@avocuddles my 20 week scan is on May 11th too!!! 🤞🏼 my 16 week apt just got flat out cancelled, not even over the phone!

didslysquiddlydoo · 18/04/2020 11:31

Welcome to the group @Rainbowafterthestorm and congratulations! This is a really supportive group that's been a real saviour for me throughout this pregnancy, especially in the first twelve weeks which seemed never ending! Xx

Avocuddles · 18/04/2020 12:00

@MOGMOGMOG85 at three weeks pregnant the embryo is smaller than a poppy seed and very very well protected from any bumps or knocks. I fell right down the stairs early on in my second pregnancy (about 5 weeks) but after reading up on it felt happy that it wouldn't have a negative effect. I'm sure now that my miscarriages were due to defects in the embryo that meant they were never going to develop beyond a certain stage, and nothing I could have done would have made a difference. Try not to be hard on yourself or you'll find yourself terrified of everything!

@MrsMGE no haven't been watching much, we watched two episode of The Mandelorian last night so Star Wars themed dreams would have made sense I guess!
Your 'what will be will be' attitude is very sensible and definitely how I approached this pregnancy. If you have one or two miscarriages, unless you have a known condition it is most likely that these were both caused by defects that were incompatible with life - from everything I've read that's the general reason why recurrent miscarriage investigations don't usually take place until after three losses as the majority of women in that situation still have a strong chance of a healthy pregnancy third time round. Hopefully we are both in that group!

@Treaclepie19 @Shefliesonherownwings I'm glad I'm not the only crazy one!

@tmc14 quality not quantity I say! Hopefully the next five weeks won't drag for you. Mine is three weeks on Monday.....

@Rainbowafterthestorm welcome and so pleased to hear your pregnancy is going well so soon after your loss. I'd choose to interpret 'chunky' a heavy handed way of saying they appear to be a good size!

@Pippop21 we will all be thinking of you tomorrow xx

TunnocksTcake · 18/04/2020 12:02

So much to catch up on this morning!
@Pippop21 I wouldn't expect that colour of discharge to be an indication of MC, more an infection. Even if it doesn't smell it may be worth getting a swab done. I also have heard that vitamins can do this.

@Avocuddles we haven't had much sex at all, especially since my spotting the last couple of weeks I'm too scared. Even though I know it's most likely to be my cervix I just don't want to see any blood! I feel bad because I know dh really wants to, and I did promise him this would be the trimester when I'm supposed to get my sex drive back (!) maybe if a week or so passes with none I will feel more comfortable.

17 weeks today and have my 16 week appt over the phone on Monday. Apparently after that they will send out scan letter which I am dying to get, I need the next thing to aim for!

TunnocksTcake · 18/04/2020 12:04

@MOGMOGMOG85 I was going to say as well I think a chat with your employer might be a good idea. I know when I've had my recent spotting I've not wanted to do anything that could make it worse so if I were you I would probably be taking it very easy too. With heavy equipment and fumes they should definitely be making allowances for you I should think.

Treaclepie19 · 18/04/2020 12:04

My next scan is 4th May so its really getting closer now! I'll be 17+5 then.
Looking forward to seeing baby and hoping things are all still developing as they should 🤞

MrsMGE · 18/04/2020 12:17

@Avocuddles Thanks ❤️ I sometimes wonder whether the fact I'm on progesterone will not actually help, but only delay another MC, but then I shake it off as it's assuming another loss as that starting point. I think these thoughts will go away later on. What are you up to today?

Pippop21 · 18/04/2020 13:12

@TunnocksTcake ive been tested and have nothibf xx

Treaclepie19 · 18/04/2020 13:18

@Pippop21 they can only test for BV by a swab so its definitely worth it if you're not sure. Its just a common infection.

@Avocuddles no sex here so far. Both too nervous!

My 16 week scan was over the phone too ... initially. Despite having blood tests at the start of all of my pregnancies, my previous midwife never provided the results, never updated the system with my blood type or results, or returned any calls I made in those previous pregnancies. She was also dismissive of my anxieties in my third pregnancy, and I had to battle to get referred to the EPU when I correctly suspected a third miscarriage.

Turns out I’m rhesus negative which can potentially cause my blood to develop antibodies which can be dangerous for the baby so was asked to go straight in for more blood tests. So frustrated this hasn’t been picked up before, and the general lax recording of information previously. Had a second NIPT (free this time) so they can find out baby’s blood type and if it’s + I’ll be adding some more injections to the list. Anyone else rhesus negative?

20 week scan is on 15th May and after having so many in trimester 1 this added bit of stress has left me feeling anxious as I wait. Definitely counting the days! I have no bump yet (but I was 14 stone to start with - and still am) and concentrating like mad to see if I can feel any nudges yet to reassure me.

