Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

Hi all Smile I am 28 years old, expecting first baby November 20th so currently 9 weeks + 3 days. Trying since June last year, had a very early miscarriage in September so feeling a little bit anxious about this one but doing well so far Smile Did my booking over the phone and just went to the maternity unit for blood tests etc. Have booked a private scan for 10 weeks (this Saturday) as I can’t wait until 12! Really hope everything is ok, I’ve been relatively calm since I got my BFP but the worries are starting to creep in...

Amymone · 20/04/2020 14:09

Just had my booking appointment on phone. Nearly 2 hours and it was fab! Lovely lady, chatty and reassuring. Feels really nice to be in the system and be able to be guided through it all.
She's finding out about whooping cough vaccinations etc in the current climate but in theory should be able to roll in with how appts are currently staggered.
Got a harmony test in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to the scan element!

JustFrigginNameChange · 20/04/2020 14:46

@Amymone my booking appointment was only 45 minutes!

Clemmie83 · 20/04/2020 14:51

@Amymone @JustFrigginNameChange I've heard they take a while! What do they cover that takes so long??

RunnerGirl123 · 20/04/2020 15:05

I've been told mine will take about an hour. Just a telephone consultation for this appointment then all bloods will be done at my scan.

What do they ask in the family medical history? What sort of questions have you guys asked?

Amymone · 20/04/2020 15:51

I have a bit of a complicated recent medical history so mine probably took longer than most!!

EithneBlue · 20/04/2020 15:55

@RunnerGirl123 The form I have has things in the family history section like heart problems, diabetes, mental health, hearing problems, blood disorders, mutiple births etc... I guess because they are checking what problems might be inherited? I was a bit alarmed by the number I had to tick yes on!

I am back at 'work' (online) today. Suddenly exhausted by 2pm. Probably good I'm not actually physically in work.

Beccarans89 · 20/04/2020 16:09

Hi all! Very excited to be joining this group! I'm 30 years old and pregnant with baby number 1. Due on 28th November too so 8+2 weeks today. Had my booking in appointment over the phone last week and got my scan letter through the post today so that's exciting.
My anxiety seems to be going up and down, have been relatively ok but today I've been anxious about the wait until the scan. Very worried about MMC but I know there isn't a lot we can do. Lockdown definitely doesn't help having all this extra thinking time!! Hope everyone is doing ok x

Mumwithasorebum · 20/04/2020 16:19

Hi everyone! Hope it's okay if I can join? I am 31 years old and expecting my third on 20th November. Had an early miscarriage last November so currently a lot more anxious than in any of my previous pregnancies so thought I'd join for some support and reassurance. Have had nausea and major tiredness since Week 6 but it only seems to be rearing it's ugly head in the evenings now so I hope that's a sign of things subsiding. Had a tiny bit of spotting last week but nothing since. Had my booking appointment over the phone on Friday past so just waiting on my 12 week scan appointment coming through the door - the wait is going to be excruciating!

Quick question, does anyone feel like their uterus is the size of a massive grapefruit?! I don't remember it feeling so uncomfortable before...

Charl2701 · 20/04/2020 17:32

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well and keeping safe. I’m 30 and due with my first early December, I think! I’m 8 weeks exactly tomorrow. I sadly had a mmc in December a few days before Christmas at 10 weeks which was horrendous but my partner and I are over the moon to be pregnant again so quickly. Trying not to let anxiety kick in and feeling slightly more positive as this time I have a lot more symptoms than before. I found out at 5 weeks and filled out my self referral hospital form straight away but am yet to hear anything about my booking in app/scan. Debating weather I should book an early private reassurance scan. X

ChampooPapi · 20/04/2020 17:32

Ahh I love it when a good mumsnet anti-natal thread comes together 🥰

Welcome new beautiful and brilliant pregnant women! Welcome to @Beccarans89 @Mumwithasorebum and @Bettie2192, congratulations to you all.

