@anxiouslady1, what a gorgeous near bump!

Knotemma · 11/05/2020 12:48

Neat not near 🙈

didslysquiddlydoo · 11/05/2020 12:49

Amazing news @Avocuddles so happy for you!!!

All went well at my scan too - they said baby looks exactly as expected and we are also having a little girl!! 💓

Avocuddles · 11/05/2020 13:51

@AnxiousLady1 lovely bump! I'm a big fan of over bump trousers, the one under bump pair I bought just slide down all of the time!
No sign of a linea nigra here but I'm quite fair so might not get one. No stretchmarks yet either though not sure that the biooil will keep working indefinitely.....

@didslysquiddlydoo so glad your scan also went well and yay to another little girl!

@didslysquiddlydoo that's brilliant news congratulations! So pleased you've had a positive day!

AnxiousLady1 · 11/05/2020 14:01

@diddlysquiddlydoo Congrats on the great scan today and on your little girl!

All the positive scan updates on here today are making me excited Smile.

Whiffle77 · 11/05/2020 14:02

Congratulations @didslysquiddlydoo and @Avocuddles on your baby girls, you must be really relieved! Coming on here and reading good news always cheers me up!
@AnxiousLady1 that's a cute bump! I am 10 weeks and haven't put any weight on yet, I was a bit heavier than I like to be when I got pregnant though (stress eating) so I suspect I lost some wine weight at the same time as gaining some baby weight! Everything I read said it isnt linear though, and everyone's bodies and babies (and diets!) Are so different. I will keep weighing myself but most important thing is just to try and be healthy (she says after a bacon cob for lunch...!!) But also stay sane!

MrsG3 · 11/05/2020 14:37

Congratulations @didslysquiddlydoo and @Avocuddles on your scans and your healthy little girls! So pleased for you both 💕 xx

TJ88123 · 11/05/2020 16:18

Congrats on your scans today ladies!! Really happy for you both xx

SunStruck · 11/05/2020 17:25

Oh congrats on both your scans and little girls, so cute!! 🥰🥰🥰 how long did the scan take? What were they checking for? X

MOGMOGMOG85 · 11/05/2020 17:33

Congrats @Avocuddles on your baby girl! And @didslysquiddlydoo I didn't see yours in the thread but see other people congratulating so assume it was a positive one!

@MrsG3 good luck for tomorrow

@Whiffle77 I'm so fat at the moment its awful! My belly is def poking out but its def not a bump :'( fingers crossed one day soon we'll start to show and put us out of our fat-in-between-stage misery!

I'm definitely not going to weigh myself, or worry about my weight unless the midwife flags something up.

Question for those who had nausea - when did it stop for you? I want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly so I can be prepared! I 'm so fed up - thought it was easing up last week but it's back and a bit worse I think. I'm coming up to 10 weeks and hoping I'm almost through! The idea of 6 more weeks of this is a bit overwhelming...

Knotemma · 11/05/2020 17:58

@MOGMOGMOG85 I'm 21 weeks still nauseous at some point virtually every day and still throwing up a lot 🙈 but I'm definitely at the more extreme end of the spectrum, from 6-13 weeks I was throwing up 10-30 times a day. So 4 times today seems manageable 😂

MOGMOGMOG85 · 11/05/2020 18:10

@Knotemma yes I have noticed your story... I'm not even throwing up (just constant nausea) so I hope that means I'm not going to follow in your footsteps! You poor thing! xx

Knotemma · 11/05/2020 18:22

@MOGMOGMOG85 my too tips are eat beige (you can worry about veg later on) eat little and often, try not to drink when you're eating (the squelshy feeling makes it so much worse) and try not to gulp it down when you drink! Best advice I saw was to put lemonade or squash over ice to help slow you down. I also can't drink water. It has to be flavoured, we've gone through a lot of squash! Final tip is to make sure you take you prenatals/folic acid after you eat. Those bad boys used to kill me on an empty stomach. Fingers crossed things calm down for you soon it is rotten. Some days I think the constant nausea is worse. I'm definitely not the norm though, I've always had a funny stomach

Shefliesonherownwings · 11/05/2020 19:21

@MOGMOGMOG85 last year I had constant nausea until around 18-20 weeks. I was only sick twice I think but felt sick all the time. After 20 weeks it did go but it was miserable before that.

I'm 14 weeks this time and it is wearing off a lot now. It definitely wasn't as bad this time, still feeling sick a lot but not as severely and I've not been sick at all.

I agree with the beige food. Last year I lived on tinned ravioli and crisps! I had to constantly eat as well as it was worse if I felt hungry. Ice cold drinks helped me too. Hope it eases soon, it really isn't fun feeling sick all the time.

didslysquiddlydoo · 11/05/2020 19:25

Ahhh thanks guys, such a relief!!

