@1990shopefulftm oooh thanks for the heads up I'll spend the rest of the working day on that website now Grin

Just a thing to bear in mind about slings ladies, you may only use it for the first 4months. It hurts the shoulders & back as baby grows bigger & heavier. I never used mine past 3months as my babies were big. And to be honest, I only used it a couple of times with my oldest. With my youngest, I rarely used it, except for occasional short walks when the oldest has gone to school.

I use my car alot for daily tasks so i tend to use the car seat a lot more. i just lift the carseat off the car & click on to the pram...unclick & back to the car. That way you don't have to wake a sleeping baby. I used carrycots for family outings and for downstairs nap at home

Slings are not something you want to fiddle with when running late for an appointment or during school run.

I totally recommend a lightweight travel system which gives you a lot of options of which part to use at particular time. And a sling ofcourse!

Brother inlaw gifted us a bugaboo fox for my youngest which to be honest its amazing but we would never have afforded it ourselves because its really expensive. But there are alot of decent priced ones which you are equally as good, if not better. I used a silver cross surf for my oldest.

While we wait for lockdown to be lifted, and shops re-opened, why don't you rowse here on mumsnet & other forums, see what other mums recommend, have a look online, read users reviews, check ones within your budget. It'd give you an idea (or a rough idea) of what to look out for in the shops when you eventually go for test drive.

Also, i find 3wheelers easier to manoeurve.

@UpsyDaisy1234 the mamas and papas here has closed down , the nearest shop in our price range is about a 40 mile round trip that is in our price range so mostly going to relying with online deliveries.
I was thinking a sling for more doing things round the house if they didn't want to settle being put down.

DressingGown87 · 22/04/2020 17:16

My midwife just called, they want me to “pop” in tomorrow for some repeat bloods, and scan... wasn’t expecting anything until my scan on the 10th. Maybe it’s to do with my screening results... I don’t know, was very vague, but she didn’t seem worried. Said they would call me tomorrow when it’s quiet to go in, as I live nearby.

AdventureAhead · 22/04/2020 17:37

I've put on 3kg Hmm during the first 9 weeks or so I was hungry all the time but appetite seems to have returned to normal so I'm hoping that trend stops now!
I was pretty slim before and I'm keen not to gain lots of weight during pregnancy (have to say it scares me a bit). I'm a long distance runner and used to cycle commute, still running but a lot lower mileage and with home working I think I'm generally less active during the day at the moment.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 22/04/2020 17:37

@1990shopefulftm Yes, slings does come in handy for hands free while baby-cuddling/soothing.

@DressingGown87 It's probably nothing to be worried about.🤞

AdventureAhead · 22/04/2020 17:40

Welcome @dogcatdex and any other new members I've missed, we seem to have had a few peopls join over the last couple of weeks Smile
I haven't even started thinking about prams etc yet. We need some work doing on the ground floor of our house which has been delayed due to covid. Very much hoping that can be done before baby comes otherwise I'm going to have a steep set of steps to carry pram up and down!

1990shopefulftm · 22/04/2020 17:43

@DressingGown87 could be something as simple as misplaced paperwork, fingers crossed for you.

DressingGown87 · 22/04/2020 17:49

Thank you all. I’m hoping it’s nothing, thinking she knows I have MH and anxiety so surely would have told me if something was wrong. Plus when I’ve been, people who have received bad news tend to be with their partners. She said to come alone. Hoping it’s not misplaced bloods, as they lost my first lot! But then in some ways I do.

Mc3209 · 22/04/2020 19:08

@DressingGown87 Fingers crossed for you tomorrow!

Hi is there a Facebook group for this group? I had my baby last year and my (June) bus has been invaluable. My friend is due late Oct and she’d love to join if you have a Facebook group. Thanks!

AprilRose2 · 22/04/2020 20:29

Hi ladies! I’m due around 15th October with baby number 2! Looking for some mums to connect with as I found having a support network of mums going through the same things as me was so helpful last time X

DressingGown87 · 22/04/2020 21:15

@Mc3209 thank you!

