@mamayoucefka transvaginal scan is nothing to worry about trust me. They do it very respectfully. My bladder was full enough to see something without a transvaginal but it was v blurry on the screen (to my ingrained eyes) so I actually asked for a transvag As well and I'm so glad I did as the picture was so clear and perfect :) made me feel much more assured that everything was ok and gave me a better picture to take home :D

LozEliza · 01/04/2020 11:35

Sorry meant to say untrained eyes got autocorrected to ingrained 🙄

AnxiousLady1 · 01/04/2020 11:36

@bluebell94 I know everyon'e experiences will be different, but I had a MMC on my last pregnancy (at 7 weeks), picked up at a private 8 week scan. I did have nausea, food aversions, sore boobs etc beforehand, so please don't worry about lack of nausea indicating anything bad. Go for the private scan and get the reassurance you need. The first 12 weeks are unsettling for all of us under normal circumstances - and that's before we are in isolation all the time and allowed to dwell on our thoughts/worries. I can honestly say I fully braced myself for bad news when I went for private scan last week (as my symptoms were basically same as last time). Scan went very well and everything was right on track with dates and heartbeat. I was 7+5. And then I started getting sick the next day! But even that nausea will still come and go. Some mornings I wake and get sick, others I'm fine. Same with the evenings. I've spoken with friends who are baffled I've even had nausea as they know so many that managed to avoid it entirely.

@mamayoucefka Don't worry about the transvaginal scan. Its not painful and cannot harm the baby. You cover your bottom half with something while they do it (so you don't feel too exposed). In the early stages I'm more happy for them to do transvaginal scan as there is better chance of them seeing things clearly and picking up a heartbeat (before 10 weeks).

AnxiousLady1 · 01/04/2020 11:43

@bluebell94 And as others have said, I can confirm that I am one of the people that sought out Mumsnet this time around (I didn't last time), so I could talk through concerns and ask questions. So I agree that Mumsnet won't give you a true indication of MMC stats. Its certainly not common at all.

bluebell94 · 01/04/2020 11:50

Thanks ladies - I know I'm being irrational, there is no need for everyone to start a thread on every healthy pregnancy they have and it's a great place for support but I'm a worrier! I feel a bit calmer now thank you. This baby is so desperately wanted and I think I'm still in a bit of shock and won't believe it until I see it!
Another small positive, window to the womb rang me yesterday and I thought they were going to cancel but they just asked to reschedule my scan from 17:45 Friday to 13:45... so 4 hours less to wait ha x

Sakura54 · 01/04/2020 12:00

@bluebell94 I also didn’t know about MMC until recently. It’s normal to feel like you do.

I didn’t have any worry until a horrible thought came to me yesterday...imagine going to the dating scan and being told that the baby had stopped growing weeks ago....I even mentioned it to DH because you just have no idea. I’ve been so chilled all these weeks, but I think because the target of 12 weeks is getting close, it’s getting a bit nerve wracking!

@Sakura54 yes that's what frightens me, it must be horrendous and I can't imagine the feeling. I guess I just thought I'd always know if something had gone wrong and it's scary to see that that's not always the case. I know they're not massively common and I'm low risk but it's a scary time - I'll be pleased when that 12 week mark comes and goes!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 01/04/2020 12:04

@bluebell94 I also had no idea about MMC before coming on here. I had a private scan at 7 weeks as I had no symptoms at all. It was fine for a few days and then I started thinking well it could have happened now. It’s never ending. I have a harmony test and scan at 10 weeks booked and then only a few weeks to wait until it’s more official, so will feel better then hopefully.

SqidgeBum · 01/04/2020 12:10

Nerves will always be there, no matter how many reassurances you get. On my first baby, I went through all the scans, the appointments, and the midwife telling me again and again how I was textbook and everything was 'perfect'. But my DD kept going quiet (even now at 16 months she sleeps a lot!) so I kept going into triage in a heap to be monitored for an hour. I did this 3 times! I worried about her til the moment she was born, and I have worried about her ever since. That's motherhood. It's one scary worry after another til the day you die, but for some crazy reason it's all worth it. You just have to sort of accept the worry and say you can do sweet nothing about it, and things will be what they are. That being said, I still convinced myself I was losing the baby 2 days ago because I felt less sick. It's easier said than done. But, it's not irrational! It's natural to worry.

