Haha chicken super noodles were one of the few things I could eat a few weeks ago 🤣

WhatWouldPennyDo · 06/04/2020 19:21

Had my 12w scan today. Baby growing well, and heart beat very clear. Nuchal results all normal but bloods have come back giving us a high chance of Down’s.

Had a further blood test today (NIPT) so got to wait for the results now.

professorastrocat · 06/04/2020 19:55

Glad the scan was ok @WhatWouldPennyDo how do you feel about the blood results?

Lolllyf · 06/04/2020 20:07

@WhatWouldPennyDo I have friends who have had this and the nipt has been normal. I had nipt (harmony) last week, am 11 weeks now. Decided I wanted to do it for that reason so that I have the results before the 12 week scan. Holding thumbs that your result will be normal.

Mc3209 · 06/04/2020 20:25

@WhatWouldPennyDo fingers crossed results will work out. I've come across situations where NIPT comes back as low risk, when the initial screening bloods were high risk. NIPT is much more accurate.

Thanks everyone. Was given a 1 in 25 chance so pretty high. Will just have to wait and see.

roarfeckingroar · 06/04/2020 20:42

@Mc3209 you absolute animal that is an awesome craving!

@WhatWouldPennyDo sorry to hear that. Did you get your blood results the same day as your scan? Fingers crossed moving forward.

I've discovered we are fine to eat hard blue cheese so tonight I've demolished half a block of Stilton in a massive salad Grin

WhatWouldPennyDo · 06/04/2020 20:51

@roarfeckingroar had them taken a week and a half ago. Sonographer did my scan then did the calculations with all of the data there and then.

DressingGown87 · 06/04/2020 21:08

@WhatWouldPennyDo congratulations on your scan! Hope the NIPT provides you with a more accurate results.

I don’t think I’ve got any cravings yet, just eating everything 😂😂 no supernoodles in to try!

@1990shopefulftm I’m not sure about bath temperature sorry, but hope you find out, and it helps with the back pain.

1990shopefulftm · 06/04/2020 21:12

@DressingGown87 thank you

Flora20 · 06/04/2020 21:18

@1990shopefulftm You don't need to be that precise, just not boiling! Apparently the biggest issue with a bath that's on the hotter side is you getting lightheaded and fainting. A normal bath temperature that doesn't leave your skin red (just in case you like lobster baths!) is absolutely fine.

1990shopefulftm · 06/04/2020 21:23

@Flora20 I dont have the best sense of Temperature but no I wouldn't have a lobster bath for sure.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 06/04/2020 21:51

@Mc3209 Dry plain noodles was all I could eat & keep down all through my 1st trimester with my 2nd pregnancy.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 06/04/2020 22:38

@1990shopefulftm A warm bath wouldn't do any harm.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 06/04/2020 22:40

@Whatwouldpennydo Congratulations on your scan. I hope your blood results come back fine.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 07/04/2020 07:39

@FirstTimeBumps I hope your scanon the 15th goes well. Goodluck!

UpsyDaisy1234 · 07/04/2020 07:48

I guess over the next two weeks, most of us, if not all, would be having our 12weeks scan. It's nerve wracking as you don't know what to expect.

Goodluck ladies! I hope everyone's goes well, and we get to see a flood of lovely scan pictures and exciting news to share🤞

FirstTimeBumps · 07/04/2020 07:53

@WhatWouldPennyDo I thought they gave you a result based on a number of factors including bloods, nucal fold measurement and your age etc? Last time my letter came and just gave me an overall rating. Our trust does the normal screen and then if it comes back as high risk then they automatically run NIPT (not sure if other areas still charge for this). You don't even get contacted in between so all you get is an overall result either based on your combined screening or NIPT without the added worry which I think is nice.

@1990shopefulftm I used to keep baths exactly in 37 which is not very relaxing haha. I now go for the high end of 38 give you a bit more time before refilling. I got a bath thermometer duck last time and it was absolutely useless (but makes a good bath toy as has no hole for mould to get in).

@Mc3209 I had no cravings last time or this time so far. But gutted haha. I have lost my appetite both times though. Last time.i couldn't eat grilled meat for the first five months and pretty much lived off frosties and mash potatoes. This time I've gotten over the meat aversion pretty quickly but am still not hungry and I normally have a ridiculous appetite. Absolutely hate force-feeding myself.

WhatWouldPennyDo · 07/04/2020 08:16

Thanks @UpsyDaisy1234!

@FirstTimeBumps the results I got yesterday were based on my bloods, NF and age. The sonographer gave me the results (my bloods were done at 10+5) then the screening midwife explained them further, talked me through options and took blood for the NIPT. I opted for that over CVS at this point.

FirstTimeBumps · 07/04/2020 08:37

@WhatWouldPennyDo ah that makes sense thought they'd just given you a result based on bloods seperate. The NIPT is much more accurate (1 in 1000 false positive) than the combined screening (1 in 20). Hoping it all goes well for you x

Mc3209 · 07/04/2020 14:06

Girlies, how often are you managing to exercise?

By the time I am done with work and cleaning/tidying up the house I just don't have the will. I manage may be 30-45min work out twice a week, but that's about it.

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 07/04/2020 14:27

@Mc3209 a 10 minute walk most days and nothing else really, I wouldn't say it's much of a work out I m doing.

DressingGown87 · 07/04/2020 15:10

@Mc3209 I was walking through the fields everyday about 4km, took me a hour. But since I fainted, I’ve not done anything.

FirstTimeBumps · 07/04/2020 15:11

@Mc3209 does eating an entire pack of tunnocks teacakes count as exercise? Honestly I've never been big on it in general and didn't "work out" during my last pregnancy either. They advise not to take up exercise during pregnancy but to continue with what you already are doing if you wish. I wouldn't stress about it too much

Flora20 · 07/04/2020 15:40

@Mc3209 Out for a walk every day, usually out about an hour, but with my 2 year old so not going far! Probably walk a couple of miles on average. I wouldn't worry too much but then I would personally prioritise a bit of fresh air over the housework..
