@AnxiousLady1 everyone’s good news and scan pictures are definitely helping to get through. Even after the scan I’m sure i’ll find something else to worry about 😂 x

@FlashesOfRage hope everything goes okay at your scan x

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/04/2020 11:03

@seventhrow I am with you. I am not at all maternal, and to be brutally honest, would have been very happy to bumble along just me and hubby. He was very keen to try, so here we are. I work long hours in the city, and love it. I don’t want to give that life off. Part of the deal with hubby is that he will take the majority of time off at the start, as I’m not willing to impact my career.

If I could skip the first few years I definitely would! I only like children once I can have a conversation with them. I’m sure we will all be fine though!

@FlashesOfRage good luck!

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/04/2020 11:06

Goodluck @FlashesOfRage!

@seventhrow I don’t think it’s selfish at all, and I think lots of people probably feel the same but don’t admit it. I actually really like babies and small children and can’t wait for that loud busy house (we’re hoping to have at least 3 fairly close together) but I think I’m probably in the minority there! And I’d say in life I’m generally quite selfish 😂 you may well find it’s different with your own children, as many people say

Wise0wl · 20/04/2020 11:12

Lovely scan @Pippop21 and great news on the Harmony results @ParisInTheSpringtime

Huge luck to those with scans today, keep us posted! Smile

seventhrow · 20/04/2020 11:15

Thanks @buffalocauliflower, @ParisInTheSpringtime and @SqidgeBum

I retracted the post... there are so many women on MN who have been trying so hard for a baby for years and I was worried it wouldn't go down well. I really wish I had met my husband earlier so that we could enjoy our time together more. Go on nice holidays... enjoy adult dinner parties... I also am aware that the last few years have been completely upside down for me. My dad died last year and my mum was left disabled after a coach crash the year before. It's been hard. Part of me was really wanting a nice normal year of doing nice things. But I turned 32 and I didn't want to have trouble by waiting to have a baby too long... thought we'd give it a go and fell pregnant within 6 weeks of coming off the pill. My nice normal year has so far involved feeling nauseous and exhausted 24/7 and a pandemic. And I could really do with a nice cold beer when the weather gets nice in the afternoons!!

Good luck @FlashesOfRage !!!

seventhrow · 20/04/2020 11:17

@ParisInTheSpringtime Great news on your results!! Nice to have got them so early in the week as well!

Anon87 · 20/04/2020 11:19

@Charlottethevet Helloooo 11 weeks today too 😃 I've not noticed the line but pretty sure I've got the mask. My chin and upper lip so it seems like a 5 o clock shadow. Great! Can't wait to see what it throws at me for a "glow" 😆

MillieY · 20/04/2020 11:22

Hello, is everyone planning on wearing a mask into hospital for their 12 week scans?

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/04/2020 11:25

I know what you mean @seventhrow. I left it as long as I thought I could with all conscience (I will be 38 when the blob arrives). A few months ago I was still trying to persuade hubby that adoption was the way to go.

You’ve had a hard couple of years, please don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s a huge change.

Hubby and I have agreed that we will stay the same as much as possible - we will still go to the gym, go on adventurous holidays, and there is no way I am going to suddenly change how I am. I suppose I’ve seen so many family and friends change completely when they have kids - and I am just not willing to do that. I’ll still be myself first, and a mother second.

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/04/2020 11:26

@MillieY no, unless you have the virus and don’t want to give it to others (in which case you probably shouldn’t be going to the appointment) it won’t do anything. They have little to no effect in stopping YOU getting it. Maternity areas are being kept quiet separate from Covid patients as well

Charlottethevet · 20/04/2020 11:32

@Anon87 Happy 11 weeks due date chum :D xx

Hancock2020 · 20/04/2020 11:34

Why, why would my husband keep telling me we are basically about to have world war 3 with China, I'm already worrying enough!

MillieY · 20/04/2020 11:36

Thank you @BuffaloCauliflower

BuffaloCauliflower · 20/04/2020 11:39

Suddenly feeling a lot more nauseas today, after saying I haven’t had many symptoms. Perhaps a resurgence in hormones! It’s rather inconvenient when I have an essay to write

FirstBaby2020 · 20/04/2020 11:41

I'm new to this so hi everyone 😁 My edd is November 18th same as BuffaloCauliflower I see and since I found out my only pregnancy symptoms have been sore breasts and a stronger sense of smell which I already had before 😂 My breasts aren't as sore as they used to be so I started to freak out but reading that other people are in the same boat coming up to 10 weeks symptom wise I feel a lot better now thanks everyone 😊 I had an early scan when I was 6 weeks to make sure everything was okay but now I wish I could get a scan whenever I wanted 😂 my first booking visit and hospital scan isnt until the 14th of May unfortunately but good luck to everyone with scans soon 😁

Hancock2020 · 20/04/2020 11:42

Anybody good with the money side of everything? If I'm to believe the news restaurants wont be opening until xmas, so I literally wont be going back to work. But will my maternity pay be 90% of my government 80%pay or will it be 90% of my usual pay??

jeleigh · 20/04/2020 11:52

@Hancock2020 this is something I’ve been wondering too. I work for a wedding venue so it will probably be one of the last places to open as well. I can’t get my head round what i’ll be entitled to maternity wise either, plus they’ve said we’re probably going to get made redundant in a couple of weeks which complicates it even more.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/04/2020 11:59

This seems to be a good site @Hancock2020 @jeleigh

maternityaction.org.uk/covidmaternityfaqs/furlough/

You will still be technically employed, so you should get 90%, but the 90% is calculated on your earnings (which will be 80%).

I think restaurants will be open way before Xmas, by the way.

SqidgeBum · 20/04/2020 11:59

Haha @Hancock2020 your DH sounds like he needs to step away from the Daily Mail website lol. Nobody is going to war. Just focus on your bubble

FlashesOfRage · 20/04/2020 11:59

Thanks everyone!! 😍

Two perfect bouncing babies in there! YAYYY

I’m 12+0 today and both measured 12+1 👏
NT measurements were 1.23 and 1.53 wooo

Hancock2020 · 20/04/2020 12:01

@jeleigh if you get made redundant then I dont think you'll be entitled to any mat pay.
I would probably get in touch with universal credits or someone maybe just so you know you've got some money coming in x

FilthyforFirth · 20/04/2020 12:01

Hi all, checking in after a few days absence. I have been feeling really, really dreadful. The HG has firmly set in now and I am feeling quite miserable. I had a rare 'good' day yesterday so of course overdid it and am paying for it today. Sick as soon as I woke up and havent left bed since.

Glad to see some due dates towards the end of the month with me, hate feeling at the bottom of the list!

Pleased for those who have had positive scans and tests. Hoping you are all suffering less than I am. 8+5 and wishing I was much further along.

Got to go to the surgery today for bloods and urine. Havent left the house in ages and not driven in weeks. Slightly worried about being sick whilst driving...

Hancock2020 · 20/04/2020 12:03

@FlashesOfRage yey! 🥳
There seems to be quite a few twins on here.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 20/04/2020 12:03

@FlashesOfRage congratulations!

Hancock2020 · 20/04/2020 12:08

@FilthyforFirth wishing I was further along too. I'm the same date as you and wish I could just get to the nicer 2nd trimester, nicely bumped, not feel like crap, and just more comfortable.