Razmataz92 · 01/04/2020 12:36

Jumping on the anxious bandwagon! I’m 5+2 now and have no symptoms at all. With my daughter I had awful sickness starting at 6/7 weeks but I can’t remember what I felt like before that.

Anyone else feeling absolutely fine? I’m driving myself crazy here.

Cisco2 · 01/04/2020 14:55

Hello marking my place! Yesterday made me 8 weeks. Looking forward to reaching 12 weeks so I can relax too, comforting to know I’m not the only one feeling anxious.

I'm in London and have my my midwife appointment booked (in a few weeks) and 12 week scan in early May.

I'm still undecided where to have the baby either Kings College or Princess Royal does anyone have experience of either of these two hospitals? I'll be high risk so won't be in the birthing suite.

@Addler I also had an early scan because only yolk sack found at 6 weeks, at 7 weeks a heartbeat was found. A week makes a huge difference!

Addler · 01/04/2020 15:09

@Cisco2 That's so good to hear, all I could find was how everyone could see a heartbeat at 6 weeks and if they couldn't it wasn't a good outcome.

I'm just tying myself up into knots not knowing, my tests always have darker lines in the afternoon than in the morning so nothing is really making sense atm!

MysteriousSheep · 01/04/2020 15:12

@Macarena1980 the bloods they do at your booking appointment isn’t to check for HCG - they do a full blood count (check for anaemia), various infectious disease screen, blood group and sometime haemoglobinopathies screen as well. Sure your midwife will explain when taking the blood though.

Cisco2 · 01/04/2020 15:13

@Addler yes same for me - I couldn’t find any positive stories which is why I had to share mine. It was particularly heartbreaking when the nurse told me to not expect good news in my next scan..well she was wrong!

MysteriousSheep · 01/04/2020 15:14

Totally know what everyone means re anxiety of mmc. Although I have had two mmc (and one healthy pregnancy) in the past. So hard to relax! But all we can do is keep ourselves as healthy as possible and then wait and see!

ACatCalledLola · 01/04/2020 15:46

@Cisco2 I’m going to Princess Royal but my scans are at Kings. They’re connected so you get an enhanced 12 week scan and an extra 36 week scan at Kings whichever hospital you choose. I didn’t have my other dc at that hospital but I have heard very good things from a couple of friends. Another friend is a midwife at Princess Royal too and she has said the care is good compared to others in the area and I trust her judgment.

Cisco2 · 01/04/2020 16:04

@ACatCalledLola thanks, that’s good to know and also that makes sense about the scans at Kings

burntpinky · 01/04/2020 16:48

Christ. Just been reading a thread about what nibbles people like at drinkie poo’s o clock - was NOT a good idea as was like 50 Shades of Grey for fatties (I.e. me!!!)

littlegem84 · 01/04/2020 16:52

@burntpinky link please 😂

Hancock2020 · 01/04/2020 16:55

@burntpinky I've just woken up from a nap and read the word nibbles as nipples 🤣🤣🤣

burntpinky · 01/04/2020 17:04

@Hancock2020 😂

Hancock2020 · 01/04/2020 18:48

I've felt so terrible today, just a constant pang of nausea, headache, and so so tired. I literally just feel weak physically and mentally today 😞

ACatCalledLola · 01/04/2020 19:29

OMG @burntpinky I need all of that food. I’m so hungry the whole time. Not for actual meals though. I just want to graze.

SqidgeBum · 01/04/2020 19:33

I must say the thought of nearly any food makes me feel awful. I cant deal with the food channel, or pictures on facebook, and I am just eating because I have to and I know it makes me feel better. Its mainly cheese and bread though. DH made spag bol tonight and I just couldnt.

Has anyone been having pains in their abdomen and hips? Not bad pains, like crampy and on and off. It does make me think its all stretching but I am only 8+4 (although this is DC2 and I have a little water retention bump already). It couldnt be stretching already could it?
