Get off the thread for half a day and I lose track again!

Glad to hear about scans going well today. I’m trying to have a more positive approach today - I’ve no reason to think anything’s wrong so why should it be! Statistics are on my side. Hearing about others scans going well reminds me that you can actually get a baby from being pregnant, it’s not all just a cunning rouse

Pink15 · 16/04/2020 17:36

Thanks for the good luck wishes! Scan went well!! One little baby with a heart beat and measuring a few days ahead so 9 weeks! It's our first baby and honestly was so magical. It was wiggling around all over the place!

canueve · 16/04/2020 17:42

@SqidgeBum I did read the second one always shows sooner.

@jeleigh I'm average, I was already 12kg overweight, managed to lose 6kg and put on 4kg over the holidays so I know I have some fat here, but this bum showing is just weeeird.

@ParisInTheSpringtime you seem to be quite fit, I saw a video of this girl she did not show at all until like 24 weeks. It was crazy.

canueve · 16/04/2020 17:44

@Clove20 @Pink15 so happy for you both xx

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/04/2020 17:46

Great news @Pink15!

GalaxyEggs · 16/04/2020 17:47

I'm so pleased to hear about these positive scans

Does anyone have any lovely stories of having first scan at 12 weeks and there being a wonderful healthy baby there? After a miscarriage and then bleeding in second pregnancy I had several early scans last time and holding my nerve this time but doesn't feel real... like I'll make it to 12/13 weeks or whenever it will be and there will be nothing there! Or that there's something wrong because I caught coronavirus and didn't know it, or something

ParisInTheSpringtime · 16/04/2020 18:08

@GalaxyEggs I have my 12 week scan next Thursday - am hoping to be able to report back positively. Should also get my harmony results back next week. So it could be a very good or very bad week!

Pulpfiction1 · 16/04/2020 18:13

I had a scan yesterday and turns out my October baby is a November baby so I have another scan next week..

Sakura54 · 16/04/2020 18:27

@GalaxyEggs a bunch of us have our dating scans next week, so we will give an update. Wish us luck lol.

@ParisInTheSpringtime me too! Mine is at 2.30pm, so I have to wait all morning, yours?

excitednerves · 16/04/2020 18:29

Ah @calimommy we get everywhere don’t we?

@GalaxyEggs I’d also love to hear some positive 12 week scan stories to reassure me. Just over 4 weeks until mine and I am so anxious. No reason to think anything is wrong but I just can’t help worrying.

Hancock2020 · 16/04/2020 18:33

Had my full booking call, I may need to be doctor led because of my massive haemorrhage with my first and will most certainly have to have an elective c section (which is fine by me, not so much for DH but it's my body)
Just got to wait for letters about scans etc now

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/04/2020 18:40

@GalaxyEggs I’ve had a previous miscarriage too, does make it hard to relax when you know what can go wrong. This pregnancy seem to be going fine but then I worry somethings wrong that I don’t know about

Welcome @Pulpfiction1 Smile

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/04/2020 18:43

@Hancock2020 why wouldn’t it be ok with your DH if that’s the best medical option?

excitednerves · 16/04/2020 18:49

Welcome @Pulpfiction1 that happened with my first. LMP gave an August date, scan put me as September. Baby arrives whenever they want regardless of the due date! Ha!

eleanorsos · 16/04/2020 18:56

Just catching up with the new thread, I think I missed almost all of thread 3! 😂 Amazing how many of us there are though. I've got my booking appt over the phone tomorrow and thanks to this thread I feel like I kind of know what to expect! 10 weeks tomorrow and just counting down days to the scan!

Was planning to start telling people after the scan but wonder if anyone is planning to hold off until they can see people in person? Seems weird to do remotely... 🤔

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/04/2020 19:02

@excitednerves when did baby arrive after all that?

Hancock2020 · 16/04/2020 19:10

@BuffaloCauliflower he wanted me to try natural birth. Although he has kind of come round to the idea of it's just not safe for me.
My mother on the other hand is so disappointed, like me not dying is so insignificant. But she thinks of my children as they are her children anyway 🙄

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/04/2020 19:14

@Hancock2020 I’m kind of intrigued he would think he has any say over what kind of birth you have? It’s not his body? My DH is very interested and supportive, and he listens to all my thoughts on things, but I can’t imagine him ever feeling like
he would have a say for something like this that doesn’t really affect him?

Hancock2020 · 16/04/2020 19:23

@BuffaloCauliflower he just feels it's more natural, and gives a closer to bond to baby. But like I say hes come round to it anyway. Just my mum now.

SqidgeBum · 16/04/2020 19:25

About 27% of births result in c section. About 12% of births require assistance. Before medical assistance became the norm, 25 women in 1000 died in childbirth. 'Natural' birth isnt all its cracked up to be. Trust me, I did 52 hours on my last labour with no pain killers because I wanted a 'natural' birth. It ended with 10 stitches, ventouse and a complete panic because her heart rate disappeared.

If a man had to push a coconut out of his penis he wouldn't advocate for a 'natural birth'.

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/04/2020 19:27

@Hancock2020 there are good arguments for vaginal birth wherever possible, c-sections should be for need reasons, but your health and well-being should of course come first. Fingers crossed for your mum.

BuffaloCauliflower · 16/04/2020 19:28
  • I should add emotional well-being of mother is as much a need as physical reasons for having a section. Didn’t want that to be misconstrued
excitednerves · 16/04/2020 19:42

@buffaloCauliflower - July! Confused 7 weeks early. I’m a special case and I’m high risk for premature birth so didn’t want to scare anyone.

jeleigh · 16/04/2020 19:42

@eleanorsos I’ve been trying to think of ways to make it more exciting by having to do it over FaceTime. All my family live close to me but DH’s live down the country, and he’s very close to them so I’m gutted he won’t be able to make a big thing out of it. It just won’t feel the same but Im desperate to tell people (all being okay).
I’m not sure I would be able to hold out until whenever lockdown finishes, I’ve been impatient since the day I found out I was pregnant 😂

Wise0wl · 16/04/2020 19:43

Hello all, placemarking! Congrats to those with scans.

@SqidgeBum your coconut reference made me laugh, thanks for brightening my day!
