How are you feeling if so? How far along are you?

I’m due 12th August, 21 weeks 1 day today, first baby and I’m having a boy!

I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed with this whole pandemic and the unknown of whether it’s going to be better by then! Fingers crossed for the best.

I also really want to start buying things but feel bad for shopping online given the current scenario, I just don’t want to leave it all til last minute and be really unprepared.

Would love to hear from you all Flowers

@heroineinahalfshell yes please spill the beans 🤣

Bert2020 · 08/05/2020 10:03

Pregnancy just doesn’t suit me at all, thanking my lucky stars though and remembering this is the last time so enjoying as much as possible.
For the breathlessness I really recommend looking up some stretches, my yoga class done loads and it really does help.

StephD2020 · 08/05/2020 10:06

@oldestchild90s I've put on 3 stone! 😱😱😱 right before I found out I was pregnant I was hitting massive PBs in the gym (140kg hip thrusts for reps) and was in the shape of my life. My trainer was using me as an advert for how to get ripped using him as a PT! Now I feel like I've gone right the other way 😭 I know it will all come back but literally cannot wait to get back into my usual routines, lifting heavy and hardcore dieting!

Aww @squashie34 yea we are due date buddies! 28 weeks on Sunday 🥳 I've always fancied a go a cross fit but it's expensive enough with a PT and the CrossFit's near me in London are not cheap at all. Would love to give it a go tho. This was my set up yesterday morning:

heroineinahalfshell · 08/05/2020 10:09

Haha, sorry ladies no secret other than I really was v unhealthy prior to pregnancy and my eating and exercise habits have vastly improved - my BMI was 31 when I fell pregnant, but I've only gained 8lb so far and the bump, while increasing rapidly, isn't yet at the point that it's getting in the way (the only thing I don't seem able to do is take off my own trainers after a walk!) Honestly I've surprised myself, I was sure I'd be a terrible pregnant person, lol.

squashie34 · 08/05/2020 10:23

@StephD2020 just think of the advert your PT will use this time when you go back and you lose that 3 stone! They'll be inundated with clients 😂 well done you for still being so on it with the exercising, I'm in awe! Crossfit isn't cheap even in the midlands where I live so I'd hate to think of the cost near/in London! But that's my one expense I allow myself each month as it gives me such a good social circle too.

mable88 · 08/05/2020 10:48

I’m mostly loving being pregnant - the first 12 weeks were utter hell as I felt so sick alllll the live long day. But after 12 weeks has mostly been lovely as I’ve felt so much better and loved seeing my bump grow. I think I’m juuuuust hitting the tipping point of bump being big enough to get a bit uncomfortable, I’ve noticed I’m a bit breathless over the last couple of days and my walks are definitely starting to slow down a bit! And last night I just could not get comfy in bed, first time that’s happened Confused BUT other than that everything is going well so I reminding myself to feel grateful for a healthy, straightforward pregnancy Smile

sel2223 · 08/05/2020 11:07

Just catching up and laughing out loud talking about waddling and making a really excessive amount of noise getting up off the sofa.... I can definitely relate Grin

I love having a bump and feeling little kicks but generally I'm not particularly enjoying pregnancy.....I just feel massive and knackered all the time. I try and go out for walks and have done the odd pregnancy yoga video on YouTube but some days I just can't be bothered to do anything at all.
Except bake.....this lockdown has turned me into a Mary Berry wannabe and I've got the worst sweet tooth at the moment!

It's now 11am. I haven't been in the shower yet and I'm still in my pj's, breakfast has given me heartburn (standard). I'm tired as I spent all night tossing and turning and I'm trying to talk myself into washing my hair since I haven't washed it in 4 days! I also really need to do some housework but I've been staring at the hoover for the last hour and a half. I've turned into a right slob!

2020Aug · 08/05/2020 11:16

I am definitely getting full quickly, but then I get hungry again very quickly too!

I'm enjoying being pregnant and love my bump, not enjoying the tiredness that I've had recently. I was into aerial and pole fitness before pregnancy and was used to lifting my body weight easily upside down , but my midwife told me to give it up at 9 weeks and switch to gentle exercise, so feeling very weak and unfit now!! I've been doing what I can, pilates and walking a lot but I can't wait to get my fitness and strength back again! Doesn't help I have a pole at home which is just staring at me, should've taken it down!

I also second the groaning when I get up, everything just feels more of a challenge now!

