Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

Welcome @Ausbaby43 🙌👣 and double the fun for you too! I'm a week ahead and I have to say that my neseua is only just getting better the last few days. I'm eating a lot better now though. When is your next scan? 12 weeks? Or are you having the Harmony/nipt/panorama test at ten weeks? Mine is booked for in two weeks, will only be able to find out the sex of they are both girls though. If there is any male dna they can't tell you whether both or just one twin is a boy. I will be pleased to see them on a scan again before 12/13 weeks, this time is dragging a bit now I'm more 'alive'. (She says typing on her phone completely horizontal).

@EithneBlue ha yes, ive been feeling a fair bit better then the first 4 hours of this morning I was so feeble and queesy. Bring on the second trimester 💪

@Ausbaby43 congratulations!! I’m 7+4 with twins and so we’re probably about the same. Keep thinking positive!

@ChampooPapi what are the harmony/nips/panorama tests?

My booking in appointment isn’t until 11 weeks which seems to be the same as a few others and my scan isn’t until 13 weeks which feels quite late. Is there a cut-off by which the 12 week scan needs to be done?

ChampooPapi · 22/04/2020 15:20

@Bobbieblu 13 weeks is very standard for the 12 weeks scan and tests because a lot of women think they are further then they are so it gives a good chance of being able to actually do the scan at that appointment. As long as it's before 14 weeks it's fine.

I'll link you to the information about the Harmony test. It's basically a much more accurate test to detect certain abnormalities, especially down syndrome, Edwards and Pataus. It's very very accurate and they take blood and do a scan.

The results are back in a week to ten days and you have the test at 10 weeks instead so you only need measurements taken then at your 12 week scan. It's 400 pounds, though sometimes about 250 of you only have the bloods and it's done through your NHS hospital, worth asking!

I'll link a thread with a lot of info on next

Really informative thread about the tests here ladies.

Remember it is NOT diagnostic but will give you a 99% accuracy of you are deemed low risk, where as the NHS test is only 89, and comes with issues relating to age ect, as they don't actually test your babies dna, where as the nipt/harmony does.

Very personal choice though.

And it's not cheap!

Gosh, there's a few of you having twins! Congratulations (and to everyone else as well, of course!).

ChampooPapi · 22/04/2020 15:25

Oh my god that is definitely not the thread 🤦

I'll try again!

@champoopapi Thank you!

MummyShark97 · 22/04/2020 15:59

Hello - just wanting to join in this thread!

I'm 23 and this is my first pregnancy. I am 8+4 and think I am due about the 28th Nov. I have my booking in appointment tomorrow so looking forward to getting things moving.

Also very sure I've got a definite little bump now but that seems crazy?

been lovely reading about everyone's journey so far - congrats to everyone :)

Beccarans89 · 22/04/2020 16:08

@MummyShark97 we're due date twins! I am due on the 28th, so 8+4 too! Exciting stuff!

Yes I think the same! Not necessarily a proper bump but my lower stomach has gone rock hard and can't breathe in or anything really anymore! Crazy!

MummyShark97 · 22/04/2020 16:20

@Beccarans89 awh wow how exciting! Congratulations!

glad to know I am not imagining things!

EithneBlue · 22/04/2020 16:28

@Bobbieblu I've been told my '12 week scan' will be scheduled for anywhere between 12 and 14 weeks :-)

Clemmie83 · 22/04/2020 16:36

@MummyShark97 @Beccarans89 I'm also due on 28th! I keep thinking maybe I have the tiniest bump but then it could just be bloating, not sure!

RestorationInsanity · 22/04/2020 16:40

In some ways I don't want the 12 week scan to arrive, only 4/5 weeks to go. At the moment, the happiness is so nice, and it feels that after everything that's fine before it can't last, so I just want it to last as long as possible!

RestorationInsanity · 22/04/2020 16:41

Gone not fine!

Beccarans89 · 22/04/2020 17:03

That's exciting @Clemmie83, it will be interesting to see if any of our dates change! Have you had your scan date through? Mind is Monday 18th May so will be 12+2!

peachypetite · 22/04/2020 17:06

@RestorationInsanity glad you feel like that, I’m the total opposite can’t stop worrying.

Clemmie83 · 22/04/2020 17:07

@Beccarans89 No I haven't heard anything yet! Completed my self referral form at 6 weeks and they've now had their 10 working days they say to allow for them to respond so I'm going to chase up tomorrow. Doesn't feel like it's real yet with nothing booked in!

RestorationInsanity · 22/04/2020 17:18

@peachypetite oh don't get me wrong, I laid awake most of the night and cried first thing this morning thinking it was all going to go wrong. Realistically this is probably our only real chance, our "miracle", so there is a huge amount of worry. I just never even thought we'd be here, so I'm trying to enjoy whatever I get. I had a scan at 6+1 and have the scan pic on the notice board in our home office. If it's the only memory we get so be it. Hugs to you, I hope the weeks speed by with happy news.

Beccarans89 · 22/04/2020 17:32

@Clemmie83 yeah good idea, definitely worth chasing up! I first referred through my doctors and didn't hear anything, so I phoned the midwives directly and they said that often happens and they took all my details and I heard within a few days! Had my booking in appt last weds and then received scan date Monday! So hopefully you'll get it through quickly too! At least once you've got the letter it shouldn't be too long to wait. 😊

Clemmie83 · 22/04/2020 17:35

@Beccarans89 that's good, sounds like things moved quite quickly for you! Was your booking face to face or over the phone?

Beccarans89 · 22/04/2020 17:57

@Clemmie83 it was over the phone, took about 30-40 mins. She also booked in my 16 week appointment to be face to face as it's a while away yet, so hopefully that one will be at the clinic! Will have to wait and see. Good luck with chasing yours, I'm sure things will move quickly!

EithneBlue · 22/04/2020 17:59

@Clemmie83 Definitely chase it: I had my bloods appointment today (actual booking was by video call) - ended up waiting 40 minutes because they lost my appointment as a result of all the coronavirus system changes. They were so apologetic (not like I had anywhere else to be LOL) but she was saying they're having to make a lot of very rapid changes to how they work so a few things falling through are probably to be expected. Give them a nudge :-)

ChampooPapi · 22/04/2020 18:13

Yes anyone who hasn't received their booking in appointment date by now needs to ring their local midwives, a quick Google will bring up their contact numbers.

For anyone who hasn't heard I would safely assume now that it you don't take it into your own hands you may be waiting forever! It's absolutely fine to call them yourself, in these times we must be proactive with our care and chase things up, it is our right to do this and is ok 😊

RestorationInsanity · 22/04/2020 18:17

I'm 7+1 but only self referred last week as I didn't find out til last Tuesday! If I don't hear by next Tuesday I will call though as I don't want to get lost in the system. Amazingly my GP already called to ask me to book my 16 week whooping cough vaccine! I told them I'd book after the 12 week scan if they didn't mind!
