Lovely to see and hear all the wonderful scan news. Keep seeing lots of posts about twins - so so lovely!!
My scan is at 13 weeks, on the 7th May. Time has slowed down in anticipation of this. I'm 10+4 today and my boobs have started hurting again, I have very little nausea and feel absolutely exhausted. Woke at 2 and 5 last night then stayed awake till my alarm at half 6. I really am totally losing it and want to try and move my scan a week forward. Is that even possible without good reason? I obviously don't want to ring & pester the receptionist as know they are busy, but I'm going crazy at home not knowing.

FilthyforFirth · 20/04/2020 12:14

Oh I didn't realise I had a fellow Nov 26ther! Have you got a date for your 12 weeks scan yet @Hancock2020. I had my booking appt over the phone last week but going in today for bloods etc.

Feeling pretty miserable with how awful I feel and how early I am Sad

TangBloodyFastic · 20/04/2020 12:18

Congratulations @FlashesOfRage my DH is hoping we are having twins! Not likely as they don't run in my family but do run in his

@seventhrow not sure what your original post said but looking at the responses you have received I would have been agreeing with you. I think it's the fear of the unknown along with being very un-maternal as far as I am concerned. I'm a little bit worried about telling my friends as I'm sure they're going to be "what???? you?? Really???" And all I'll do is Blush

@jeleigh my symptoms have stopped too, got to wait until next week for my scan. Going to be a long week Confused

@parisinthespringtime - how long did it take for your results to come back for the harmony test? The place I'm going says 7-10 days but was unsure if this will be longer given the current circumstances?

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/04/2020 12:23

@TangBloodyFastic mine came back in less than a week - I had the test last Tuesday and got the call this morning. I wonder if they are a bit quieter at the moment as lots of clinics are closed.

jeleigh · 20/04/2020 12:27

@TangBloodyFastic it’s reassuring to know that we’re not the only ones. I mean, I’m so thankful that I feel relatively normal but I at least want to feel like I have something is going on. How far along are you?

seventhrow · 20/04/2020 12:30

ahhh thank you for the kind words @TangBloodyFastic! Yes... I'm really not looking forward to telling people at all. I find the whole subject so embarrassing. I don't think it helps that my friends are all London types and don't have babies yet - I'll be the first. I have one friend with 2 small children but she's 35 and I'm only just 32. I think it would be easier if there were others starting families but I'm rather the avant garde of our social circle...

TangBloodyFastic · 20/04/2020 12:33

@jeleigh 9wks. Yesterday I felt completely not pregnant. Was full of beans and took full advantage. Today I'm tired but that's normal for a Monday morning but still don't feel like shit like I have done the past few weeks. So hard when you want to feel happy about feeling normal and then doubt yourself and feel worried as you convince yourself there could be something wrong!
I've never been so up and down 😂

@ParisInTheSpringtime I hope mine come back that quick but I think my results are sent abroad. Are you telling people now or are you still waiting for your NHS scan at 12 wks?

TangBloodyFastic · 20/04/2020 12:34

@seventhrow seriously you sound just like me! I find it so embarrassing telling people! I didn't know what to say when the in-laws were crying and celebrating when we told them. I could have just said "ok then thanks bye" 😂😂

burntpinky · 20/04/2020 12:36

@FlashesOfRage great news!!!

@ParisInTheSpringtime great news also!!!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/04/2020 12:48

We are still waiting for the scan. Part of me thinks what if the dna was left over etc... so will want to confirmation of the picture! Will also be nice to be able to show something.

