@Mc3209 Dont stress about it. Until week 10 I had zero energy and did zero exercise.
In the last two weeks, DH and I have been going for a 35/40 min walk most lunchtimes (I'd say 4 or 5 days out of 7). This is largely motivated by the kilos of cheddar I've been consuming since Week 5! I've gained more than half a stone already which isnt ideal, but hey ho 🤷🏻‍♀️

DressingGown87 · 07/04/2020 16:12

I was going to ask, has anyone started to sleep on their left side yet? My midwife told me to start doing it, something about blood to the baby. Or something. But I always sleep on the right side, so struggling to switch.

roarfeckingroar · 07/04/2020 16:27

@Mc3209 still exercising every day. Walking at least 8km often more every day. Yoga 4-5 days a week. DP is threatening to put reins on me to take it a bit more easy!

Lolllyf · 07/04/2020 16:46

I walk most days. Probably managing YouTube barre class or pilates via zoom 2 - 3 times a week depending on how I am feeling. Some days I have bursts of energy and then the next day I hardly do anything except eat!

FirstTimeBumps · 07/04/2020 16:47

@DressingGown87 the advice is from either 24 or 28 weeks im not sure. Even then you'll find yourself unable to stay on just the one side. You should sleep on your side to prevent the weight of the baby and amniotic fluid compressing the Vena Cava which supplies blood to the placenta, or brings it back from or something? Sleeping on either side will prevent that but they suggest left side because apparently it gets more nutrients to placenta but honestly I spent a period of time last time sleeping on pillows because my hips ended up in agony. Even if you go to sleep on your side you may roll onto your back but you'll get nauseous and dizzy and wake up before it caused any problems for your baby x

AdventureAhead · 07/04/2020 17:02

I'm running about 3 times a week and doing 2 or 3 online classes (yoga/runner's strength and conditioning/hiit) a week. I've cut down my running mileage but that is more down to the Covid proceudres that have forced me to run on pavements rather than trails/fells and I'm not such a fan of road running! Very much hoping I can carry on running all through pregnancy but will have to see what happens.

1990shopefulftm · 07/04/2020 17:44

@DressingGown87 I happen to sleep on that side anyway, can't get comfortable on my back and I know you aren't meant to lie on bump.

DressingGown87 · 07/04/2020 17:45

@FirstTimeBumps thank you. The midwife suggested in my booking appointment that I start straight away. Don’t know if this was just to get me into the habit. Or if it’s because I have a “suspected” blood conditions, which means my body struggles get blood through the placenta, which they assume is the reason for my previous MMC. I find I’m just rolling over 😂

FirstTimeBumps · 07/04/2020 18:03

@try a bolster pillow or get your other half to scoot right behind you back to back to stop you rolling.

DressingGown87 · 07/04/2020 18:54

@firsttimebumps I’m doing this alone, so OH is definitely out the equation. But will try a large pillow. Thank you.

Mc3209 · 07/04/2020 19:09

@DressingGown87 I've started sleeping on the side rather than front/back to get used to it (there is no way I can sleep the whole night on just my left side). It's either all or nothing with me, if pregnant then the whole shebang with pregnancy pants, sleeping on the side etc all in 1st trimester 😂 Since then I realized how much I love sleeping on my back! Plenty of pillows will help to wedge you in the correct position, but maybe put a duvet on top of the mattress to help relieve pressure on your hips.

@DressingGown87 If you have a suspected blood condition, i think you should try to get into the habit right away. Sleeping on your left side will allow optimal blood flow from the inferior vena cava (IVC), which is a large vein that runs parallel to your spine on the right side. It carries blood to your heart and, in turn, to your baby. It also takes the pressure off your liver and your kidneys.

To get into the habit, try simply slipping a pillow between your legs or you can have a look at pregnancy pillows. They come in u or c shapes. I found it really comfortable. You position the pillow so that it runs along your back and then hug the front while simultaneously slipping it between your knees. It helped ease discomfort in my hips & back.

But that doesn't mean you should avoid lying on the right side. Lying on my back made me snore & dizzy and it also made my baby have hiccups. Lying on my tummy, not possible even if i tried. So i just alternate left & right. But my babies were always calmer on the left. With DC2, she would wake as soon as i lie on my right.