StephD2020 · 08/05/2020 11:30

@sel2223 don't feel bad, I'm the same! Been up hours, haven't showered and have just had coffee and crumpets in bed while I contemplate what to do today! I reckon make the most of it hun, cos in 12 weeks time things are gonna be a LOT different!

@squashie34 yup, he is gonna make a mint off me as I cannot WAIT to get back to training properly again (maybe I should ask for commission 🤔). Might have to give CrossFit a go too seeing as we are moving closer to one when we finally move! 😁

@2020Aug how comes your midwife told you to give it up at 9 weeks? I thought pretty much all exercise was good if you did it before? Is it the risk of contact? X

Lolxx · 08/05/2020 11:34

@sel2223 I could if written your last paragraph haha! I’m the exact same right now, I’ve been trying to do the housework for days but I keep telling myself that it can get done tomorrow seeing as I have nothing else to do!!

Anyone ordered any bits? I ordered my snuzpod on Tuesday & it arrived on the Wednesday! Was from a site called online4baby & I got a fantastic deal!!

2020Aug · 08/05/2020 11:39

@StephD2020 I had an internal bleed that they saw on a scan (had no actual bleeding or spotting) so told me to rest especially as I'd had a MC not long before (fell pregnant straight away again) so said I needed to take it easy. The bleed had been re- absorbed by 12 weeks and no further problems 🤞, but told me to just stick to light exercise. I always thought I'd be carrying on with my gym routine until the very end, but my body had other plans! Clearly I will do whatever needs to be done to keep baby safe, but I also cant wait to get back to it!

@sel2223 I've not long got up 😂, decided I'm not feeling guilty about it, I need my rest!

sel2223 · 08/05/2020 11:39

Phew! So pleased it's not just me. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself and I do keep reminding myself that things are going to be very different in 3 months time.

@Lolxx I've got a snuzpod too! I love it. It's in the corner of my room at the moment and I'm slowly filling it with vests and babygrows and muslin cloths etc.

Superscientist · 08/05/2020 11:39

I can some times manage pilates and prenatal exercise classes. Other than that a walk to the garden is all I can manage.

My first trimester fatigue never went away - I feel cheated out of my "wonder woman" trimester. Its not helped that my mood has been low pretty much the whole pregnancy.

I don't feel that heavy yet which is something, I half forget I have a bump then I catch a glimpse of my shadow and wonder when did it appear! Haha!

Jeca8 · 08/05/2020 11:39

I had lost a stone before pregnancy as was getting into a good exercise routine but since being pregnant I’m lost as I was doing HIIT and weights which I’ve been told I can no longer do. Put just over a stone on (24 weeks) really hoping I don’t put on loads more - not sure how much of this weight is baby related and how much is biscuit related lol.

Thekindyoufindinasecondhand · 08/05/2020 11:45

Hi everyone! I'm 27 weeks and just found you all Grin I'm loving that most of you are feeling like me (sorry). Hungry, lazy and huge haha, I keep saying my baby better be cute after all this!
I'm sure my husband is so fed up of the weird grunting I make everytime I get up or move slightly, but don't think he'd dare say anything.
I was thinking last night about the sort of birth I'd like, I know this may sound odd but who do you tell this to?! I know people speak about birthing plans but if you want a specific type of pain relief or a water birth etc I'm guessing they have to get it ready for you, so do you just tell them when you turn up to pop baby out or beforehand?

StephD2020 · 08/05/2020 11:49

Oh @2020Aug that makes total sense and yea, defo your body telling you to take it easy! Although I whinge about the weight gain I do know I'll get it all off eventually and if my baby wants biscuits and ice cream then that's what she will get! (@Jeca8 I definitely have malted milk related weight gain). 🤣

@lolxx I have literally ordered EVERYTHING. And I mean down to things like the maternity pads and lip balm for my hospital bag! I have a touch of OCD and need to plan to calm my anxiety so had to as I was so worried about things not arriving on time. If anyone wants my spreadsheet of purchases then more than happy to share - I've run it past all of my friends and family who are Mums to make sure I didn't forget anything! #obsessive 🤓

cannotmakemymindup · 08/05/2020 12:17

Just catching up, you are all making me feel better about being 'lazy' some days! Yesterday I had a headache and period like pains (probably gas) and did not achieve much at all. I felt so bad. Hoping for a better day. I sound ridiculous getting off the sofa especially if I need a wee. However my husband is no better and he is just an old man way before his time Grin at least I have an excuse. I thought I was being ridiculous waddling already.

