and the confirmation email states because it is still early they may have to do trans vaginal (which I'd prefer not to).

Teaandbiscuits123 · 13/05/2020 12:15

@123456789sw sometimes they need to do it transvaginal but it is possible to do it abdominally. I had a private scan at 9 weeks and asked them to try abdominally before transvaginal and they didn’t need to do it in the end. So maybe go with a full bladder and ask them to try abdominally first?

123456789sw · 13/05/2020 12:29

Thanks @Teaandbiscuits123

Amytitch · 13/05/2020 12:35

@123456789sw I went at 10 weeks for a private scan and drank 1 litre of water 45 mins before the appointment as they had recommended and I had an abdominal scan and they saw everything they needed to with some lovely photos too x

lionsmum · 13/05/2020 12:48

@123456789sw it was abdominal for me at 7 weeksSmile i think they will always try abdominally first. Good luck!

Eskdale2004 · 13/05/2020 15:00

@123456789sw I think it depends on a lot of factors.

With my first DD I had an early scan at 7+4 and we could see everything abdominally.

A few years later I had a scan at 7 weeks and needed a TV as couldn’t see much abdominally. I was about 5/6 stones heavier than with my first though!

With my last baby, even at 12 weeks they could just make out her flickering heartbeat. The sonography managed to get it clearer and was able to do the measurements in the end but said that my womb is retroverted which along with my BMI didn’t help proceedings. I went for a scan a week later and my womb had moved into the correct position, scan picture was clear as day.

Amymone · 13/05/2020 15:45

Just to say, everyone, that I had an internal scan at 6 weeks and it was completely fine. Seemed to only go in to the end of the tip of the wand - to the point where I asked her if it was in all the way yet! 😂 Not uncomfortable like having a smear test or anything.
Just want to reassure you in case it is an internal scan that you need x

CatandKitten · 13/05/2020 16:45

Hi everyone. I'm 38 years old and expecting my first poss end Nov/Early Dec I think I'm 10 + 4 but I had a small bleed and an abdominal scan a few weeks ago which seemed to put me a week further on than I thought..... I was scared, especially without DP with me, but the staff were lovely, and seeing the "bean" for the first time at 8 weeks, very clearly and with a heartbeat was a huge relief - I keep staring at the picture. As an older first time mum-to-be, I'm already wary, and with the current situation too it's all a bit crackers. Excited and nervous for next Friday (our 12 week scan)…. as haven't told anyone yet.... it's so strange..... xxx I hope you and your bumps are all well.

hollyjg · 13/05/2020 17:33

Hey @123456789sw I had an vaginal scan at 10 weeks to date and it was fine I was worried about it as well but it's not uncomfortable at all! Nothing scary like a smear 😊

Welcome and congrats @CatandKitten

Feeling very very tired today! What is everyone taking in terms of iron supplement?

CatandKitten · 13/05/2020 18:00

Thanks @hollyjg! I am taking the Pregnacare Plus atm. Tired and headachey here too - hope you feel better soon. I've been trying to do some online workouts on youtube - Fitness by Amy is a good one, because you can stop, restart, run to the loo, take a drink etc and it seems to be paced quite well for someone out of practice like me. Finding it has helped with energy, keeping the digestive system going and obv. good for the mind too xxxx :)

Birry · 13/05/2020 21:37

Hello I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and cannot wait to see peach again at the NHS scan which won't be until 13 weeks exactly. I had a MMC at the end of last year - found out at our 12 week scan which was truely awful. Fast forward to now and I was able to have an early scan at 6 weeks to make sure the pregnancy was going OK. It was such a relief to see a heart beat ❤️. As partners aren't allowed to any scans we paid for an early scan last Friday so he could see baby. To see his face beaming when we heard the heartbeat was totally worth it. Will definitely have another scan around 18 weeks to try and find out the gender. Symptom wise I've finally been able to eat hot food again this week (lived off salad for about 4 weeks) and the nausea has subsided. Hope everyone is doing OK during this crazy time and can't wait to follow all of your stories 😊

ChampooPapi · 14/05/2020 08:18

@Birry hello lovely and welcome 🙌 I'm twelve weeks today, my scan is Monday. I also had a missed miscarriage at my twelve week scan last year, in October.

And I saw my babies last week as well at 11 weeks.

We must have really similar due dates, mines the 26th of November.

@Amymone fantastic news 🙌💖

Yes you are this massive wand with a condom on and think the whole thing goes in! But it's literally the first two inches.

*you see

ChampooPapi · 14/05/2020 08:22

@EithneBlue yes that's a very wise decision. I had too as well and it helped me a lot get through those 3 days. I actually completely turned my phone off. It's just too much in the build up otherwise 💜

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 14/05/2020 08:25

And I would definitely advise hiding threads on the pregnancy boards that mention miscarriage to anyone that is anxious (i.e everyone!).

You need to filter that all out currently, it can really send you into a spin and the worry just spirals.

ChampooPapi · 14/05/2020 08:27

@Amymone lol sorry o read that as 'last week's not '6 weeks'

Sounded like I was congratulating you your handling of the probe 😆

OP posts:
Amymone · 14/05/2020 08:54

@ChampooPapi haha yes my handling of the probe was magnificent! 😂

It sounds like we're on the same timeline! I am 12 weeks today, scan on Monday and due on the 26th! Only 1 baby though! Although could very easily have been twins - they could see from the scarring that I ovulated from both ovaries at once that month!

Birry · 14/05/2020 09:02

@ChampooPapi yes I'm due 26th November too 😊 looks like a popular date with @Amymone due then as well!

Amymone · 14/05/2020 09:06

Hooray!

Snowwhite2020 · 14/05/2020 09:18

26th over here too 🙋🏻‍♀️
