@Natopp definitely go for the spatone sachets - much nicer than the tablets! I took them in my last pregnancy and they were great.

ACatCalledLola · 16/04/2020 14:12

@Natopp I filled in a form for my dr to sign and got a maternity exemption certificate through the post. Your midwife can do it too. I did pick up prescription before it had come through and just ticked the box for free prescriptions and it was fine.

KatieGlo · 16/04/2020 14:23

Spatone gave me the sh*ts, but it's supposed to be really good for most people, just maybe only buy one box to start with.
I'm going to have an iron infusion as soon as I reach the 2nd trimester and it's safe to do so

Pink15 · 16/04/2020 14:38

I have my first early scan this afternoon and feeling so nervous 😬😬 not really any reason to but stupidly I've read up on mmc!

AnxiousLady1 · 16/04/2020 14:57

Best of luck @Pink15. I think we all hold our breath a little during those scans. I have my 12 week one next Friday and I am already sh**ing myself. Let us know how you get on. x

excitednerves · 16/04/2020 14:59

@SqidgeBum @canueve @HarrietM87 @AnxiousLady1 I’m another one living in London with family in Ireland. No idea when I’ll get home again but will likely be breaking the news by FaceTime, and who knows what it’ll be like when we’re due

canueve · 16/04/2020 15:24

@Natopp not sure if you are a fan, but beans are a great source of iron.
Oats, quinoa, chickpeas, and lentils too.

You could try and eat one or the other every other day to help. Or if you like porridge, easy enough with the oats.

katsnmouse · 16/04/2020 15:27

@Pink15 hope all goes well with your scan - i agree with @AnxiousLady1, i’ll be holding my breath during scans too. I think i looked at the ceiling for the first scan until they said ‘and theirs baby’s heartbeat’.

HarrietM87 · 16/04/2020 15:34

Oh @Natopp @canueve has reminded me - I also ate Cheerios as they’re fortified with iron (not as healthy as some other options but I had a really sweet tooth last time!)

calimommy · 16/04/2020 15:39

Oh @excitednerves and all the others you tagged 😂 I'm also from Ireland but living in California. I was half thinking I'd head back for a visit when the lock down lifts but I've just had a row with my brother over WhatsApp and I'm thinking why fucking bother I'd rather go to Hawaii haha

MissingMo · 16/04/2020 15:46

Hi all, jumping in if you dont mind. Had my booking appointment today, was quite lucky it seems that it was in person, at least part of it. The midwife called back later to ask all the questions and just did the blood, samples and booking future appointments in person. Was quite nice getting out the house. Will be second child for me. First pregnancy was consultant led but this one isn't so a bit more anxious as I had all the extra appointments and scans last time but this time I wont. Oh well. 9+3 today so edd of 16th November. Has anyone only really suffered morning sickness in the evenings? I had it evening time quite badly from week 6 to 7ish which disappeared until 2 days ago. Hoping it reduces again soon.

Rara88Cas · 16/04/2020 15:51

@pink15
I've got a private scan on Monday, and 12 week NHS scan 13th May - so aware that I wont be concentrating on anything until I hear if there's a heartbeat! It might sound strange, but I've not had a scan before - do they check for heartbeat straight away or are you left in suspense for a while during the scan?

canueve · 16/04/2020 16:20

@Rara88Cas I've only had one done, but it was the first thing they did. Only when she saw a heartbeat that she turned on the TV for me to see.

Is anyone with a belly yet? I have convinced myself I have the tiniest thing showing as it's very odd-shaped to just be my normal stomach. I watched loads of youtube progressions and it's crazy how each person is so different.

Rara88Cas · 16/04/2020 16:24

I'm a big girl anyway so no bump for me! I carry all my weight anyway so may not get a bump until last few weeks, however, when I stretch upwards I do feel like my tummys getting more solid underneath so I suspect if I was slimmer I may have a little bump!

SqidgeBum · 16/04/2020 16:29

@canueve I have a bump at 10+5. It's starting to get a bit solid now. I am quite slim though, and this is baby #2 for me. My family (on skype) are convinced I am further along than I think I am.

jeleigh · 16/04/2020 16:37

@canueve I’m convinced I’ve got a bump, but this is my first and I’m quite tall and slim and I didnt think I would show this early. I know everyone shows different but I feel a lot bigger than what I should be for 11 weeks. Im partially blaming being on lockdown too for whatever belly I have right now

burntpinky · 16/04/2020 16:41

@Pink15 good luck! As @HarrietM87 said we all def hold our breath a little on scabs. I had one this morning with my Iona test and was def nervous even though I’d been scanned last week and all was fine. I think it’s natural to feel caution. Felt a bit like peeling our from behind eyes in a scary movie! Let us know how you go but sure all is fine!

Can’t believe how fast this thread is moving - I need to have a proper read later so sorry for not acknowledging anyone/trying to help with replying to issues!

burntpinky · 16/04/2020 16:42

Sorry it was @AnxiousLady1 who said that and it’s scans and peeking. Jesus, see what I mean about this thread moving fast?! 😂

HarrietM87 · 16/04/2020 16:47

Yes it wasn’t me but I totally agree!!! The moments before they say it’s ok stretch on forever and then the relief is immense!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 16/04/2020 16:48

@SqidgeBum I am also 10+5. Smile

I don’t have any sign of a bump yet. I thought I might show quite early, as I’m quite slim, but nothing yet.

littlegem84 · 16/04/2020 16:49

How have the scans gone today ladies? I recall seeing at least one happening today x

Clove20 · 16/04/2020 16:49

Just wanted to say thank you to all the ladies that made me feel miles better about not having a full bladder for my scan.
My scan went well, heard baby's heartbeat and because it was a private scan my OH was there as well. It meant so much to him and he feels it's more real now his seen it.

SqidgeBum · 16/04/2020 16:53

@ParisInTheSpringtime on my first I didnt show til about 15 weeks. I am a little suspicious I may be 3 or so weeks further along than I think I am. My MS started early (I felt sick at 3.5 weeks, hence why I did a test) and eased off much earlier than before, the bump is pretty solid for 10+5, and I swear I have been feeling little pops/flutters, which is basically impossible for 10+5. I will see what the scan says in 12 days time, but if I am further along I wont be having those tests for downs etc as I will have missed the window.

I did have a period at the start of Feb. It seemed like a period, but now I am wondering if it was a heavy implantation bleed Confused

ChasingTheSunshineAlways · 16/04/2020 17:04

@calimommy I'm on the east coast in NY! Glad to find someone else not in the U.K.!

HarrietM87 · 16/04/2020 17:04

I didn’t show for ages and ages with my first...maybe looked a little podgy at about 20 weeks but I was still wearing all my normal clothes and didn’t get a proper bump until about 26 weeks. I was a size 10 so not tiny, and am 5’7 so not massively tall either! Not showing yet this time round though I do have a roll of chub on my stomach. @Squidgebum also convinced I can feel some movement already!
