Hi ladies,

Finally getting a few lucid moments from the crippling neseua so wanted to start a thread for anyone due around this time.

There are a fair few threads knocking around for around the same months so this one is more for women who prefer not to do the whole Facebook thing or join what app groups. Well not quite yet anyway.

Of course anyone is welcome and if joiners decide to link up in those other ways at whatever point then I for one will definitely support it. It's so good to have support across whatever platforms we use as women, we need either other

💪 To the sisterhood

Anyway. My stats are-

Age 33 this past April
We have two children already both girls age 2 and 10
My Partner/fiancee is also 33 and we've been together 11 years,

We were supposed to be having a civil partnership (yes he is a man) last month but it was cancelled due to covid so it's now next year.

Expecting non identical twins the end of November, but good chance I'll get cut open or induced before then.

See how far we get!

I'm 8 weeks and 2

I had a missed miscarriage at my 12 week scan back in October so this pregnancy took me 5 months on from then to conceive.

Enough about me, how is everyone feeling?

The first trimester sucks so hard doesn't it!

@meplusfive I'm so so sorry to hear this. Absolutely devastating. Look after yourself xx

Snowwhite2020 · 11/05/2020 10:57

@meplusfive I am so so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart goes out to you. There are no words.. It is a blessing your partner has been such a strength to you in this terrible time. Look after yourself and each other during this very difficult time. All my love 💐

EithneBlue · 11/05/2020 11:28

@meplusfive I am so sorry to hear this :-( Sending you love x

Teaandbiscuits123 · 12/05/2020 08:38

How is everyone feeling? Xx

EithneBlue · 12/05/2020 08:45

@teaandbiscuits123

  1. Relieved that I sorted the school issue. It appears my headteacher forgot 😂 No harm done!
  2. Hungry but too lazy to get out of bed and make toast.
  3. Counting the days until my scan: 3 more sleeps. Nervous.
  4. A little edgy about the government announcement on schools.

How is everyone else doing?

Teaandbiscuits123 · 12/05/2020 09:03

@EithneBlue - I’m glad you got school sorted, what year do you teach? I’m also slightly anxious about what will be - I think they’re going to try to get all the kids back for at least a month before the holiday but I don’t know where we’ll stand being pregnant.

I’m feeling much better this week which is strange but I’ve been having the odd ‘funny turn’ all of a sudden. I have more energy (as in I don’t need to nap in the day) but then I’m ready for bed by 9.

Only 3 days until your scan! That’s exciting Smile

firstbabybell · 12/05/2020 09:18

Hi @eithneblue & @teaandbiscuits123 - also 3 days til scan. This week is going so slow. My nausea is much much better but has returned a little.

I had as bit of a meltdown yesterday about work - as in this is what my life is going to be like until August (when I'm sure to start a new job). At home, telephone consultations, not going out our seeing friends.

I can't imagine your unions are going to let you go back when pregnant - surely it's not worth the headache to the schools?!

I also feel like we're all probably shaken up by what happened to that poor girl this weekend. I am so sad for her. Truly awful & makes you very fearful about your own pregnancy.

I'm hoping I feel more positive & a little more connected to what's going on inside when I have my scan.

Teaandbiscuits123 · 12/05/2020 09:41

@firstbabybell hello lovely, yes I think you’re right the news on the group has shaken me up too and it does add to the anxiety. Such a devastating thing to happen. I’m trying to take each day as it comes and keep busy.

People have been asking me about getting baby things (there seems to be a lot of stuff being given away at the moment because people are clearing out!) but I’m feeling cautious about it.

Lockdown is really taking its toll - and like you say it seems to be such a long stretch into the summer. Hopefully the weather will pick up and we can make the most of outside with picnics etc.

I think the hormones also have a lot to do with it - especially mixed with anxiety. I kept bursting into tears last week when I got mean work emails from parents! Your scan should make you feel better and the next few days will pass quickly! I think it’s hard not knowing what’s going on in there - you feel so out of control! I hope today is a good day for you xx

EithneBlue · 12/05/2020 09:49

@teaandbiscuits123 - I teach secondary so year 7-11 :-)

I don't think I'll buy baby things until after 20 weeks TBH - I am still hoping that some shops will be open to physically look at items. If all is well on Friday, though, I have budgeted a little bit of cash to purchase some maternity clothes :-)

Teaandbiscuits123 · 12/05/2020 09:57

@EithneBlue yes 20 weeks was my plan too and then everyone started making me feel like I was being odd! Glad to hear not!

Hopefully the shops will be open by the time we need to look. Are you ready for maternity clothes? I feel like I could do with some leggings and knickers! Things are starting to get tight (not that I’ve had to wear many ‘proper clothes’! This week my belly seems to have popped a bit, especially at night.

MummyShark97 · 12/05/2020 10:02

@teaandbiscuits123 same here! could do with some nice comfy leggings.

I'm feeling a bit better today after a couple of horrible days feeling like I just need to lie down the whole day

EithneBlue · 12/05/2020 10:08

@Teaandbiscuits123 -- haha! Not at all ready for maternity clothes, but I want to have some ready for when I do need them plus some more clothes for that awkward interim phase of nothing fitting (which may well be some bigger dresses and leggings!). Mostly though I think I just want to go shopping! My jeans and shorts are definitely tighter now (but I also still think a lot of it is bloat).

