Another new thread for the Nov mums to continue our discussion!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My bloody symptoms came back badly. Have had huge headache and had to go lie down from 530-8 and going to bed now. Just as I thought I was feeling myself again and able to actually contribute something to this household, erm no.

Think DH seriously fed up of doing everything whilst I lie around moaning like a sick calf

BuffaloCauliflower · 10/04/2020 21:22

Another one prodding my boobs here. Part of me knows it’s normal for symptoms to fade, even early, but it’s so hard not to worry

SqidgeBum · 10/04/2020 21:30

My DH has also been getting peeved off at me lying on the couch while he does it all and looks after DD, but in fairness to him he has said nothing, and done anything that needs doing. He was huffier when I was pregnant an DD. This time around, I think he gets how horrific the whole situation is. I have also reminded him of something someone said on this thread; being pregnant is like being poisoned, and he wouldn't like to cook dinner while poisoned. I imagine it is hard for men to get their heads around.

Anyone else waking up ridiculously early? I keep waking up at 5, cant get back to sleep, then need a nap at like 10...not really possible with a toddler! I’m still working full time and DH has our DS as he can’t work atm, so I feel like I need to take DS every chance I get to give DH a break. I’m totally exhausted.

burntpinky · 11/04/2020 10:24

@HarrietM87 yes! Though today I was awake from 230 fir 2 hours as toddler decided he wasn’t happy!!!

Just had booking over phone. Getting extra growth scans later on due to my age. Face to face with midwife at 16 weeks.

Anyone else find this: so I’m 10 weeks today and 6 weeks to 16 weeks doesn’t seem v long away. But when I was 6 weeks, thinking another 6 weeks to 12 weeks felt an age?! Bizarre

Natopp · 11/04/2020 10:31

Yep I'm waking at 4 to pee then can't get back to sleep, then feel shattered by 10 - I'm back in bed now whilst hubby plans to start the bbq up for lunch.. The idea of cooked meat right now makes me feel awful. Feel completely useless today - so much to do and I'm just sat in bed whinging about feeling sick

ParisInTheSpringtime · 11/04/2020 10:36

I wake up around 5am to go to the loo. Most of the time I can drop back off, had one bad night with bloating where I was too uncomfortable.

mrsAndeke · 11/04/2020 10:42

I have been waking at odd hours needing to wee or with trapped gas I've really found that celestial noise on you tube and with a spritz deep sleep pillow spray has really helped me settle!

Hancock2020 · 11/04/2020 11:28

See I'm kind of the opposite, I'm going to sleep at 4-5am then getting up about 3-4 hours later.
I suffered with insomnia before pregnancy and now it's just worse

Rainbowafterthestorm · 11/04/2020 12:41

Hi all,
I hope you don’t mind me joining this chat. I had a miscarriage (confirmed by multiple scans) in jan and my period never returned so I did a test in early March only to find I was (very surprisingly) pregnant again. Anyway, I had a tiny bleed on 3rd April, and rang gps in a panic who managed to get me into the epau for a scan that afternoon. The sonographer told me that the baby was ‘live’ and in the correct place this time. It turns out I am now (today) 9 weeks 5 days, which according to midwife means I am due around 9th November.
As for the sleep issues, Up to about 8 weeks I was a tired mess all day but now I tend to be useless around 8.30pm (the other half is continually having to rewatch box set series with me, as I fall asleep before he notices), wake around 5am for a wee and then just doze for a bit. It’s the actual waking up and getting motivated to do something that’s the issue..takes me until 11am until I eventually get off the sofa. Thank goodness I’m working from home for the foreseeable. :)

Happy1984 · 11/04/2020 12:43

Hi ladies! Marking my place in here! I'm 7+2 with our second baby. So excited!
I'm in Scotland and have my booking in apt at my local GP practice on 29 April, still seems face to face for now.

Workingmama1 · 11/04/2020 13:06

I had a follow up scan on Wednesday following a small bleed two weeks ago, and didn't get good news. Looks like the baby only grew a few days worth of growth so was measuring 6 weeks when it should have been 7+4 so it's highly likely I will miscarry. It was horrible to hear and I had had to go on my own and then left with no follow up conversation with a nurse of doctor about what was going to happen next apart from a letter with a scan in 2 weeks and a number to call if I start bleeding. I guess that's the fall out of less maternity care right now. A pretty shit day.
Trying to get my head around it and get practically sorted for what is likely to come (maternity pads, paracetamol etc).
But I did ring the miscarriage association helpline yesterday and spoke to a lovely lady who helped me process my emotions and understand what the next steps are likely to be. I really hope none of you have to go through this but if you do would highly recommend getting in touch with them, it really helped me.

