Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

Welcome and virtual hug, or handshake (whichever your preference) @MySafeSpace 🙌👣

@kkr168 welcome! Amazing age gap, you both must be so excited about the new baby! Thank you so much for the information on whooping cough for everyone. How are you feeling?

@EithneBlue that’s useful for me to know ahead of mine. I did call and it is in person. Will be the first time I’ve been anywhere in weeks. You’d never have thought before a hospital appt would be a day out. Ladies is anyone else feeling horribly anxious that they are going to get bad news at 12 week scan? I’ve had no symptoms to suggest anything is wrong, not a single bit of spotting but I am feeling anxiety. I’m not usually like this as a person but lockdown is making everything worse.

kkr168 · 21/04/2020 21:05

@ChampooPapi yes it is a HUGE age gap between children, we feel like 1st time parents again! I had absolutely no pregnancy symptoms with my son, didn't even have a bump, i swear I carried him in my bum because that grew 😂
This time I've got painful boobs, nausea's yet starving, tired, cramps!
We haven't told the boys yet, as it was really upsetting having to tell them I'd MC last time, so waiting until after the scan. I've told my sil so far & not planning to tell anyone else just yet.

RestorationInsanity · 21/04/2020 21:23

Hello everyone. Can I join? I'm 31 and 7 weeks pregnant today but it's been a long road! 4 years this weekend I had surgery for an ectopic pregnancy and since then no pregnancies, failed IVF, told we needed donor eggs, had donor egg IVF last year but all embryos died before day 5 and then started going through early menopause! Started HRT 7 weeks ago and found out I was pregnant last Tuesday. Had an early scan on Wednesday and there it was, in the right place and with a little heartbeat! Am counting down the days to 12 week scan and poking my boobs constantly to check they still hurt!

JustFrigginNameChange · 21/04/2020 22:26

@ChampooPapi I am feeling much better now thank you, it's not happened again :) how are you doing?

my scan is on the 15th May! I'm not sure whether to tell work I'm pregnant and need this date off for an antenatal appointment, or whether to be vagueish and ask to have it off as annual leave to go to a hospital appointment. I am still on my probationary period so i don't want to rock the boat too much, especially at this time when work is dying down and there's too many staff on!

EithneBlue · 21/04/2020 22:32

@peachypetite - I think everyone worries about this because we can't look inside ourselves to check everything is OK. I think the key thing to remember is that most of the time pregnancies work out just fine - yes there is a chance that you could be in the small percentage that it's not, and that is something that we all worry about (why else do we wait for that 12 week scan to tell people?) -- but the chances are genuinely small.
Don't forget that boards like this do skew the representation: people who have had bad experiences are obviously more likely to be seeking support. People who have easy experiences tend not to be posting so much -- and also it's human nature to focus on the negative, which is just evolutionary self-preservation...

Interestingly, I experienced this a little with something else -- when I was researching different birth places (because I knew it was a booking question) I started looking at the stats for emergency c sections, which I thought were really really common and likely to happen: turns out the vast majority of women don't have these.
Statistics and perception can play tricks on you.

So my thought is to be aware of it and stay informed, but don't let the anxiety get on top of you :-)

JustFrigginNameChange · 21/04/2020 22:32

@peachypetite yep i have anxiety too I'm expecting to turn up and for them to tell me the baby stopped developing a few weeks back. It's so common and thankfully it hasn't happened to me before but i feel like it will be my time to go through that pain at some point. Its happened to so many people i know

EithneBlue · 21/04/2020 22:32

All that said, I will be very glad to get past the 12 week scan Blush

Patte · 22/04/2020 08:04

Hi, can I join? I'm due early December (4th according to my app and 7th according to the NHS!) First time pregnancy.

And if anyone has any advice on how to swallow the enormous pregnancy vitamin tablets while feeling nauseous I'd love to hear it - I sounded like a cat trying to get rid of a furball this morning!

Lavenderpurple · 22/04/2020 08:32

Hello 👋
I’m 32, I’m on my 4th pregnancy but hopefully second baby. I’ve had 4 booking in appointments but so far only one pregnancy has made it.
MMC then had my dd who’s nearly 2 then a MC at Christmas.
Trying not to allow myself to be excited but feeling more positive for this one.
Also anxious about Coronavirus but I’m pregnant now so no point worrying!
Due 26th Nov so I’m 8+6
Congratulations to you all. Smile

ChampooPapi · 22/04/2020 08:35

@Patte welcome 👣 🎉 I'd say def don't take them in the morning!. I'm not supprised you were retching, I'd be sick if I took any pills before about 11am. Maybe take them in the late afternoon or evening? I also find liquid suppliments easier, pregnacare ect has always made my neseua worse and they are huge horse pills in my opinion.

Liquid vitamin d and liquid spa tone iron are my staples. Though I do swallow a folic pill but that's those tiny ones.

Maybe a jelly multi vit without the vitamin A might also help? Those jellies are like sweets so very easy to much currently.

Welcome all and sorry I can reply to anyone else as I'm also feeling the queese this morning. About to die on the sofa while my family does joe wicks 🤦

Hi Ladies!
Please can i join?
I am 29 and pregnant with my first, currently 8weeks and 2 days.
Due either very very end of November to 2nd December, my periods were never exact so somewhere around there.
Ive just spent the last 20 minutes reading everything youve all been sharing and you all sound so lovely.
I havent called the doctors yet, I have this really nervous feeling that by making it official something might happen.
I am also joining the nausea train! its been absolutely awful from 6-8weeks and yesterday it seemed slightly better and this morning im feeling ok, i dont want to get my hopes up though as sometimes it tricks me.
looking forward to sharing our journeys!

