@FilthyforFirth just wanted to join in as I have colitis too so good to hear from someone else in similar position. this is my first baby!

ACatCalledLola · 08/04/2020 13:51

Lovely news both @MissSparkles81and @burntpinky!

FilthyforFirth · 08/04/2020 14:02

Hi @Pumpkin108 congrats! This is my 2nd baby. I had a pretty bad flare up first time round and was able to keep taking my meds to get it under control. The flare up lasted maybe 2-3 weeks. I was then fine the rest of the pregnancy.

HarrietM87 · 08/04/2020 14:04

Congrats @MissSparkles81 and @burntpinky!

My midwife emailed me back last night saying she would keep trying for an earlier date for me but it’s ok if I have the scan after 14 weeks as they can just do the quadruple test instead. I looked this up and it only tests for downs not Edwards or Pataus AND is less accurate for Downs than the combined test...I mean wtf. I referred to this hospital when I was 6 weeks pregnant. Surely they need to be scanning me before 14 weeks or referring me elsewhere?! Waiting to hear back from her today but think I’m going to have to get this done privately. Feel completely let down.

burntpinky · 08/04/2020 14:09

@HarrietM87 I would feel let down too. I’m guessing you’ve emailed back to point this out to them? It’s not acceptable really, even in these circunstancss. I know it’s hassle and cost getting it privately and you shouldn’t have to but if it gives you peace of mind I’d do it.

HarrietM87 · 08/04/2020 14:12

Yes @burntpinky I replied and said that. Also said that after 4mcs I could really do without this stress so hoping that they take pity on me. It seems to be down to the Fetal Medical Unit (the scanning team I guess) so it’s not in my midwife’s control. Have to hope she can persuade them for me.

Wise0wl · 08/04/2020 14:14

Great news @MissSparkles81 and @burntpinky!

@HarrietM87 i would feel let down too, and would also go privately in your situation. Since the whole wrong hospital situation my booking in appt is when I’m 10+4, so who knows when I’ll eventually have my scan 🤷‍♀️

tinnitusqueen · 08/04/2020 14:53

Hiya I'm 9 weeks+1 in Cheshire hoping for my rainbow baby x

futuredreams · 08/04/2020 15:31

@HarrietM87 I feel the same as you at the moment. I’ve had three previous miscarriages and I’ve just been told I won’t be seen now until I’m 14 weeks when I was promised weekly scans if I wanted but now I can’t. It’s not selfishness, it’s for my mental health. I’m still working every day even though at home and already worrying. Don’t even have the letter with a date of appointment yet so it’ll probably be after 14 weeks at this rate and I kind of get treated like I know what I’m doing because I’ve been pregnant three times but I haven’t had any babies so I’m clueless. Maybe this is what it’s like for everyone though. Haven’t even had a chat with my GP about being pregnant because she wouldn’t see me unless I got a viable scan ha then this all kicked off. You couldn’t make it up

Audio30 · 08/04/2020 19:07

Hi everyone, I went for an early scan today and if I'm completely honest I was expecting the worst (just gut feeling). Got quite the surprise when they asked me if twins run in my family (they don't)!! So it turns out we have 2 healthy babies measuring just over 7 weeks. Ecstatic and terrified in equal measure!

@Pcosandpregnant I have pcos too so try and stay positive! ☺️

Pink15 · 08/04/2020 19:21

@Audio30 wow congratulations, lovely news!! There seems to have been a few twins on this post already!

Fouryearslater · 08/04/2020 19:24

Just went for a walk and smelt people having BBQs 🤢🤢🤢

Do they have no consideration?! 😂

HarrietM87 · 08/04/2020 19:25

Got my scan moved! A week earlier so I’ll be 13 weeks. Thank goodness for that!

Congrats @Audio30!

Hancock2020 · 08/04/2020 19:25

Does anyone else have a sore throat? Nothing else like fever or anything but just a sore through with the occasional tickly cough? Not sure whether it could just be a bi product of nausea?

Pink15 · 08/04/2020 19:29

@HarrietM87 yay pleased for you xx

@Hancock2020 hey are you okay? I was thinking you'd be quiet lately x

Hancock2020 · 08/04/2020 19:33

@Pink15 yeah I'm fine just had a few days in bed this week with nausea and tiredness my insomnia is really bad, although the past 2 days I've felt much better (which is just as concerning) apart from this sore throat and little cough.

SqidgeBum · 08/04/2020 19:34

@HarrietM87 fantastic news! I am so happy for you that it has been moved.

@Audio30 that's amazing! And terrifying at the same time. But still amazing! Congratulations xx

Pink15 · 08/04/2020 20:22

@Hancock2020 sorry to hear that. Could it be hay fever?

Pcosandpregnant · 08/04/2020 20:30

@Audio30 wow congratulations! That’s amazing. Thank you so much for your reply. I am trying my hardest to stay positive I only found out yesterday. I don’t know how I didn’t know because the thought of meat, chocolate, ice cream and sweets makes me want to throw up. I thought I was ill Grin

Hancock2020 · 08/04/2020 20:42

@Pink15 I've never suffered from hayfever, but I did read somewhere that you can get it during pregnancy (I think something like gestational hayfever 🤷‍♀️)
So maybe, I have been outside in the garden all day 🤔

excitednerves · 09/04/2020 03:16

This is my second pregnancy but OMG I totally forgot the worry and anxiety before the 12 week scan. Lying awake thinking about things going wrong. I have no bleeding and no pain, so absolutely no reason to worry but just wish there was a way to reassure myself.

DH doesn’t want me to do a private scan in current conditions and he has a very “what will me will be” attitude.

How is everyone coping with this?

burntpinky · 09/04/2020 06:59

@HarrietM87 great news!

MissSparkles81 · 09/04/2020 07:03

Thank you ladies Flowers

@Audio30 congratulations on twins. What lovely news 🥰

ParisInTheSpringtime · 09/04/2020 07:05

@excitednerves do you want an early scan? It’s your choice.

I had an awful night. Woke up around 3am for my now nightly loo trip. But I was so bloated and uncomfortable it took me over an hour to get back to sleep 😢 what can we safely take for bloating?

excitednerves · 09/04/2020 07:23

@parisinthespringtime - under normal circumstances, I probably would, but in the middle of a pandemic, it’s definitely not necessary travel/exposure. I’d find it hard to justify to myself, I’m not even going to the supermarket anymore. I just find it hard to have his same relaxed attitude.

I think it’s harder that we don’t have mini-events like going out, meeting friends etc to break down the wait until the scan. 5 weeks to go... feels like forever!