Yes I definitely feel like mine is the size of a grapefruit @Mumwithasorebum but there are twins in there so that might be to be expected! No excuses for my middle area though poking out slightly, I was a good size 14 when this all started so that area was already on it's sweet way out.

Booking in appointments definitely take longer depending on the medical history part, as that can take so long for them to record. I often wonder if they have access to your medical notes on their computers, they never seem to know anything at all when I've been but that may be their style to relax you into thinking they don't know anything 😉

Having a good day today, eating normal food at last, salads and quiche type things, rather then the standard crisps, cheese and bread I've lived off for the last month

Congratulations @Charl2701, and welcome to the thread 👣💜

You've been through so much, I can relate to wanting to see how everything is progressing, well to just see that there is an actual viable baby in there really isn't it?! After going through what we did, you never trust the process fully, especially at this frankly crappy time. I know we should be grateful for our blessings of being pregnant, but it's ok to vent on this thread , it is a tense time with a lot of worries to negotiate. We are her for you 🤗

*here for you 🤦

ChampooPapi · 20/04/2020 17:44

@Charl2701 and I really would chase up your booking in. Just find your local midwives number online and phone them, then they should give you a date either there and then beca they will check their availability. Or you'll leave a message and they will.call your back with one. Don't be afraid to call them, it has been ages and you should have heard by now. Paperwork must be very backdated or something but it's definitely time to give them a call. Even tonight is fine, they are always there pretty much and as I said you can just leave a message lovely

Mumwithasorebum · 20/04/2020 20:53

@ChampooPapi twins! That’s so exciting!! I doubt I’ll get that lucky... do twins run in your family? And have you noticed any differences between this pregnancy and your previous two? I have a son who’ll be 4 in June and a wee girl who’s just turned 2 and both pregnancies were pretty much identical to this one... apart from the massive grapefruit feeling Confused

ChampooPapi · 20/04/2020 21:03

@Mumwithasorebum haha, yes I've got two others as well so it may be we are both just stretching out comfortably early after several rides of the pregnancy rodeo 😆

I must say I also felt like this last time with my single pregnancy, I seem to expand fairly fast and then it stops for months and I just look like I've put on extra weight. Always end up with a nice neat bump eventually, though this time I doubt that's a possibility!

My youngest girl is two as well, how are you coping on house lockdown currently? Please tell me you have a garden, this has been a godsend with the toddler for us, she's a wild beast!

JustFrigginNameChange · 20/04/2020 22:27

TMI warning but i found a little bit of brownish discharge today so that caused me a bit of concern. It's not happened again since so I may just document it and call the GP if it happens again. I don't think much can be done at this stage if things go sour (8 weeks +2). I've never had a MMC before and the thought scares me, mainly the having to tell people it's over if they ask how the pregnancy is doing. I think anyone who has been through it is very brave.

MySafeSpace · 20/04/2020 22:51

May I join pls?
I'm 34 and currently expecting first baby, due 29th Nov. I had my booking appointment over the phone last week, just waiting for scan date. Was tempted to try privately for an early scan but nowhere local appears to be doing them!!
Symptoms are crazy at the mo, I feel nausea most of the day with not much appetite at all.
Still working at the moment but the tiredness is horrendous.
Hoping it subsides soon

Mumwithasorebum · 21/04/2020 07:31

@ChampooPapi haha, I’m sure you’ll bloom beautifully! Yes, I think you’re maybe right about it all popping out early - great! 😂

We’re actually dealing ok with the lockdown. I think ours are young enough that it isn’t massively affecting them and yes, we do have a garden which is an absolute godsend!! Looking at the positives of it all and at least my husband is home to help with them otherwise I don’t think they would have had a decent meal in these past few weeks the way I’ve been feeling 🤢

@JustFrigginNameChange I had this around the same time (8+4 I think I was) and the midwife put it down to perhaps being around the time where I’d normally have a period. It came on in the evening and I had a bit the next day too but it never came to anything more. I can’t wait to get my scan to find out if everything’s okay! It’s so, so worrying so I totally feel for you 😩 How are you feeling this morning?

