Hello guys.... Am new here

ParisInTheSpringtime · 09/04/2020 08:08

@excitednerves ah I’m sorry, I read your post as though you wanted the scan but your husband wasn’t supportive of that.

excitednerves · 09/04/2020 08:15

@parisinthespringtime sorry - yes I was typing at 3am. Should probably have said he made me see sense that it’s not a risk I should be taking during a pandemic.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 09/04/2020 08:29

Someone posted this earlier on the thread (I’m so sorry I can’t remember who) and it is very helpful for reassurance:

Thank you! Very helpful!

mrsAndeke · 09/04/2020 10:29

Good morning everyone,
Is anyone else feeling completely exhausted, I've had a small breakfast and cold coffee (can't stand hot drinks atm) gone and done the food shop but now I feel exhausted and I'm back in bed having a lie down. Feel like I can't get anything done as it takes me so long. It took me two hours to do some ironing yesterday as I kept having to stop and lie down. Just feeling really crappy with the exhaustion and nausea.

bluebell94 · 09/04/2020 10:32

@mrsAndeke me too. I'm hardly doing anything but constantly knackered, went out for a slightly longer dog walk yesterday and I was ready to keel over! Also very breathless after doing anything even walking up the stairs too quickly, finding it all hard as I'm normally quite fit and active but can't bring myself to do much at all never mind any exercise at the moment. I'm hoping it eases in a few weeks!

FilthyforFirth · 09/04/2020 10:38

Yes same here. Back in bed now. The nausea and exhaustion is really bad. I am 7 weeks today and it was around this time last pregnancy that I got really bad sp just sort of waiting for symptoms to worsen...

Fouryearslater · 09/04/2020 10:52

Apologies for harping back to sickness...

But should the medication just take the edge off/reduce vomiting? Or can I go back to the GP for something else that might actually make me feel better/normal?

I’m really struggling. Was sick twice last night, and reckon I would be now if I were to go to the toilet...

SqidgeBum · 09/04/2020 12:11

I am the same with the tiredness. I cant seem to stand in one place for long, which makes doing the wash up or preparing meals for my DD hard. I have to keep sitting down. But I have managed to go on a walk every second day or so, and I have stopped puking (although the nausea is still sitting there) so I cant complain. Although I did say to my SIL I was finding it hard, and she told me getting pregnant was my fault and I should 'stop moaning' and 'get on with it'. She has never had MS. She is a joy Envy

@Fouryearslater it's horrible you are suffering so much. I have personally never taken medication for MS but from what i know from other people it seems to just take the edge off a bit. I dont think it tends to make you feel normal at all. I know that's not much help. I am sorry. Maybe someone who knows more can give more advice xx

jeleigh · 09/04/2020 12:50

Sorry if this has already been asked but has anyone had any dates for a 12 week scan yet?
I know things are going to take a little longer with everything going on but desperate to get a scan date and see if everything’s okay.
I saw the midwife a week past Monday and I’m 10 weeks today

ParisInTheSpringtime · 09/04/2020 12:54

I have had a date through - in fact I received it a few weeks ago (9+5 today) shortly after the date for 10 weeks. Chelsea and Westminster.

Sakura54 · 09/04/2020 12:56

Might be a bit random but has anyone thought about getting their tubes tied? I’m considering asking for this when I have my ELCS, as the thought of having a 3rd baby is just unthinkable. I mean I’ve never got pregnant by accident as I’ve always been on the pill/patch, but you never know!

ACatCalledLola · 09/04/2020 12:59

@Sakura54 I might make Dh get the snip. I’ve been taking charge of contraception for the last 20 years. It’s his turn.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 09/04/2020 12:59

@sakura54 hubby will be getting a vasectomy pretty soon after blob arrives

ACatCalledLola · 09/04/2020 13:00

@jeleigh I had my date through several weeks ago when I got my booking appointment. It’s at Kings. Every hospital does it differently though.

bluebell94 · 09/04/2020 13:02

@jeleigh my midwife booked my scan for me at my booking appointment Smile

SqidgeBum · 09/04/2020 13:05

@jeleigh I havent had mine through yet. I am 9+5. I have been assured its 'in the system'.

Me and DH have talked about him getting the snip, but havent decided. We dont know if we are done yet. I figure I will know when I know. DH is kind of leaving it up to me since I am the one who suffers so much to have babies. He would be happy with 2 or 3 or 5. He is pretty laid back.

FireflyGirl · 09/04/2020 13:09

@Fouryearslater I think it varies depending on your symptoms. I have constant nausea that means I just don't want to eat anything but basic carbs, the tablets let me eat more healthily, but I still feel unwell, and also make my exhaustion unbearable. I only take them if I'm really struggling, otherwise it's easier to just get on with it.

@SqidgeBum she sounds an absolute delight Hmm

excitednerves · 09/04/2020 13:16

@jeleigh I got mine along with my booking appt letter. Not sure if that happened last time or if it’s a new COVID19 efficiency strategy. Maybe call the midwife/hospital after the bank holiday?

FireflyGirl · 09/04/2020 13:17

@Sakura54 Sterilisation for a woman is a bigger, more intrusive operation than a vasectomy, which is why a lot of couples choose the latter. From anecdotal evidence, doctors seem to be less likely to support sterilisation than a vasectomy.

DH and I haven't had the chat yet, as we're not sure we're done.

Sakura54 · 09/04/2020 13:25

Oh ok so I guess it’s a normal thing to think about lol. DH offered to get the snip as it’s safer, but I told him I’m going to be cut up anyway so makes sense to have a 2 in 1 operation lol but let’s see what the midwife says! I’ve never felt broody and hate being pregnant so the thought of it happening by accident when I’m old is petrifying lol!

@excitednerves @SqidgeBum @bluebell94 @ACatCalledLola @ParisInTheSpringtime
Thanks ladies. I’ll hold out until after the bank holiday to ring and find out what’s happening.
I had my booking app over the phone and only saw my midwife to get my bloods.
The wait is agonising!

HarrietM87 · 09/04/2020 13:41

@jeleigh my midwife emailed me through my scan date immediately after my booking appt (which was done over the phone). And then I had a couple of days of stress because they had booked it in too late! The important thing to know is that it has to be done between 10 and 13+6 weeks for the screening tests to be accurate (as accurate as they can be) so do chase it up if you don’t get a date soon. I’ll be 13 weeks exactly when I have mine.

MrsAJKA · 09/04/2020 13:42

I had my booking appointment today over the phone (9weeks today - First Pregnancy). I will be getting my bloods/urine on Saturday at the hospital where the midwife will let me know my dating scan appointment. She also gave me a predicted due date 12th November! Grin