SqidgeBum · 11/04/2020 13:12

Oh @Workingmama1 that's hard! I am so sorry xx

Rainbowafterthestorm · 11/04/2020 13:14

Hi @Happy1984, mine was meant to be at our local midwife base (face to face) but i got a phone call about 5 days before saying that they had been told to change the 8-10 week booking appointments to phone appointments. A midwife then rang me over the weekend and asked all necessary questions then. Blood and bmi will be done at the hospital when my 12 week scan happens. However, I’ve not had that letter yet. From reading the posts on here, it seems the appointments are varying from trust to trust depending on their policies.

burntpinky · 11/04/2020 13:34

@Workingmama1 so sorry to hear this and that you didn’t have great support but glad MC Assc were there to help.

I had MMC in 2017 - stopped developing around 6 weeks (even though we’d seen a heartbeat at an early scan) and had been measuring behind by over a week at that scan (sonographer was insistent I had my dates wrong but I just knew) but no other signs of MC until faint pink at just over 9 weeks then had scan which confirmed not right size and no heartbeat so had to have medical management.

So know how you are feeling and am so sorry. You will get through it I promise. It’s such an awful thing but do know that it’s natures way as baby probably wasn’t ok (know that doesn’t necessarily make it better but at least you know early rather than much later on).

Sorry, my waffling may not be helping. Just trying to say been there and it sucks and nothing anyone says is going to change that but you will get through it and you will have a baby at some point xx

Natopp · 11/04/2020 13:51

@Workingmama1 so sorry to hear this and wish you all the best. It is so hard xxx

Rainbowafterthestorm · 11/04/2020 13:58

@Workingmama1, I’m so sorry to hear this. It’s such a horrible time. The only thing that seemed to keep me fighting through was the thought of knowing it was natures way of protecting something that wasn’t right.
I got pregnant again very soon after (I’m 9+5), but I am in constant fear of every ache and twinge constantly. :(

Pcosandpregnant · 11/04/2020 14:32

@Workingmama1 I am so sorry to hear this and I truly wish you the best xx

Fouryearslater · 11/04/2020 18:57

I’m so sorry @Workingmama1

Chickoletta · 11/04/2020 22:52

Hi all,
Slightly scary times here and I’d love a hand hold please.
I’m 10+1 and think it’s all gone wrong for us.
DH is a vet and has 3 fancy ultrasound scanners that he uses for pregnancy scanning cattle etc. With both of our previous pregnancies, he has scanned me at 10 weeks and we’ve had lovely clear images of the baby and its flickering heartbeat. We tried tonight and he can’t find anything at all. Nothing. There’s one fluid filled area with a black circle inside, but it’s static and half the size that our baby should be now. No idea whether that’s even it.
I’ve always felt that we’ve been playing with fire doing this at home, but this time we had to as I’m due to send off my bloods for NIPT testing on Tues and they won’t do it without a scan picture.

Spoke to the midwife this evening who was reassuring and said that as I’ve had no bleeding or strong pain it’s unlikely that I’ve miscarried. Said that it could be hiding somewhere and DH is not experienced enough with humans to find it. He’s saying the same thing but I can tell that he doesn’t believe it.

Midwife said to take a pregnancy test in the morning. Beginning to feel like I’ve imagined the whole thing.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 11/04/2020 22:58

@Chickoletta I really hope that baby’s hiding. Thinking of you x

Chickoletta · 11/04/2020 23:25

Thank you. I’m mentally preparing myself for the worst now - if it turns out well it will be a happy surprise!

calimommy · 11/04/2020 23:35

@Chickoletta I'm sorry that does sound very worrying for you. Do you feel it could be that it didn't continue to grow? Are you going to get another scan?

Chickoletta · 11/04/2020 23:39

Not sure, really. Midwife said that she couldn’t refer me for a scan as I didn’t have any pain. Suggested that I ‘might have some pain tomorrow’! I guess that’s the way to get a scan. It’s all very odd.

I suspect that it stopped developing quite early on but she said that normally my symptoms would have settled by now, which they haven’t.

I feel quite sure that it’s a MMC, one way or another. Just hope I don’t have to have some kind of procedure as I’d have to do it alone as we can’t leave the kids with anyone at the moment.

calimommy · 12/04/2020 00:35

Yes I hope the same. When I had my mmc I was routinely scanned at 8 weeks and I knew as soon as I saw the image that it was far too small. I spontaneously miscarried a week later.
However I do hope you have some luck tomorrow (after you have asymmetrical pain and require a scan at the EPU). Still crossing my fingers for you my dear.
