Booking being done over phone Saturday morning. Iona test next Thursday. They did say that it may take longer than usual for results. Apparently I’m on the waiting list for my 12 week scan so should hear soon. All starting to feel very real!

Hancock2020 · 09/04/2020 14:14

Only 4 sleeps till my private scan! 😃🥳

Hancock2020 · 09/04/2020 14:15

Well, I say sleeps, 4 lay there awake all nights till my scan 🤣🤣

burntpinky · 09/04/2020 14:19

@Fouryearslater I am taking medication and find it does take the edge off but I still feel sick all day and the tablets also make me more tired. I’ve decided on balance it’s worth it at present. Just had 2 hours sat in garden and that did make me feel a fair bit better, not sure if that was the fresh air

XCarebearX · 09/04/2020 14:21

Hi everyone, I am new here too. I am currently 8+ 2 (first pregnancy) and due mid November. I’m having my booking appointment over the phone later this week but my midwife has said she will need to come to my house to do my bloods. Has anyone else had to do this? I am in Scotland. Also has anyone had to go to their 12 week scan alone? I have read that some people weren’t allowed their partner in with them. Sorry if these questions have already been asked 🙈

HarrietM87 · 09/04/2020 14:31

@XCarebearX I have to go alone to my 12 week scan. I would have probably had to do that anyway in the current situation as no one else to look after our son! My bloods/urine will be done at the 12 week scan.

Fouryearslater · 09/04/2020 14:38

Thanks everyone. I’ve had the GP change the tablets (I can’t afford not to function with a three year old and full time work). Sickness seems to have gone, yippee! But I feel wiped and spaced out 🙄 need to try some food I think.

ACatCalledLola · 09/04/2020 14:59

@XCarebearX I also have to go to my scan alone. I don’t have any childcare either so Dh wouldn’t be able to come even if he was allowed.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 09/04/2020 15:04

I'm fully expecting to have to go to my scan alone. I don’t mind for me, but this is hubby’s first child, and will be his only child (unless he divorces me 😂) so he will be missing out. I think this is v sad for him.

excitednerves · 09/04/2020 15:31

@XCarebearX I’ll be going to my scan alone for the same reason as @HarrietM87, DH will be looking after our son. I honestly don’t mind though.

wannabebump · 09/04/2020 15:32

@XCarebearX I'm also in Scotland - I've to go to my scan alone and bloods will be done then too. I did have a face to face booking in appointment where my urine was checked, but the midwife couldn't get blood out my arm 🙁 x

Natopp · 09/04/2020 15:38

Hello just played catch up as have been busy! Thanks for all the replies regarding weighing in at booking appt. I had my appt yesterday and all was well and really not sure why I was worried in first place. My midwife is lovely and so easy to talk to so felt no pressure or embarrassment talking about weight.
Had my bloods done, urine test etc. Then did the verbal bits over phone last night. All went swimmingly and feel happier and like things are actually starting to happen!! Will know my scan date in a few days. Hope everyone is well xx

Lx2020 · 09/04/2020 15:43

@XCarebearX Scotland here too. I had my booking in app recently at the hospital and bloods etc were done. Was told i will need to go to 12 week scan alone but they are allowing a video to be taken. Not the same but at least it's still something.

burntpinky · 09/04/2020 15:52

Scan alone for me too and was alone yesterday when having the specialists appointment to re-scan after a “bad” scan at 7 weeks. I was sad DH wasn’t there - he had to stay in the car with DC

XCarebearX · 09/04/2020 15:53

Thank you everyone! :-) I am a bit gutted for my hubby but totally understand the reasons why they have taken these measures. I will ask my midwife about taking a video though, that would be nice!

calimommy · 09/04/2020 15:54

I have IBS but manage it through diet. However for the last week I've had the worst pain in my abdomen and lower back. The pain in my abdomen is like the sensation you get when you have diarrhoea, a sort of nauseated turning over of my tummy/bowel. It doesn't feel central or like period like cramps so I'm reassured enough about that although the pain which goes through to my lower back sometimes alarms me re pregnancy. It feels like my bowel is inflamed tbh. No diarrhoea though. Standing makes it worse and sitting down does relieve the pain a bit although I have it in bed too. I can't rest very much because I have three DC. I'm also nauseated from pregnancy so overall I'm not feeling good at all. I don't remember this from any of my other pregnancies. If it was a normal non-covid time I'd probably ring my GP but I don't want to bother them unnecessarily. Anyone find their chronic digestive problems worsened? I'm only 6 weeks so very early.

SqidgeBum · 09/04/2020 16:28

@calimommy I dont have chronic digestive issues normally, but week 6 and 7 I was in an awful state digestive wise. It felt like I had fire running through me, awful discomfort (not exactly pain), and I was huge with bloating. I felt horrendous. I just drank water and tried eating simply (which I mostly vomited up). My sister is a nurse so I rang her and she said there was nothing I could do, i just had to wait til it passed. It seems like that for pretty much every bit of pregnancy misery we face.

calimommy · 09/04/2020 16:33

@SqidgeBum yeah I've been eating v plain food, which I would normally if I felt badly, but it doesn't normally last this long. Anyho, shall persevere as we have no other option! I might try paracetamol as it would reduce inflammation, so if it helps I'll know there was inflammation and if it doesn't then 🤷‍♀️ Pregnancy eh who would do it!

JJxo · 09/04/2020 17:13

Hi everyone,

Haven’t been on in a while! I had my booking in 2 weeks ago, got my bloods done last week. Midwife told me to ring the hospital about 12-week scan if I didn’t get a letter by weds this week. Rang today and was told not to chase up unless I don’t get a letter before 12 weeks. Hope you’re all well x

Anon87 · 09/04/2020 18:03

@calimommy I'm suffering today too if it's any consolation. I 100% know it's food related rather than anything else , quite annoyed with myself. I've tried to lay in bed this afternoon but there's no real comfy positing and the pains to the lower right are taking my breath away.
Hope you're feeling better soon x

calimommy · 09/04/2020 18:12

@Anon87 I took paracetamol and I have to say I'm feeling a lot better. Just nauseated now, which is fine. I'll see how long it lasts. Hopefully, if it's inflammation, the one or two doses will bring it down.

Pink15 · 09/04/2020 18:30

I don't think paracetamol reduces inflammation, only like ibuprofen

calimommy · 09/04/2020 20:12

Paracetamol is an anti inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic.

SqidgeBum · 09/04/2020 21:04

Just so people know, I have had previous medical advice that while pregnant you shouldnt take ibuprofen. As it thins your blood it can cause issues with the placenta. Paracetamol is fine to take though.

BeMorePacific · 09/04/2020 21:29

@XCarebearX I’m under Forth Valley care. I had my booking app face to face in the hospital, and I will be going to the scan alone.
It’s a shame, and my OH would love to be there. But we know the fewer people in hospitals the more lives will be saved. Take care xx
