Hey all, just got my bfp which puts me on course for a Christmas baby! According to my calendar it will be around 27th Dec but we'll get a better idea once we get the 12 week scan. I've already got a handsome 2 year old boy. ♥️Anyone else due à Christmas baby or fancy some pregnancy chat?

It is such a mixture of emotions. I thought the trying and not knowing whether it could happen was the hard part and just hoped so much every month for a positive so that was my focus and didn't really think about the potential worry it would bring!! I am trying to focus on the fact that the likelihood of everything being OK is higher than it not being but it's hard.

penguin423 · 27/04/2020 14:30

Rnic1x - that wee vest is SO cute!

Rnic1x · 27/04/2020 14:32

@penguin423 aww thank you isn't it adorable. Yes that's the way to think, the chance of anything being wrong is far far far lower most pregnancys are perfectly fine, how far on are you? X

Nic2908 · 27/04/2020 14:34

Hi guys. Sorry been missing last could of days. Back to back long days. I'm pretty much over work right now. Whoever mentioned the hair bobble trick. You are a god. My work pants are so tight I'm that bloated. Really enjoyed catching up with the thread its getting that big it took my whole lunch break!! Will check in later. Send you all postive pregnancy vibes.

Katbaby · 27/04/2020 14:44

@djmbaker thank you my back is a lot better, aw bless you not being able to eat, I'm the opposite I start to feel sickly so will shove anything in my mouth to take away the sickness. Although we just decided to make flapjacks and the smell is knocking me🤢 think ill give them all away hhaa.
How are you feeling other than the nausea? Did you order more tests haha??

Oh my god @Rnic1x that is adorable you are making me want to buy stuff!!

Welcome back @Nic2908! How are you feeling symptom wise other than the bloating?

Keepingcomfy · 27/04/2020 14:49

@soph1985 I will be 7 weeks tomorrow, and like you apart from sore boobs and a bit tired I don't really feel any other symptoms. I felt rotten last Thursday but it didn't last. I don't want to feel ill, but if I did it might make me feel pregnant.

It's really on my mind!! I would just like a wee bit reassurance

djmbaker · 27/04/2020 14:52

@Rnic1x oh my goodness those little booties are adorable!!! 😍😍😍😍
No I can't yet, I've got a few things saved on Instagram and I've got a Pinterest board going but I just can't yet. I've bought some new smart joggers that are comfortable around my bloat but also look nice if I have to go anywhere 😂 that's about it.

@Katbaby yep, amazon are delivering another two tests today plus I've got the digital test left over which I want for the 3+ weeks but I'll do that end of this week i think. I blame you 😂
I didn't think i felt particularly sick this morning, so I started doing house jobs now I'm in bed feeling rubbish!! I'm trying so hard to eat healthy but all I want is ready salted crisps and a chip butty 🙈🙈

@penguin423 I totally understand there, i know about 8/10 girls who have told me their pregnant in the last 4 months and every month I kept getting upset and thinking why am i not etc etc what's wrong with me.. and now, here I am, worrying about everything whilst I am pregnant. It's just a never ending rollercoaster of worry isn't it (sorry that sounds so cheesy but I can't think of any other way)

notalwaysalondoner · 27/04/2020 15:05

I am trying to keep a healthy balance of excitement and realism - we were TTC for 7 months and I was starting to get a bit worried so definitely want to let myself feel excited, but also realistic that a lot of pregnancies end in early loss so shouldn’t just assume it will all be fine. I think it will make it easier to handle if something does go wrong if you at least partly expect it to. Right now that’s working but it’s easy to worry, especially as I’d have to tell my family sooner than I’d like due to living with them during lockdown, and I’m quite a private person so would probably have rather waited until 12 weeks.

I was so sneaky with the wine yesterday though to allay my mum’s suspicions- I kept pouring it into my sister’s glass when she was out of the room then poured a load back into the bottle at the end of our film Grin

I haven’t bought anything yet except a pregnancy journal which will arrive tomorrow. Think I’ll wait a while, but have started Pinterest board for maternity clothes and nursery decoration (although need to decide if we’re moving house first)!

I’ve only taken one pregnancy test - a FRER. Digital clearblue ones are arriving tomorrow - expect they’ll say 2-3 weeks as I’m 4+5 today.

Katbaby · 27/04/2020 15:08

@djmbaker hahaa I'd say Im sorry but I'm not 🤣 I don't want to be the only serial tester on this thread.

I feel the same @keepingcomfy I feel kind of OK in my self bar a little sickly and tired I still keep grabbing my boobs to see if they are sore yet.

Keepingcomfy · 27/04/2020 15:13

@katbaby hahaha I done that about half an hour ago! 🤣 I know that I am pregnant, but I can't stop doubting myself. It's really annoying!!

I've been going on big walks with my partner every day but I feel so tired today I decided to give it a miss. I considered sneaking down to Bootz when he was out to get another pregnancy test ... just to make sure! But I talked myself out it! I AM having a baby 🤣

Smiling89 · 27/04/2020 15:22

So my midwife called Saturday for my booking appointment and got my 12 week scan date in the post....seems much more real all of a sudden. Luckily my OH is allowed at the scan and everything is being done then.

