@Jadey31 congratulations! It varies from place to place but here i had to call my gp surgery and book in with midwife, some places i know you can self refer online. I booked mine last week and its in two weeks time. They usually do booking in around 8 weeks i think, so definitely look into it soon. Im also due around 14th december! 😊

Bassbeh17 · 16/04/2020 10:30

I am really suffering with cramps again today I’ve actually taken paracetamol which I never ever take but it’s so low down like real dull period pains and I can’t function at work with it!
Anyone else having or had this? I’m 4+6 and just wondering how long this will last. I’m lucky I’ve got no sickness or anything but at the moment can honestly say I would rather the nausea!

Babydance255 · 16/04/2020 10:45

Just had my consultation this morning, she was lovely! I am currently 5+3 as well & she went through everything which is good!

PBailey20 · 16/04/2020 10:54

Anyone else got terrible nausea? I constantly feel like I am on the verge of being sick. It's like a terrible hangover. I've found eating helps but only a small amount so I've been snacking on rich tea biscuits. Really glad I'm not at work at the moment as I have no idea how I'd get through the day!

Hatepickinganame · 16/04/2020 11:23

@PBailey20 mine is really starting to kick in now, feels like my stomach has been set on a spin cycle! I remember eating all the time in my last pregnancy because of it and i put on so much weight that this time im trying to ignore it. Anyone have any healthier snack tips? I have big babies anyway and will get big but dont want to put on more than i have to!!

RunnerGirl123 · 16/04/2020 11:24

Where I am, you phone the doctor and they give you all basic information re supplements and what you can and can't eat etc. They then refer you to the midwife. I heard from the midwife team 2 days later and have my booking appointment booked in for next friday when I'll be 8+1.
You can self refer but I prefer going through my gp.

My nausea is usually faint, and comes and goes depending on how hungry I am. However brushing my teeth now makes me heave and then I throw up, so changing my toothpaste today. I'm also going to try eat smaller meals because I'm finding I'm feeling full more quickly now when I have my dinner.

ElsaCC · 16/04/2020 11:43

@hatepickinganame I find that pickles, especially cornichons, are now my best friends! And also fishfingers but cooked in the oven as oil doesnt help me with nausea. Also water, lots and lots of water with lemon. Hope it helps and congrats xx

Bassbeh17 · 16/04/2020 14:00

Anyone with any advice on the period cramps? Constantly feels like full bladder but not relieved after going. No painful when I wee so not thinking UTI. Just strange. Probably totally normal but it’s pretty distracting at work and now my paracetamol has worn off it’s coming back! All dull heavy aches no sharp pain and no bleeding.
I’m 4+6 days x

AnnieCa34 · 16/04/2020 15:08

@Bassbeh17 I had really bad cramps for about 2 weeks between 4-6 weeks and they were awful, I would say take Paracetamol as have to work but I didn’t find anything helped them apart from gentle exercise like walking around. Now I am 7+2 I rarely get them still occasionally but not nearly so bad. Now it’s just nausea, would rather the cramps back. Sorry I can’t suggest anything that works :-(

Lily501 · 16/04/2020 15:15

@Bassbeh17 - have you tried heat pads? A hot water bottle obviously wouldn't be very convenient at work, but you can get these heat pads that really helped me with period cramping (I used to get it really badly!) The last ones I used were ThermaCare and I got them on Amazon I think. Very discreet too for while at work with busy, curious littlies (I'm a nanny too!)

Must add - no idea on whether or not these are ok during pregnancy?? Can't see why not, but maybe check first??

Bassbeh17 · 16/04/2020 15:19

@AnnieCa34 and @Lily501 thank you!! I have been using hot water bottles at home and moving around 100% helps! At work I’m going to tough it out as much as I can paracetamol when I need to. So glad to hear it goes!!

Joinedin2020 · 16/04/2020 15:47

@lemondropsandgumdrops I think(!!) I will be bang on 7 weeks! I think it will really help as I'm just feeling helplessly worried all the time at the moment, I hear that's normal though haha!

lma00015 · 16/04/2020 16:20

Hey everyone,

I was wondering how everyone is feeling?

I have been feeling extremely tired the past couple of days, I'm now 6+3. I was wondering if anyone knows anything I can do to perk myself up a bit. It's horrible feeing this tired all the time!

lionsmum · 16/04/2020 17:29

Hi @lma00015 doing okay thank you, some days feeling better than others. The tiredness is all consuming for me too, the only thing I've found to help is a short nap if I can during the day so I can last until the evening. Not possible for everyone though I know. It's a different kind of tired to usual too, an all consuming tiredness that can't be ignored!

I have my private scan on Sunday which I'm nervous about but also looking forward to, I know a few ladies on here also have a scan over the weekend. Good luck to all! I got my initial appointment through which for now is face to face. Also got a call from the foetal medicine dept. saying they are going to give me an early scan at the end of next week (will have to attend alone) so that's nice to have arranged too, I imagine they will be keeping an eye on me throughout this whole pregnancy.

How is everyone else?😊

YahBasic · 16/04/2020 18:33

5+5 today and yet another pregnancy test arrived from Amazon, so obviously did it 😂 nice darker line which is good to see.

Feeling ok except for the tiredness. I’m lucky in that I’m wfh, so agree with the lunchtime nap! Particularly as I’m not sleeping too well at night so my brain is a bit foggy.

I have found that I am permanently cold though. Realised I was doing a video conference call earlier in my dressing gown, very classy.

Luckily no sickness yet, and even the aches aren’t really that bad.

I’ve done the self referral form for the midwife so just waiting another few weeks for the first appointment then scan. We’ve literally not told anyone else (well, except you guys!) so think at this point, we will just wait for the scan.

@lionsmum

Yeah the tiredness is horrible at the moment. Been napping at lest once a day around late afternoon which tides me over till it's time for bed. I just can't wait to get my energy back.

Aww good luck for the scan!
I have one booked for the 6th of may so counting down the days!

TrulyMiss · 16/04/2020 19:59

How many weeks are you? I’m waiting for mine to move to 3+!!

LuLaLaLa · 16/04/2020 20:05

@YahBasic I’m so cold too!! Living in my dressing gown 😂

2108Ta · 16/04/2020 20:05

@lionsmum I have scan booked for then too! Longest 3 weeks ever!

rooarsome · 16/04/2020 20:18

I have such a craving for bao buns or crispy duck and pancakes today 😭 I've been wanting more savoury things during this pregnancy as well I've noticed so far x

Helpthisgirl · 16/04/2020 20:19

Hey everyone I got my bfp on Thursday last week I’m about 5 weeks, I think!

@Helpthisgirl - congrats! Love your progression pic!!! 😍

Mrsirvine · 16/04/2020 20:34

Girls I’m also Baltic! I am sooo cold. No sickness yet, just bloating, tiredness and cold! Xx

Deb86 · 16/04/2020 20:39

@Bassbeh17 hope you are feeling better, just a heads up, I don't think paracetamol is advised on the first 12 weeks when the baby is developing. I'm so not one of those telling what to do, what to eat etc, but my sister is a midwife and always says that about paracetamol. I had lots of cramps at about 4 weeks, thought my period was coming so didn't even do a pregnancy test for a few days. It settled after a week or so.

Deb86 · 16/04/2020 20:43

Congrats to everyone else joining.
I just phoned the doctors today and they say I need to go in to surgery to fill out forms to be referred to midwife. Really surprised I can't do that over the phone or online. I'm 6+2 so will probably hold off a bit. Would be quite happy waiting till 12 weeks to see anyone but 2nd baby for me. If a remember right not much happens in the early visits.