@stellarfox there is a private October Facebook account set up, but I haven’t joined. It was set up by one of the other October groups, as there seems to be a few. Hope your find something for your friend.

@aprilrose2 congratulations, and welcome to the group! How old is your little one? There is a bunch of FTM and ones who already have children.

yetea · 23/04/2020 10:50

Hi, can I join? Had my scan yesterday and my date was brought forward so I'm now due 25th October. Started reading the threads in the beginning when I found out as I thought my due date would be more likely the 28th but started worrying myself so wanted to wait until I had the 12 week (or 13+3 in my case!) scan out of the way.

I'm going to book a private scan for 16 weeks as that when they start them in my area (besides the early assurance ones). This is my first pregnancy and I was gutted DH couldn't be there. Does anyone have any previous experience of a 16 week scan and whether they're likely to be able to tell us the sex?

eventhecathasapenis · 23/04/2020 11:00

@yetea yes I've had a private scan as part of my NIPT test in the last pregnancy and will be doing with this one too. They are almost certainly able to tell you the sex at that point; however, if you've booked a private scan hoping that your DH will be able to attend with you then I'm very sorry to say he won't. Private companies are following NHS procedures during lockdown, my scan and NIPT are booked in May and my email confirms DH or any other guests are not allowed to attend. I'm really sorry. You'll just have to get lots of pics and maybe ask them not to tell you the sex but write it down instead so you can reveal it with DH when you get home.

Strawberries4days · 23/04/2020 11:09

Hey
This is my first pregnancy! I'm due 23rd OctoberGrin I've been looking for a place to chat and for some advice since lock down has me away from friends and family so feeling a bit lonely with this pregnancy. It sometimes feels like I'm missing out on something but no idea what I could be missing out on at 14 weeks haha. My husband was gutted about not able to attend the scan but loved the photo and can't wait to meet him/her. We've been looking at prams now and came across a site that my SIL said was pretty decent since it's 3 in 1 and so many colours. www.bellobabies.co.uk/
Im holding off till the shops open soon because I like to see them and do a baby shop with my husband, but I might order a pram from them if nothing catches my eye x

WaveStreet · 23/04/2020 11:11

@yetea welcome and congrats 😊 i plan to do the same as you so DH can see baby. I know of several scan clinics near me that have confirmed partners from the same household can attend with you so hopefully it is the same in your area.

Mc3209 · 23/04/2020 11:22

Hello @yetea and @Strawberries4days Smile

I am not going to shop for baby stuff until after 20 week scan. And haven't even started turning spare room into nursery. We have some furniture in there which will need to come out of the room to make space for baby room stuff, but I have no clue where to actually put it! May need to reorganise the garage first.. and I am actively avoiding this task at present.

@yetea In my area unfortunately partners cannot come even to private scans. So definitely check before booking.

@Mc3209
Oh I know! It's great having a spare room until you start a family haha. Exactly the same boat, we might have to sell or give some stuff away to make room since we just got a tiny attic🙈 That would probably be sorted in the summer hopefully!

UpsyDaisy1234 · 23/04/2020 11:55

@yetea @Strawberries4days Congratulations & Welcome!

@yetea @Strawberries4days Congratulations & Welcome!

1990shopefulftm · 23/04/2020 11:57

Aldi has a few special buys online for bottles and bibs if anyone is interested. Decided to get some small bits but space wise we need to get two of the bedrooms rearranged before we have anywhere to put anything bigger.
@yetea I had a private early scan and the company we used now doesn't allow partners and will only check for gender as part of other scans they won't do it as the main reason so you might struggle to find somewhere that would let a partner be with you.

AdventureAhead · 23/04/2020 12:50

For those of you that had your 12 week scan a little while ago and opted to have the screening tests, how quickly did you get the results back?

LadyB90 · 23/04/2020 13:05

@AdventureAhead

I haven't had mine back yet and my scan was a week ago but they said 1-2 weeks. Also they said it would be quicker if anything comes back as high risk so I'm hoping no news is good news!