@SunStruck my scan took about 20-25 mins and the sonographer has a checklist of things to see -

  • Skull & ventricles
  • heart 4 chamber view and outflows
  • left and right arm 3 bones
  • left and right leg 3 bones
  • Cerebellum
  • face
  • spine - long and transverse
  • stomach / diaphragm
  • cord insertion *kidneys and bladder *placenta site

She talked me through each thing and what she was saying and told me things looked perfect etc then at the very end asked if I wanted to know the sex. It wasn't as scary as I expected it to be - hope that info helps you be as prepared as possible!
I saw midwives afterwards, who explained the scan, asked how I was etc - this was because I didn't have my 16 week appointment in the community.

So I have a low lying placenta apparently, meaning I need to have another scan at 32 weeks to check on whether it's moved up or not. Always something 🙈😂

TunnocksTcake · 11/05/2020 19:29

Hi ladies, my scan went really well too and we are also expecting a girl! 💕 so so relieved I didn't stop crying for about ten minutes after I think I have dh a scare!

TunnocksTcake · 11/05/2020 19:30

Eugh posted too soon! @didslysquiddlydoo @Avocuddles so glad yours also went well and you're having girls! I don't know about you but I am shattered this evening!

I don't have a Linea negra yet but I have a hairy belly! 🙈

What a lovely day of updates. Congratulations everyone. Were you all alone in the scans?

I rang the dr today and he's referred me to the obs consultant and also to endocrine consultant as he wants my under-active thyroid carefully monitored this time. He's up my thyroxine meds and put me on high dose folic acid.

Anyone else here with thyroid issues?

AnxiousLady1 · 11/05/2020 19:54

@TunnocksTcake Congratualtions on your little girl! I was waiting to hear your update too as I knew you also had a scan today. Great pic btw! Looks clear. I can actually see her little spine I think?

@MOGMOGMOG85 I'm 14+1 and feeling much better since the weekend. The worst of the nausea eased for me by 11 weeks but I was still getting some milder nausea and more headaches until last week. As others have said, beige food got me through the first trimester. I just told myself that as I was taking the vitamins, anything I was missing from my diet would be covered. The last few days I've started to be a little more conscious about what I'm eating again. Now that I can actually stand to be in kitchen cooking. It's great to feel a little control back. I was nowhere near as bad as poor @Knotemma but I recall my cousin was on both her pregnancies and I certainly wouldn't have been able to cope! I was miserable enough with the level of MS I had!

didslysquiddlydoo · 11/05/2020 20:09

@TunnocksTcake Ahhhh amazing!! I can't believe all three of us are having girls and all had positive scans!!

I really hope that gives everyone else lots of hope and belief that things can go well for us all! I can't wait to keep hearing news like this as more people approach their scan dates!!! 💓💓

tmc14 · 11/05/2020 20:29

@didslysquiddlydoo @Avocuddles @TunnocksTcake ah congratulations ladies, lovely to hear your positive scan news xx

TJ88123 · 11/05/2020 20:31

@footprintsintheslow - my thyroid is overactive .. it was up a couple years ago then controlled by tablets and I was off them for over a year, but it went up again v recently. Just something else to worry about!

SammiLou2312 · 11/05/2020 21:08

@Avocuddles @didslysquiddlydoo @TunnocksTcake congratulations on your positive scans and welcome to team pink! Such cute and clear pictures too. Hope everyone is doing ok x

Avocuddles · 11/05/2020 22:19

@TunnocksTcake congratulations on your scan, the photo is so clear! It's definitely all about girl power today, strange to think that in another 20wks time there could be a trio of gorgeous baby photos heading our way!

@SunStruck my scan was much the same as @didslysquiddlydoo. She showed me the various parts of the baby after she'd completed her initial checks. Didn't say anything about the placenta so i assume it's in a 'normal' position - the term normal was used a lot during the scan which was definitely comforting! The only part where the baby wasn't being very cooperative was when it came to looking at their gender - she had her legs tucked up and a foot covering her genitals, in the end the sonographer got me to stand up and jiggle around a bit which did the trick! There was no midwife at my hospital, my next midwife contact will be at 25 weeks. My whooping cough vaccine is booked for Thursday then I have a telephone appointment with my consultant next week so still plenty going on, the plan is for me to have a scan at 28 weeks so I'm crossing my fingers that by then DH might be able to come along.
@footprintsintheslow yes I was by myself with DH waiting in the car outside. I was ok once the initial nerves subsided but it was a shame that he wasn't there to share the experience. I don't have thyroid issues but am under an obs consultant for clotting issues, much as I would prefer to have a better medical history and low risk it's reassuring to have extra monitoring. The sonographer did ask me today where the bruises on my stomach came from (I'm not sure if they had set off her domestic violence radar!) but she was very understanding when I explained that I'm on clexane injections.....

@MOGMOGMOG85 my nausea was never particularly debilitating, I think it disappeared around 10-11 weeks having peaked a couple of weeks earlier. Hopefully you'll be past the worst of it soon.

@TunnocksTcake I am indeed shattered and off to bed now! Hope you have a restful night.
