Another new thread for the Nov mums to continue our discussion. It’s nearly time for our dating scans!

@Fouryearslater if I don't want to smack myself in the face, yes. Also they are so sore they need support.

Pcosandpregnant · 17/04/2020 15:49

@eleanorsos when I phoned last week they just said a midwife would get back to me so I phoned again on Monday and they said they would chase it up. I hadn’t heard anything so I phoned today and the receptionist said the reason why I hadn’t heard from one was because they don’t contact you until 10 weeks. But on the nhs website it says you have to have certain blood tests before 10 weeks. So I’m just going to phone again next week, maybe ask to speak to a doctor rather than a receptionist.

Hancock2020 · 17/04/2020 15:56

@Fouryearslater I have to they are so heavy right now it hurts too much not to wear one, even if they are spilling out 🤣🤣🙊

eleanorsos · 17/04/2020 16:05

@Pcosandpregnant Yeah that doesn't sound right, definitely worth chasing! Hope it gets sorted for you soon, it's a worrying enough time as it is xx

Pcosandpregnant · 17/04/2020 16:11

@eleanorsos thank you so much I really appreciate that xx

seventhrow · 17/04/2020 16:36

@Pcosandpregnant - On the blood tests pre-10 weeks thing. I raised this at my booking appointment (8 weeks on the dot) because they couldn't get any blood out of me and said they'd have to do all the bloods at 12 weeks with my scan. I was worried and said that I'd read that some tests (sickle cell and thalassaemia) were supposed to be by 10 weeks but they said that I have no one in the family with those diseases so it's very low risk. I looked them up and they're definitely both genetic - the NHS info on both diseases says first and foremost that "these are caused by inheriting the sickle cell/ Thalassaemia gene".

Pcosandpregnant · 17/04/2020 16:54

@seventhrow thank you so much that’s made me feel so much better as I also have no one in my family that with those diseases. Thank you so much xx

Pink15 · 17/04/2020 17:16

My boobs were sore for about 3 weeks then stopped hurting around week 6 🤷‍♀️ they grew about a cup though and now feel a lot firmer than before. Hope it's normal for them to stop being sore.

SqidgeBum · 17/04/2020 17:19

@Pink15 mine stopped being sore at week 7. It was the same with my last pregnancy. Its perfectly fine.

Sakura54 · 17/04/2020 17:20

@Pink15 they didn’t say anything about giving me telephone appointments for my next ones, so they better not be calling me last minute again. Tbh I’d rather not keep having to go to hospital (I have weekly appointments in May), but then again the health checks are very important and outweigh the risk of catching CV IMO.

Anyone not anxious about something going wrong? I seem to be on a real up and down cycle of positivity then panic. I know pregnancy must go well at least some of the time as we are all here, but I’m so worried about something going wrong. I know it can happen any time for no reason and I don’t want to be so positive that I’m not prepared for the worse, if that makes sense, but also there’s a higher likelihood of it going well at this stage... argh I’m just driving myself a bit mad!

katsnmouse · 17/04/2020 17:55

Wow this thread moves fast!!! Is anyone still working at the moment? I’m working (not as much as pre coronavirus) and today is the first day I’m absolutely shattered. It hasn’t been particularly taxing day but i’m done. Along with the background nausea 🤢

Hancock2020 · 17/04/2020 18:06

Well I was considering having 2 more kids (inc this one) but with how much this pregnancy is kicking my ass I dont think there will be another. I'm so praying for a little girl 😔

seventhrow · 17/04/2020 18:12

@katsnmouse have been working every day. in some ways I'm glad it's all from home because the mornings are brutal and I don't know how I could get in to the office for 9am every morning. It comes in waves. I am still productive but need breaks more frequently and am glad of being able to lie down for 10mins mid-afternoon. Making a baby is exhausting. I had prepared for nausea, but the fatigue completely blind-sided me.

Pink15 · 17/04/2020 18:19

@katsnmouse @seventhrow I'm working from home and I'm glad I am as like you say the exhaustion I was not expecting at all! Had a nap in my lunch break today and I've never been able to nap in my life! Everyone talks about nausea but not heard about the exhaustion!

WildflowerPetals · 17/04/2020 18:23

@wannabebump That’s what I’m most upset about, that DH won’t be there to hear the heartbeat and see the baby for the first time - I always hoped that would be something we’d experience together.

I’m going to phone the day before to see if he definitely can’t come and check whether I can FaceTime/video the scan.

If I’m not able to FaceTime/video the scan then I’ll probably see if I can get a private scan near me that we can both attend.

Thanks - hope you are too x

seventhrow · 17/04/2020 18:25

@pink15 yes it’s strange isn’t it? I honestly don’t know how I would have managed rush hour on the tube. I’d probably end up getting a Baby on Board badge, stuffing a jumper up my top and hoping I don’t see anyone I know.

LouLouP7 · 17/04/2020 18:34

Hi ladies,

Hope it's ok if I join this thread. I've only posted once or twice before on one of the older threads but have been reading all your comments and following your journey's in the background Smile

I'm 10+3 and today I ended up booking a last minute private scan as I was getting a bit panicked about my symptoms disappearing (previous miscarriage in Feb). I was hoping my husband could come with me but unfortunately not. All was good though, baby was measuring exactly to dates and was jumping around all over the place, it was amazing! They also emailed me a 1 minute video so my husband still got to see - which was totally unexpected.

Feel like I can finally get excited now so have braved posting again and will hopefully be a little more active on the thread. I would love to join the Facebook page too if someone could let me know how?

Congratulations on all of your little beans and so sorry to all of those who've had sad news. I've been there and it sucks but it will happen for you in the end ❤️ xxx

LozEliza · 17/04/2020 18:40

Received my scan letter today which is bang on 12 weeks so I'm super happy about that. I checked with the hospital and definitely no partners allowed. They must still be sending standard letters as it says 2 people can come with - which I imagine with confuse a lot of people. The thing is - with my early scan they said no partners but when I got there it was just 'no partners in the waiting room' but they were allowed to be called in for the actual scan. I'll be really annoyed if that happens again as DH said he isn't leaving the car again this time as it's a different hospital that we aren't familiar with. The letter also says it's £5 for a picture but their Facebook page makes it sound as though they're complimentary due to the no partner situation. We're going to book a private gender scans. Our place locally is still allowing a +1.

LozEliza · 17/04/2020 18:47

@MillieY I just received my scan letter today at 10+3 the post is super slow at the moment. Maybe give it a few more days.

excitednerves · 17/04/2020 19:25

@FilthyforFirth I’m due 25th Nov so you’re definitely not alone at the end of the month. I’m quite envious of those getting booked in and going for scans. Still two weeks to my booking and 1 month exactly to the 12 week scan. Feels like forever!

Hancock2020 · 17/04/2020 19:32

@excitednerves @FilthyforFirth in due 25th as well so no 12 week scan for me yet either. I did a private one on monday but it wasnt much more than a fuzzy blob

bluebell94 · 17/04/2020 20:36

I'm 21st November so another end of month Smile

Pippop21 · 17/04/2020 22:04

@Hancock2020 hows your symptoms? X

Swale · 17/04/2020 23:02

For anyone who has found out that they can/cannot take a video of their scan, how did you find that out? I have checked my hospitals website but cant see anything about videos of scans

Mine says so on my letter. Sad