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/04/2020 12:52

Good luck @ParisInTheSpringtime

AnxiousLady1 · 20/04/2020 13:03

@FlashesOfRage Congratulations!!! Do you know you were having twins?! 😂

AnxiousLady1 · 20/04/2020 13:04

I mean *did you. Not 'do you'. As you obviously know now!! 😂

Hancock2020 · 20/04/2020 13:05

@FilthyforFirth no date for my scan yet so just waiting to hear about that and when I'll be hearing from the doctors/consultant as I may end up being led by them because of my first birth issues

HarrietM87 · 20/04/2020 13:06

It’s funny how people have kids at dramatically different ages depending where they live. Of my school friends, the ones who stayed at home in Ireland had their kid’s early twenties, whereas the ones who moved away (mostly to London) waited a lot longer. I’m a lawyer in the city and had my first at 31, which was on the early side of my friends/work colleagues. Now I’m 33 and loads of friends are pregnant and due this year which will be lovely. I think we’re doing this at the right time for us. Have been with DH since we were 22 so had almost a decade of parties and holidays etc. Then got married, bought a family home, did it up and had our son within 1.5yrs.

burntpinky · 20/04/2020 13:17

@HarrietM87 - another lawyer here for my sins!

Yes, it is funny how people tend to have at different ages. My very close friends (all ranging from 40-46 - I'm 41) are not having kids. Another close friend (42) has a 3 and 6 year old plus an almost 1 year old so we have naturally tended to gravitate closer now.

But my other friends (not close but probs meet up once a month are so) are all quite a bit younger than me (ranging from 32-38) and all had kids before me so theirs are that bit older. So I don't really have any friends with kids same age as ours!

We've only had ours so late as only met DH at 36 then it obvs takes a few years to work out if you're compatible!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/04/2020 13:19

I’m a lawyer too Smile

SqidgeBum · 20/04/2020 13:25

I have noticed this too. Mh friends who emigrated from Ireland and moved to london or the US or Australia and ate quite career focused havent had kids yet, whereas my husbands friends have mostly had kids as they stayed around family in smaller english towns and seemed less focused on their careers. I was an odd one where I emigrated, i have a masters and a career, but purposely got pregnant on my first at 26. I am now 28 and pregnant on my second. I know for these times I am pretty young. All my NCT friends from my first baby are around 36ish

@FlashesOfRage congratulations!

@seventhrow (and others) I am also terrified of losing my life - I'll be the second in my group of friends to have a baby and desperately want to still be able to go out for dinner, drinks and go on holidays... and am petrified about my job as I'll be the first woman in a long time to take mat leave (others have just never returned after...)

MoreGinPlease2020 · 20/04/2020 13:29

Another lawyer here too. Although I escaped the city nearly 2 years ago. Smile

mrsAndeke · 20/04/2020 13:30

So random post but today I felt energetic so after weeding at the allotment, I decided whilst I was in the shower I might as well shave my legs, and I noticed that my leg hair had grown back thicker?? I'm dark haired so was probably more noticeable but I was just thinking how bloody random.

As we are saying what we do for a living - I am a professional nanny so I have worked with kids for nearly 10 years but I do think all the teaching I've put into children may fly out of the window once I have my own (hopefully not) but I am so glad I'm a sleep trainer and hope my training comes in handy once bubba is here!!!

Rara88Cas · 20/04/2020 13:32

Hiya Guys!
Just wanted to check in - finally saw baby and heart beat today during private scan.

Found out I'm actually 8 weeks not 9+2 as I'd originally calculated, but apparently this is common for PCOS mums as it's not always standard timing for ovulation! Explains why it's taken a while!

Hope everyone is feeling ok!

seventhrow · 20/04/2020 13:57

Really interesting to hear everyone's experiences of where their friends are at with the whole family planning thing! I always thought I would want to be one who pushed it until the last minute, but DH really didn't want to be an old dad and I began to start thinking about how old my parents are and realise I wouldn't want to be much older than they were when they had my sister and me....

I think I was influenced quite a lot in agreeing to give it a go by DH's colleagues. Many are 5-8 years older and have had a lot of fertility issues (close office). All thankfully came ok in the end with the individual couples but only after a few painful false starts.

@Wise0wl I am with you on the work thing!! I work for a small quite new company and will be the first woman to ever get pregnant. I'm also senior so will have the awesome responsibility of writing the company handbook for this sort of situation. I.e., informing the shareholders of 1) my rights, and 2) their obligations. They will genuinely be pretty p*ssed off at the news. I am dreading, absolutely dreading, the conversation.

seventhrow · 20/04/2020 13:58

sorry I should have said older rather than old dad!