Littlegoth · 18/04/2020 14:00

16 week midwife even, not scan

SammiLou2312 · 18/04/2020 14:28

@littlegoth I'm also b rhesus negative. Had to have anti d injection after last miscarriage as I needed to surgery to remove it and have to go for blood tests to check babies DNA this time on Monday... I was also left frustrated by my 16 week appointment as it was over the phone by a completely different midwife who had none of my history. When I mentioned I was struggling with my anxiety due to 5 previous MC she said she had no mention of a previous one at all...on the plus side they have said they will do a heartbeat check on Monday if possible and my 20 week scan has been moved up a couple of days to 3rd May.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Sorry I've struggled to keep up with conversations lately. Been busy working from home and have stopped getting notifications lately it seems so usually have 5 or more pages to catch up on by time I check x

Avocuddles · 18/04/2020 15:27

@MrsMGE the progesterone certainly won't do any harm so it's well worth trying. I didn't do anything differently this time round (was already on clexane and aspirin in previous pregnancies) which was really worrying at first, I would have loved to have felt that there was something i was doing / taking differently if it had been on offer.
We're having a lazy day as the weather isn't great. Just played a board game (ticket to ride Japan!) and about to go for a walk though imagine it might be a brisker one than on a warm sunny day!

@TunnocksTcake I was given my 20 week scan letter at the 12 week appointment. They do them any time from 18 to 21 weeks typically so you shouldn't have long to wait! It's the other way round in our household - whilst I'm quite cautious, DH is the really nervous one.

@Littlegoth your scan is a few days after mine. In the first trimester we had scans at 7 and 9 weeks so it's felt like a long time since the 12 week one but it does feel like it's almost within reach now.
Super common A+ blood type for me and not rhesus negative. Glad they tested you quickly and hope you don't have to wait long for baby's results....

@SammiLou2312 glad you don't have to wait long for your scan and it will be great if you can hear heartbeat on Monday.

Hope you're all having a relaxed day. Anyone doing anything exciting?

MissSparkles81 · 18/04/2020 15:52

Hiya ladies just catching up with the thread.

We had a scan last night at window to the womb which showed a happy healthy wee baby measuring bang on for dates. I am 9 weeks today! I still can't relax and believe that everything will work out ok.

Still have another 4 weeks till our 12 week scan! Why does time move so damn slow lol!

Hope you are all having a nice weekend xx

MOGMOGMOG85 · 18/04/2020 16:19

@MissSparkles81 I'm so happy for you! I can't imagine what that feels like! 9 weeks is a great measurement for a strong healthy baby in there :)

@Avocuddles thank you! I can't believe you fell down the stairs, you seem to have some pretty tough incidents! Last time I was pregnant I got stung by a wasp, bitten by a whole nest of ants and unfortuatnely had a tick on me too - it was summer and everything just kept coming for me I was like a magnet! Hopefully not so much will happen this time.

Thanks @TunnocksTcake I will speak to them and get back to you guys here about what they say for some perspective, it's good to get others viewpoints xx

MissSparkles81 · 18/04/2020 16:27

@mogmogmog85 thank you lovely. It was such a lovely moment especially as my bf got to be there. Its been a tough week as we never got to this stage last time.

MOGMOGMOG85 · 18/04/2020 20:24

@MissSparkles81 ah you must both be over the moon - I'm so happy for you :) I just found out that my boyfriend can be at my scan, I'm booked in for May 6th which is ages away, I'll be 8+3 fingers crossed. I can imagine that elation at seeing something in there, and a heartbeat xxx

MissSparkles81 · 18/04/2020 20:42

@mogmogmog85 awww im so pleased that your bf can be with you. It really does make a difference 💞

tmc14 · 18/04/2020 21:07

@MissSparkles81 congratulations on the scan, so pleased for you xx

MOGMOGMOG85 · 19/04/2020 08:08

Yay, I'm here, I'm pregnant, I've had no bleeding in 24 hours, and I made it to 6 weeks. I now know that blood doesn't necessarily mean miscarriage, and what a horrible lesson it is to learn! Now I'm just one more woman on here with a story of bleeding to hopefully reassure the next woman that this happens to.

Whiffle77 · 19/04/2020 09:14

Really pleased about your positive scan @MissSparkles81 that's great news! I have one at WTTW too a week today - I will be 8+2. My MC was at 8 weeks in the dot so psychologically I wanted some reassurance, and wanted my husband there.
Well done on making it to six weeks @MOGMOGMOG85 I've made it to 7. I'd started spotting by this point last time and had nothing so far this time - again it means nothing but it still helps. This week will be one of the worst to get through I think, can't wait to be at this time next week. So bad wishing your life away!! If all ok after that I will add myself to the list, can't quite do it yet

AnxiousLady1 · 19/04/2020 10:02

Definitely having a wobble today. I've my 12 wk scan on Friday and from the point I woke this morning have convinced myself I'll be told it's another MMC. Have to go to the scan alone, which makes it more nerve wracking. I've spent the last hour doing what I've tried to avoid, and looking up stats on having two consecutive MMC. Then struggled with the fact that if I am told the worst, the options available to me will be limited due to coronavirus. I opted to not have further private scans due to CV risks, but am now kicking myself a little, thinking if it is going to be bad news, I'd at least have known sooner. Not that it would have made much of a difference I guess...Sorry for the negativity ladies. Just in my head a bit today.
