@firstpregnancy20 mine had somewhat eased up until yesterday when I chucked up without warning. But it definitely feels like it's getting there although I'm still drained, and still having 1.5-3 hour naps each day 😁

UpsyDaisy1234 · 16/04/2020 13:35

@Mc3209 I'm so sorry to hear this. Unfair, I know. I feel the same about the system. Very unsupportive boss...and just everyone at work. Makes you really realize that no one cares.

I'm wondering though why they suddenly want you to come into work when you have been working from home all the while? Do you not have a right to choose if you want to or not?

It's really sad that pregnant women are placed in the vulnerable group, advised to social distance and isolate, yet the pregnant keyworkers are asked to still go to work to very place where Covid-19 resides. And nothing is more scary than the thought of not knowing how it will affect your baby and yourself as there are no knowledge of that. Absolute fear of the unknown.

I had to contact my OH dept and risk assesment was done and it was concluded that i can't continue to work in a ward filled with Covid-19 +ves & being an icu nurse, i can't work from home and there is no suitable alternative so I have been suspended on full pay for 26weeks.

I hope you can argue it out. Can you contact your OH dept and discuss your situation and choice?

Mc3209 · 16/04/2020 13:47

@UpsyDaisy1234 Initially when it was announced that pregnant women are in the vulnerable group on 16th March in my Trust all pregnant employees have been sent home irrespective of gestation. Now the Trust has updated its guidelines in line with RCOG saying that anyone less than 28 weeks gestation can 'return to work' and given a choice patient facing or not. So the managers got in touch asking me to 'return to work' (phrasing in itself baffles me, as if clinics that i've been doing including weekends wasn't work. If I knew I 'wasn't at work' then I could have put my feet up instead of helping to set up a virtual service to replace all cancelled appointments in the normal clinic).

I can choose whether to be patient or non patient facing, but formally I can't choose whether to be based at the hospital or at home whilst doing same non patient facing work. And by hospital I mean offices within clinic in the main hospital building, ie patients still along the same corridors. I will negotiate to see if I can continue to work from home, but judging by how things are going I am quite pessimistic about the prospect. Occi health will just echo RCOG guidelines and ask me to stay 2m away from other members of staff, which is impossible when sharing 1 staff toilet in a clinic (just as an example).
Will definitely ask for full risk assessment before setting foot in there.

@Firstpregnancy20 I hope you start feeling better soon.

With my dc1 it lasted 12wks, dc2 lasted 18wks and this time, just occasional nausea.

Keep hydrating. And maybe request for sickness medication from your gp.

Take good care.

Jaffas22 · 16/04/2020 14:08

@Mc3209 I totally understand your frustration. I have had to continue to go to work, in a hot desk office which staff members covering covid +ve wards are still using. So seems pointless really. I have been sent home this week after I started getting a tight chest and difficulty taking deep breaths.. took occy health 2 days to ring me back and then said I don’t qualify for testing as I only have the 1 symptom .... yet a girl went off a day after me with similar symptoms, and who is not pregnant and she’s been allowed to be tested.... it’s so worrying how they can change their guidelines, all pregnant women should be protected!

DressingGown87 · 16/04/2020 14:23

@Mc3209 so sorry the hear that! I know you will be so anxious, hopefully they have protection in place for you all. But seems odd that after all this time, and seen as you’ve have the ability to work from home that this has changed.

@Bcat999 welcome to the group

@LadyB90 congratulations on your scan! Sounds like your bean aS well behaved Atleast. And glad they managed to do your bloods. My appointment was 2/3 hours, there was such a long wait.

@Helly88 good luck for your scan tomorrow. There was a few people wearing face masks, but more not doing. The staff where all wearing them, and lots of measures where in place for hand washing and social distancing.

@jaffas22 hope your feeling better soon! Crazy that they won’t test you!

@UpsyDaisy1234 glad you’ve manage to stand your ground x

Jaffas22 · 16/04/2020 14:31

@DressingGown87 Thankyou! Just another thing to worry about isn’t it, after my scare with baby, pains and bleeding over the weekend id just got reassured and now something else! .. I’m pretty sure it isn’t covid but I guess you never know

Mc3209 · 16/04/2020 15:31

@Jaffas22 Hope you feel better soon. The whole situation is rubbish.

@UpsyDaisy1234 hoping for it to ease down... Currently I feel super exhausted all the time.. super scared about the growth
of my baby as I am not eating well...
I do have nausea tablet but that too doesn't work and I don't want to raise the dose

1990shopefulftm · 16/04/2020 17:10

The university of college London hospital has but free online antenatal class videos on YouTube.

LadyB90 · 16/04/2020 18:06

@firstpregnancy20
My sickness has been bad too so can definitely empathise! But if I can offer you some reassurance, my mum has horrendous 24/7 sickness with all of her pregnancies, she lots tons of weight (and she's about 5ft 2 and 8 stone when healthy) and all her babies were big! My brother was 9lbs and younger sister was 10lb 10! So try not to worry that baby won't grow, they zap what they need from us regardless of how sick we are 🥰

firstpregnancy20 · 16/04/2020 18:27

@LadyB90.. thanks .. this is reassuring :)

You get so many doubts in Pregnancy ... Sometimes it becomes really stressful..

And this covid situation also makes me crazy..Don't know what the future holds..

BS9790 · 16/04/2020 18:41

Everything was fine with baby at my scan this morning, thankfully. I was dated exactly the dates I thought I was, so 11+5 today, EDD 31st October.

Because of my tilted uterus she couldn't get clear images, kept sending me to wee a bit as she "couldn't see anything" - not what you want to hear! Anyway, she said my uterus made it really hard to see baby... My photos aren't clear but she did apologise for the quality... And obviously its not her fault. Bit confused though as I've had 2 early scans which picked baby up easily and clearly, when it was just a dot!

I got to see the screen for about 5 seconds, which I was hoping it would be longer, especially as the image wasn't that clear. It all felt quite rushed.

Anyway, important thing is the baby is fine!

Mc3209 · 16/04/2020 19:05

@BS9790 Very happy everything is fine on the scan! That's fantastic news ☺️

@BS9790 congratulations on your scan and glad everything went ok. Shame that you couldn’t see more, but hopefully as the baby gets bigger it gets clearer. But as you say everything was ok, with your Halloween pumpkin 🎃

@1990shopefulftm thank you; I will have a look at them classes

Next scan came through today, Sunday 10th may! So I will be 16+5

Rach167 · 16/04/2020 22:12

Hi ladies

Unfortunately for me it was bad news at my scan, my baby had no heartbeat and was showing a bit smaller than he/she should’ve been. I’m absolutely heartbroken and still in disbelief.

I wish you all all the best in your pregnancys I hope you all have the happiest healthiest babies.
And thank you all so much for the support while I was going through a worrying time. Im signing off. X

Flora20 · 17/04/2020 11:53

Had my scan this morning, baby wouldn't cooperate for measurements etc but my first was exactly the same so not surprised! It was very wriggly and waving for the camera which was nice to see even if the pictures are a bit blurry. Had my bloods etc done at the same time, saw so many more staff than you would usually which I think slightly defies the point of the restrictions... But everyone was lovely!