kkr168 · 21/04/2020 08:05

Morning ladies!
Bit of info about me ......
I'm 34, 35 in a few weeks.
I class myself as a mum of 3 boys, but only gave birth to 1, my husband was a single dad to 2 boys when we started dating. The boys are 22, 19 & our son is 16, so we have a huge age gap between babies, so much so that the midwife assumed this pregnancy was with a different dad!!
We have been together 18 years, married for 5 of those.
I had a MC on 1st Jan at 6 weeks pregnant, so fell pretty quickly with this pregnancy.
I'm 8+1 today, I had my due date as 30th Nov but the midwife changed it to 28th due to having short cycles.
I had my booking appointment over the phone yesterday, only took 30 mins. She said I'd get my scan letter within the next 2 weeks, I'll have urine & bloods done at the scan.

I've seen whooping cough vaccine mentioned a few times, she told me I'd get that at my 20 week scan, also suggested getting a flu jab around September.

peachypetite · 21/04/2020 08:37

Hi all. Moving over from the other thread. I’m 32, first pregnancy, London based. Week 6/7 were my worst, had terrible nausea that lasted all day. I’m feeling a bit better now but still off food and eating mainly fruit and crackers and cheese. Just eating what I want when I fancy it instead of forcing lunch dinner etc. My booking appt is in a few days and is in person. Well, nobody has said otherwise but I’m going to ring them to double check. I used the nhs calculator which gives me 25/11 as due date. I’m very glad to have the network of women at the same stage as me on here. I’ve only told immediate family and one friend who hasn’t experienced pregnancy, it’s good to be able to talk . I’ve been sleeping 10 hours a night and sometimes in the day too.

JustFrigginNameChange · 21/04/2020 09:13

@Mumwithasorebum funnily enough I would have been due on around the 21st so it could be that. It's not happened again. This morning i am feeling exhausted and nauseous and hungry, the usual! Being back at work is hitting me like a tonne of bricks. I've been off for 2 weeks. How are you? :)

RunnerGirl123 · 21/04/2020 09:15

Welcome to all the new ladies!

I had a dream last night that I had a girl who shared the same birthday as me... which is entirely possible as my birthday is mid November. Will be interesting to see if either come true haha!

EithneBlue · 21/04/2020 15:18

Just had my booking appointment via video call and now need to pop in to the clinic tomorrow to collect my notes and do the blood/urine samples. It was really chill and easy, actually - midwife was lovely and luckily she says all my stats and info look to be low risk :-) I was slightly worried that my BMI would be an issue (I'm technically 'overweight' by BMI but I exercise a lot and am a size 10-12) but she was like, 'nah, it's under 30, no worries' -- I wasn't surprised by the 'where do you want to give birth?' question because it was on the form that I'd already been sent so I'd had time to do some research, but I was a little surprised that she asked me about whether I was planning to breastfeed or formula feed: I was like ... er... probably breastfeed but I'm also not going to agonise over it if it doesn't work out. I think the question was only so that they make sure I have all the right info, but I did have an 'oh yeah, s**t, there's an actual baby at the end of this' moment Blush
All my questions were answered and she booked my 16-week appointment as a clinic appointment (although that might change to video call if circumstances force it to).
Dating scan letter should arrive in the next couple of weeks by post, scheduled to take place somewhere between 12 and 14 weeks.

ChampooPapi · 21/04/2020 18:58

Welcome to every new blooming (or throwing up) pregnant women 🙌

Good to see you here @peachypetite, I can reassure you that this is a Doppler free zone (well from my end anyway!). This week is dragging, we need April done and dusted, we will all be on to better times and feeling more energetic then too

@JustFrigginNameChange how are you feeling? I had this too and it did turn very red and bloody over the course of the week but after a scan it showed to be a bruise from implantation starting to come out. It happens to 50% of women between about 6-12 weeks, week 8 being very common. And many of the other women are assumed to absorb the bleeding instead. How long until you are scanned?