Plans include baking a yummy chocolate cake and a bath! Need to sort my hair out. I don't think lockdown has helped on feeling blugh as normal maintenance cannot be done like eyebrows. My first pregnancy I definitely felt better in the second trimester than I have for this one!

Nfblues · 08/05/2020 12:22

Grin the posts about making noises when getting up from the sofa omg I can’t move without releasing some kind of alien grunt. I’m sure the neighbours love it haha! I’ve had a well defined bump since about week 16ish so have been waddling since then, takes me 10 mins to bend down enough to put shoes on too! I’m 26 weeks now and feeling quite good apart from the waddling and I have lots of heartburn late at night regardless of what I’ve eaten. By then I’m usually tucked in bed and cba to get the gaviscon so I usually just try to pretend it’s not happening and ignore it lol. I’ve also put on a lot of weight, I’d lost some weight before finding out I was pregnant and was quite chuffed with myself, have now put on more than a stone so there was no point of all that hard work!

@Thekindyoufindinasecondhand You should be discussing with your midwife at one of the later appointments - I think 36weeks if I’m not mistaken. I mentioned I’d prefer a water birth in the MLU at one of my early appointments and she said if I remain low risk we can discuss it at the end and arrange it. I also got emailed a birth plan template from my local midwifery team to start thinking about it now, although I wanted to finish watching antenatal and hypnobirthing videos first before filling it in. Definitely do some research if you’re not sure but always be open minded because you can do all the reading in the world but your baby won’t have read those books and will be born when and how they want. I’m a nurse and watched some emergency and elective C-sections as a student nurse, so I feel quite calm if everything goes tits up. Well I do now, ask me again in 14 weeks haha

Oldestchild90s · 08/05/2020 12:29

Has anyone bought a pram yet? And what is a Snuzpod? I think i'm nearly there with bits!

What does everyone think to the birthing plans? My midwife said i should atleast start thinking about it, but i have to be honest my plan was to 'have baby and go home' 😂 i'm obviously too immature when it comes to things like that!

2020Aug · 08/05/2020 12:47

I'd ideally like to have mine in the hospitals birthing centre and maybe a water birth, but I'm not getting my hopes up in case it doesn't work out. So long as baby is safe, I'll do whatever needs to be done.

I have a pram, the ocarro and we got a next to me crib which I think is similar to a snuzpod - a bedside crib.

Latest weirdest side effect of pregnancy - I've noticed my teeth have moved, never had a gap between my front teeth before but now I have a small one! I've also developed a double sneeze I do daily since first trimester, often about 5am waking my DH up 😂.

Lolxx · 08/05/2020 13:31

@sel2223 oh I can’t wait to build mines & have it looking all pretty! Will get the OH to take the box upstairs tonight!

I have been so worried about trying to order a pram as I hadn’t had the opportunity to go & shop before the lockdown so I’ve felt nervous to pick one online! I done a whole lot of researching yesterday however & I think we’ve decided on he needs venicci titun but it needs to be preordered so won’t be here til end of June. Hopefully baby behaves & defo doesn’t come before then!!

I ideally want a water birth with minimal intervention. I am a pretty big realist though & understand that my baby doesn’t have a birthing plan so I don’t see the point in having one set & stone as I know if it doesn’t go to plan it’ll make my anxiety worse. I have a feeling I’ll go the full hog & need an induction anyway which means you might not be able to have a water birth. I have been obsessively watching one born every minute which I’ve found really helpful with just understanding that anything can happen & just to let nature take its course. I thought it would of terrified me but it’s made me feel more relaxed lol!

Thekindyoufindinasecondhand · 08/05/2020 13:34

@nfblues amazing thanks! Yes a lot of my friends and family have said unless there is something you want specifically like a water birth etc a birth plan isn't worth much as baby makes the decisions not us Grin I just want to request a specific type of pain relief that's not as mainstream as an epidural etc. I'll check with my midwife closer to the date!

Oldestchild90s · 08/05/2020 13:51

@Lolxx i'm exactly the same, obsessed by One born at the moment! My midwife told me off and said it's not realistic enough as they don't just sitting around eating cakes all day 👀 sounds like she just had a guilty conscience haha 🤪

Bert2020 · 08/05/2020 13:52

Definitely have a look online at a template and have your ‘ideal’ birth plan written, it’s much better to focus on the best case I think. However do keep in mind if it isn’t possible what alternatives you will consider. With my dd no one mentioned birth plan until I was in the labour room discussing medication Grin

Bert2020 · 08/05/2020 13:54

@StephD2020 sorry I forgot did you hear anything yesterday?