Ayannah · 12/05/2020 10:10

Morning all. meplusfive’s news was really dreadful and I hope she’s doing OK. It’s just such a worrying time. I keep veering between all day worry, and thinking I should just pull myself together and enjoy the privilege of being pregnant.

Sounds like tHere are a few scans this week. Fingers crossed for everyone. I have my NIPT test on Thursday. Not really looking forward to it given the episodes of bleeding I’ve had - feel a bit like I’d rather just bury my head in the sand! On the plus side, if everything looks OK on the scan, I’ll feel a lot more relaxed for the NHS 12 week scan next week!

Really feel for those of you working in schools. My business is closed because we supply small non essential retailers (who are of course all closed). It’s quite nice to be at home to be honest, but I’m worried for the future of the business. We can’t afford to keep paying everyone if the situation continues for many more weeks, even with the current furlough assistance.

PS. Did catch myself looking at baby grows online a few days ago Smile.

peachypetite · 12/05/2020 10:13

Morning all. I think it’s far too early to buy baby items, I’ll def be waiting until much further along this journey. I’ll have to get some bigger bras soon but most of the time in the house I’m not wearing anything ha ha. Living in pyjama bottoms too and wearing jogging bottoms for walks!

roro87 · 12/05/2020 11:16

Hey Everyone.

Meplusfives news really shook me up yesterday, really set my anxiety on edge, think it is worse anyway because my scan is in a weeks time. Trying my hardest to distract myself and stay positive.

I'm not buying anything major until 20 weeks, I really need a pregnancy pillow been achy in my sides when I wake up so I may have to buy this before the 18 weeks.

Good luck to all who have scans this week

Eskdale2004 · 12/05/2020 11:19

I’m around 11+3 at the moment but I’m not sure as my LMP was 13/02/2020 which would put me closer to 13 weeks. Didn’t get a faint positive until 18/3/2020 though so thinking it’s unlikely that I’m as far along as that.
Still no booking appointment and no scan date. Rang them up yesterday to pester and got told a midwife would be in touch yesterday afternoon to arrange a time for an over the phone booking in appointment but I’ve heard absolutely nothing 😩
Feel like my symptoms are rapidly disappearing now too. My sickness seems to be going for a couple of days then coming back for 1 and my boobs are far less tender than they were.

peachypetite · 12/05/2020 11:35

@eskdale that is shocking and not good enough. Call them again and insist on speaking to someone.

Teaandbiscuits123 · 12/05/2020 11:45

@Eskdale2004 I agree with @pechypetite it really isn't good enough - you should have had your booking in by 10 weeks. I would keep pushing until they get annoyed and just give you an appointment!

My symptoms have also reduced a lot now - it started over a week ago. The nausea reduced and became more intermittent and now I just seem to have dizzy spells rather than full blown nausea. The smell of everything is still horrendous though! I wouldn’t worry I think it’s quite normal about now

Snowwhite2020 · 12/05/2020 13:11

@Eskdale2004 I agree this is not good enough. I would really push to get both the booking in and the scan done. There are certain tests they can do at the scan (if you consent) to check on the baby’s development and things and there is a specific window in time in which some of these can be done. It’s their duty to you to give you the option to receive that information if you want to. I’m thinking specifically of the Nuchal Translucency test. Phone and be assertive!

Eskdale2004 · 12/05/2020 13:17

I know, I’m pretty pissed off really as I’ve a history of loss and had problems during my last pregnancy and was high risk as a result.

I’ve rung again and spoke to a different MW who was very helpful and shocked that I hadn’t even been booked in yet. She got back to me ASAP and I now have an appointment over the phone tomorrow at 2.

What happens with our notes? I was under the impression you needed them to take to the 12 week scan.

Eskdale2004 · 12/05/2020 13:18

@Snowwhite2020 yes, I think the cut off date for the NT test is 14 weeks isn’t it? Hopefully they’ll get me in in time!

RunnerGirl123 · 12/05/2020 13:23

@Eskdale2004 hopefully they'll follow up with your scan soon, especially if you're not 100% on dating the pregnancy.
In regards to notes, I was told I'd pick mine up after my scan when I get my bloods etc done.

Snowwhite2020 · 12/05/2020 13:25

@Eskdale2004 that’s good, I’m pleased you have a booking in for tomorrow over the phone. Mine was over the phone then I was called in to get bloods, weight and height done in person at which point I was given my notes. Ask if they will also have you in like this. Obviously they need to get your scan booked now!!

lionsmum · 12/05/2020 13:25

With regards to buying things it's of course totally personal but I disagree about it being far too early, after the 12 week scan is when will buy a few things for this little one I think. Nothing major, but then again we hardly need to buy anything this time round as we have everything from our DS sitting waiting!

I'm glad to hear you got your phone call sorted @Eskdale2004 at my hospital they already have your notes waiting as that's what happened at my 10 week scan, I wouldn't worry about that side of it as hopefully they will have it covered, although I can understand your experience so far has been far from ideal

Hope everyone else is well, my nausea ect is lessening, but I think it's because the placenta starts to take over about now and your hormones level off a bit so trying not to be too concerned over lessening symptoms

Snowwhite2020 · 12/05/2020 13:37

@lionsmumglsd you’re feeling a bit better ❤️