I was told I'd have to be checked for gestational diabetes later on due to family history, but they're only doing blood tests atm instead of the orange drink - yuck! Kind of glad I get to avoid that one! Interesting to see all the differences in care depending on location.

PocoyoandEllie · 27/04/2020 15:23

@djmbaker can’t stop thinking about a chip butty now 😅

Katbaby · 27/04/2020 15:27

@keepingcomfy honestly I think I've done 8 or 9 tests.. Been keeping a photo diary of them all like some weird little keepsake. Except the weeks one, cos the display only stayed on 24 hours.

@Smiling89 oh my how exciting what date is your scan?? OH is allowed to go?? Is that your hospitals policy or are they saying that might be a national thing 🤞🤞

emma911030 · 27/04/2020 15:29

I got my BFP yesterday and going by the due date calculator for last period my due date is 20/12 ... my first will only be 22 months.. glad he still won't really understand Christmas so he doesn't feel his little brother/sister arriving is likely to take up the most of it! Shock nervous doesn't come close .. maybe it's cause I know what's to come lol x

Smiling89 · 27/04/2020 15:34

@Katbaby my scan is June 11th! I'm not sure if partners attending is a local thing or not, but I've read in other threads that partners weren't allowed in? My closest maternity is in a small hospital with a walk-in centre so they might have more flexibility. The main general hospital 30 minutes away might be a bit stricter.

Katbaby · 27/04/2020 15:43

So exciting @Smiling89 I'm hoping I get sent for an early one as I don't think I can be dated so fingers crossed. If not I will book one after Ive been to my booking in appointment, probably for around mid May when I think I'll be roughly 8 weeks.

I imagine my 12 weeks will be around the mid June mark too

Welcome @emma911030 and congrats on your bfp! Haha I don't know what's worse, all the not knowing or you knowing exactly what's to come haha

Keepingcomfy · 27/04/2020 15:49

@smiling89 and @katbaby My scan is on 3rd June and unfortunately my partner isn't allowed to come in. I completely understand why and don't have any issues under the circumstances, but I will admit to having a good cry when the letter came

Smiling89 · 27/04/2020 15:56

@Keepingcomfy that's such a shame. I was glad more for my OH's sake - I know he would have been really disappointed not to be there. A friend who is due June, has had to have her later appointments in the main general and her partner wasn't able to attend the last.

Keepingcomfy · 27/04/2020 16:00

@smiling89 I know, we are both really sad about it. Especially as it's our first baby. It's out of our control though I suppose. We have our first midwife appointment next Tuesday but I'm not sure if he'll be allowed, or if I'll even be allowed? I know that some are having appointments over the phone...not sure what happens at the first appointment actually

McClue · 27/04/2020 16:02

Hi there, I’m a bit of an introvert so don’t normally take part in conversations too much but have been following along with you ladies and loving it. I’m currently 5 weeks +3 and been having various on and off symptoms, some days I’ve been totally knocked for six and others like today I feel absolutely fine!

First time mum here, and was wondering what people’s experience is of arranging the booking in appointment? I completed a self referral over a week ago and they said to allow 5-10 business days or a response. Granted we’re only on day 6 but I haven’t heard anything. I left a voice message and sent an email today too but I’m a bit worried that no one is coming back to me. A midwife I got through to swiftly moved me to a different number which was voicemail only so just feeling a bit unimportant - which I appreciate I probably am in the great scheme of things. 😂

Was just interested to hear other people thoughts - I always have to worry about something so this is the latest worry for me. I was thinking I’ll wait until end of the week (I’ll be 6 weeks by then) and then call again and if no luck see if my gp can push them.

Smiling89 · 27/04/2020 16:08

@Keepingcomfy I self referred to the midwife last week and got a text saying could she arrange a time to call for my booking appointment - ended up being 2pm that afternoon.

She was lovely and went through things like weight, height, living situation/partner, all the general questions to ensure no domestic abuse was happening, family history like diabetes, thyroid etc, allergies to medications, medications, general health...

She told me all the blood tests would be at the scan and a run down of what to expect ie. need an extra thyroid check at 12 weeks (family history) and diabetic check later. Had an email come through as well that lists all the health checks you can consent to at 12 weeks - none of them harmful to you or the baby so I'll have them all. Don't mind being stabbed with a needle.

Smiling89 · 27/04/2020 16:17

@McClue I received a reply within 2 days but it's my first so not sure what the norm is?

I would wait till 10 days is up and ring again - ask if they've assigned you a midwife, who it is and their contact number - then use that number.

Also check your junk mail in your emails! Their email to me got sent to Junk mail - had to search for it when on the phone to the midwife Smile

McClue · 27/04/2020 16:34

@Smiling89 yeah I’ll give that a try and have my fingers crossed. Hopefully I’ll at least get through to someone willing to talk to me by that point!

I’ve been checking my junk mail like a mad woman haha, I know I just need to listen to the fact that they have set my expectations it could take this long. Just so impatient!