To be honest, but it’s mostly a matter of where you’re most comfortable.

DressingGown87 · 07/04/2020 20:04

@UpsyDaisy1234 thank you, for such a detailed response. I say suspected as my mmc (7 in total) where over 6 years ago. They said the inconclusive tests from EPAU, fertility clinic and private clinics all showed a blood condition, and that the blood flow to my womb was restricted. But they also told me I couldn’t have children. The consultant said it’s something that can change, but they can’t test my blood for this whilst I’m pregnant. So they are treating me like I do have the conditions, with the fragmin, aspirin, regular scans. And fingers crossed it all seems to be working. Week 11 now!
I will order a pregnancy pillow online, and see if I can train my body to sleep on that side again. I use to when I shared a bed with my ex, but only because he snored so I faced away from him 😂 not having him back though 🙈 I don’t think I’ve ever slept on my back.

Hope your managing to stay safe at work. X

DressingGown87 · 07/04/2020 20:07

@Mc3209 sorry missed your reply. Luckily I’ve never slept on my back. Always in a ball on my side. 🙈 Hope you manage to train your sleep! I will try wedging me in! X

Hi ladies,

I haven't posted in a while but thought I'd update how I'm going.

12 week Nuchal scan on 14th next week.

I was admitted to hospital for Hyperemesis as I hadn't eaten/drank properly in a week and lost half a stone. I was being sick upwards of 30 times a day.

Depression has kicked in especially with what's going on right now.

I've been prescribed Ondansetron & Thiamine & still struggling daily but not as bad as I was.

I had a scan at 10.5 weeks when I was in hospital to check on baby and the sonographer was awful. So uncaring & abrupt, made me feel silly and patronised. I have my photos & obviously cannot bring my OH to any scans.

I am so scared for my Nuchal scan in case something is wrong and he's not there.

What a scary time.

I've attached my photos although I'm not sure what I'm looking at lol xx

@SophieJosie95 I am sorry you had such a rough time, hun. Hold in there, one day at a time. Your scans look wonderful! I am trying to keep my mind off the upcoming scan to keep the anxiety at bay.

Is your DH at home with you? Sounds like a bit of pampering for you is in order.

SophieJosie95 · 07/04/2020 20:42

@mc3209 he's a key worker at Aldi so he's working long shifts so not always home. He's doing so well looking after me and under so much stress. He's a sweetheart xx

DressingGown87 · 07/04/2020 20:43

@SophieJosie95 big hugs and hope your ok. The first trimester can be tough, but sounds like you’ve had a nightmare. On top of everything else.

Just hang in there, and like PP said one day at a time. We share the same scan date, fingers crossed everything is ok. Amazing scan pictures. Hope your ok, look after yourself x

KitKatKit · 07/04/2020 20:53

@SophieJosie95 I'm so sorry you've been having a rough time 😩 Really hope it eases up for you.
Your photos look fantastic, congrats!

SophieJosie95 · 07/04/2020 21:37

@DressingGown87 I'll be 12+6 at my scan. It's been such a nightmare, trying to look to better days.

@KitKatKit thank you, I thought they looked weird haha xx

DressingGown87 · 07/04/2020 22:46

@SophieJosie95 hopefully the better days are to come. I will be 12+4 so very similar. Hopefully our little beans look more identifiable ☺️

1990shopefulftm · 08/04/2020 12:36

I thought I was struggling with hayfever this morning but apparently pregnancy rhinitis is a thing, ordered a safe Nasal spray to use which hopefully will help.

LadyB90 · 08/04/2020 12:42

@1990shopefulftm my hayfever has definitely started, I think the tree pollen count is really high at the moment !

1990shopefulftm · 08/04/2020 12:45

@LadyB90 that's the thing, I checked the local pollen levels and they re supposed to be low, not sure it's that accurate though.

roarfeckingroar · 08/04/2020 13:13

I'm knackered today. I cleared lots of work this morning and now I've put a fake meeting in my diary and am having a snooze for an hour, half watching come dine with me. In my defence I was working until after 8 last night.