X

peachypetite · 22/04/2020 08:48

Thanks ladies for your kind words. I know I’m being irrational.
@OoOoBabyLove you really need to get in touch with your hospital because you need your booking appt done ideally before 10 weeks. Most of them now you just self refer online, no need to contact GP. Have a google and it should come up.

OoOoBabyLove · 22/04/2020 09:02

thankyou for the kick up the bum i needed, ive just googled it and managed to register it via and e consult at the GP. ok now its official! exciting! 😍 xx

EithneBlue · 22/04/2020 09:22

@peachypetite Statistically you're being irrational. Emotionally you're being human. If in doubt, blame the hormones ;-)

Question: Is anyone else thirstier than they have ever been in their lives? I just drank a full litre of water and my mouth still feels like a desert.

ChampooPapi · 22/04/2020 09:30

@EithneBlue so much! Mainlining water 24/7

OP posts:
peachypetite · 22/04/2020 09:34

@EithneBlue I’m waking up every four hours needing the toilet at night and I wake up with a mouth drier than the Sahara. It’s like that nasty hungover wine mouth but alas no wine has passed these lips!

Saraelle · 22/04/2020 10:18

Hi all,

I’ve popped across from the other thread to say hi to new people. I am due either 1st/3rd or 4th Dec but I am sure baby will show up when baby wants to 😂 I’m 34 and my fiancé is 41 and this is our first baby neither of us have prior children. We have had to postpone our wedding due to this virus but in light of our good news in this crappy situation that’s probably for the best! I would not be getting in my dress at 6 months 😂. We live in Shropshire, UK. And I am currently working at home, luckily I work for family so I pretty much decided not to go in once I had a positive test!

My partner and I were trying for 2 years and as I have never had a scare or accident, we thought it would be helpful to get checked out and ended up having IVF. I did have 2 embryos implanted but even though the sonographer could see a second sac there was no longer a baby in that one. So just the one for me. We have another egg on ice should we want to use that in the future (will see how one goes first 🙈).

I’ve had my early scan and all was good at 7 weeks. I am now 8+1. Thankful I am not being sick but my nausea is strong, getting a lot of “period” pains but I know this is all normal. Can i ask though is anyone struggling to get up in a morning? I’ve slept all night apart from a trip to the toilet and then I am shattered in the morning!

It’s nice to speak to other people who are going through the same motions and feelings at the moment.

Good luck with your journeys!

GrendelsCat · 22/04/2020 10:41

Hi everyone! Mind if I join in too?

I'm 34, 8+2 with second baby. I'm really struggling with the morning sickness atm. Not throwing up as often as with my first pregnancy (yet!), but I feel so ill 24/7 and I'm finding it hard to be present for my daughter (she's 15 months). Last time I was vomiting multiple times a day through to 20 weeks so I'm keeping everything crossed this one goes easier on me!

I also have a bit of pregnancy anxiety, like I'm sure we all do right now. Had a rough time with my daughter's birth (might be triggering - crash c sec, 1 month in NICU, she suffered a severe brain injury due to lack of oxygen but actually is doing just fine right now, we're v lucky). Anyway, we waited until we thought the time was perfect for a calm second pregnancy, then coronavirus hit like 2 weeks later. We actually decided to stop trying for a bit while things calmed down, but I guess we were too late!

Anyway, that's me. My booking in appointment isn't for weeks (I'll be 11+6!), so it doesn't really feel "official" yet. Except the morning sickness is certainly helping to remind me what's going on!

lionsmum · 22/04/2020 12:29

Thank you so much for welcoming me @champoopapi

I hope everyone is well. Totally agree about the thirst @eithnevlue I'm totally the same!

I have an early scan with the NHS on Friday and even though I had a private one last Sunday and everything looked good I'm still so nervous for it, so can totally sympathise with those feeling the nerves too! Lockdown is also amplifying everything by 100. I'm the same as you @GrendelsCat by booking appointment isn't til I'm 11+ weeks. Congrats to all joiningSmile

Ausbaby43 · 22/04/2020 13:06

Hello all. I’ve just had an early scan and confirmed today 7+3 with twins! Due early Dec.
This is our fourth pregnancy- the first three ended in miscarriages and we never got to see their hearts beat so to see two clear heartbeats today made my day/week/year.
I’m 43- it’s been a long journey- and I’m terrified of something going wrong, but for now celebrating small milestones day by day, trying not to think too far in advance.
I’m only now starting to feel the effects of nausea. Hoping that’s not a bad sign. Thank you for creating this group. Hope we can all support each other.

EithneBlue · 22/04/2020 13:17

Hi to all the new people :-)

I actually feel pretty terrible today: nauseated, gagging randomly, feel like I've swallowed a rock, tired and thirsty. I genuinely feel like I had a great night out last night (except, you know, I was in bed at 10pm).
That'll teach me for bragging to my husband yesterday that I'm getting off lightly in terms of symptoms.

EithneBlue · 22/04/2020 13:26

Also I just had to buy a new bra online because even though my boobs aren't consistently sore, they are now actually falling out of my bra. I was already wearing a D-cup Blush

Saraelle · 22/04/2020 14:34

Welcome @Ausbaby43, congratulations and twins too! Keep thinking as positive as you can and like you say day by day. Wishing you lots of luck and sending love. Nausea seems to be the norm for most of us and thirst! I’ve gone off hot drinks, loved my cups of tea, now it’s squash or water most of the day.

@EithneBlue I bought a bra extension clip for a couple of mine, worked a treat but the cups are quite big on the bras anyway so a bit of growing room left 😂
