Another new thread for the Nov mums to continue our discussion!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SqidgeBum · 07/04/2020 21:53

I think I got 3. I just sent pics to the family and we kept them for ourselves.

HarrietM87 · 07/04/2020 22:02

I think I got 2 or 3. I’ve heard some places are allowing you to video some of the scan if your partner can’t be there - hope they let me do this as he would love to see that. I don’t think my last pregnancy felt real to him until he saw our baby on the scan.

BelieveItCanHappen · 07/04/2020 22:10

Random question but I wanted to know if any of you are showing yet? I'm 10 weeks and with other pregnancies I remember in the mornings when I needed the toilet a lot, I could see and feel my uterus. I'm guessing because it rises when our bladder is full. And that hasn't happened yet. Anyone else experiencing this? x

4thTimer · 07/04/2020 22:17

The app has been rolling out since last year so lots of areas will be starting to use it. I just hope it doesn't glitch up......

WildflowerPetals · 07/04/2020 22:18

@ACatCalledLola @SqidgeBum @HarrietM87 Thank you for your replies! I might make copies of them because I was wanting to use the scan picture as part of the announcement for our parents 😊 x

WildflowerPetals · 07/04/2020 22:19

@HarrietM87 If DH isn’t allowed in for the scan I’m hoping they’ll let me FaceTime him 🤞🏼 x

4thTimer · 07/04/2020 22:24

Hi everyone, I'm due number 4 around the start of November. Reading questions and thinking, hey... I have an answer to that! So thought I should just join the forum.

LunchBoxPolice · 07/04/2020 22:37

My health board in South Wales have put a stop to video calling from scans now.

BeMorePacific · 07/04/2020 22:54

@Pink15 I didn’t go for a chair with my first little one, and won’t this time either. He was sleeping in my room for the 1st 7m, so I just Breastfed him in bed.
Once he was in his own room I’d just sit in the floor and lean against the cot.
I was lucky he was a good sleeper though, so didn’t have many night feeds past 6months xx

SqidgeBum · 08/04/2020 08:11

I have a vague memory of having to pay for my scan pictures, like £5 for 3 or something. Has anyone else had to do that? Or have I just made something up in my brain?

ACatCalledLola · 08/04/2020 08:40

@SqidgeBum I think it depends on the trust. I had to pay first time but not the second (different hospitals). This time they’ve told me to bring a camera to take pictures of the screen (yet another hospital).

FilthyforFirth · 08/04/2020 08:46

Morning, I am a bit concerned. I have a shooting pain on my left hand side which has been coming and going for a few hours. No bleeding or spotting but it has me worried. Am 6+6. Normal growing pains?

SqidgeBum · 08/04/2020 08:58

@FilthyforFirth (brilliant name by the way) I have been getting sharp pains like that since 6 weeks, but they feel like muscles, like when you strain your neck too far. Sharp doesnt always mean bad. Maybe keep an eye on it, if it gets worse, or if it's just muscles when you move a certain way. Ring your midwife if you are concerned.

seventhrow · 08/04/2020 09:03

@filthyforfirth this might sound a bit simple but it could be gas?? I occasionally have terrible terrible pains and it is just my digestive system... it gets a bit confused I think at the changing abdominal layout. A friend of mine went into A&E once thinking it was early labour and it turned out to be gas - she was so embarrassed. The NHS website says that if the pain is continuous or has other symptoms to call your GP / midwife www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/stomach-pain-abdominal-cramp-pregnant/
Hope you feel better soon whatever it is! I’ve had loads of weird cramps and pains so far and am 9 weeks along.

FilthyforFirth · 08/04/2020 09:11

Thank you both, it is a bit similar to muscle pain, so perhaps it is that. I still have my other symptoms, sore boobs, extreme nausea and exhaustion. I will see how it goes for the next few hours and ring GP if worse.

I am so worried about this pregnancy, it has been a long time coming and every little thing worries me. Not sure I was this anxious last time

FilthyforFirth · 08/04/2020 09:13

@seventhrow I suffer from colitis and am having a flare up so it could well be gas, I hadnt thought of that. Thank you.

seventhrow · 08/04/2020 09:19

@filthyforfirth ok cool!! Hopefully that’s what it is! I occasionally get IBS which is why I’m a bit vulnerable to gas issues. A couple of weeks ago I woke up in so much pain I was pretty much crying... got out of bed and then couldn’t lift my legs to get back in again without yelling. Was quite scary at 4am but it was absolutely nothing.

ParisInTheSpringtime · 08/04/2020 09:23

@FilthyforFirth I had that around the same time. I was also worried as it was only on one side, but everything was fine.

Is anyone having hip aches? I’ve been trying to get used to sleeping on my side. I know it’s not an issue yet, but as I usually sleep on my back I thought I should try and get used to it. But I am waking up with a very sore hip each time.

FilthyforFirth · 08/04/2020 09:29

@seventhrow tummy issues are the worst aren't they? I am always shocked at actually just how painful trapped gas can be. I had s bad flare up with my first pregnancy and whilst this one isnt as bad, it is certainly another one.

No hip ache yet but I am having trouble finding a comfortable position to sleep in. Have you tried putting a pillow between your knees?

SqidgeBum · 08/04/2020 09:38

I second the gas thing! I remember on my first it got so bad at one point, we were in Jersey on holidays, I was 7 months, and I thought I was going into labour at 3am one morning! The pain was unreal. As our bodies change, the movement of organs inside is bound to cause chaos. The baby is tiny, but the uterus is huge! At 8 weeks it's the size of an orange. So it's normal to have pains and aches and trapped gas. It was only after I had DD and I remember actually feeling my organs moving back into place I realised how extreme the physical changes in there must be.

HarrietM87 · 08/04/2020 09:41

@ParisInTheSpringtime if you struggle to sleep on your side a pregnancy pillow can really help. I didn’t get one until I was about 30 weeks last time but wish I’d had it earlier! You kind of cuddle into it and it keeps you on your side. It’s amazing once you have a bump as it feels really supportive.

canueve · 08/04/2020 10:22

@FilthyforFirth I had the same at the exact same time as you , around 6 weeks, it would come and go but i did an early scan and everything was ok, just muscles stretching Smile

@ParisInTheSpringtime I move a lot overnight, but yes, I think it's just getting used to all your weight on one side.

MissSparkles81 · 08/04/2020 13:14

Afternoon ladies. Im so happy to report that everything is fine 🥰 No obvious reason for the bleed and measuring slightly ahead at 8+1

She said there was a wee pocket of blood still sitting there so I might have more spotting but she was happy that everything looked ok.

Only worrying thing was I had a temp of 38 even though I feel completely fine so just spoke to my manager who is going to arrange testing for me through occupational health at work.

So relieved and thank you for the well wishesFlowers

burntpinky · 08/04/2020 13:34

Sorry to those who have already seen my post on the FB group but we saw consultant today and everything fine! Measuring ahead slightly by a day, heartbeat and fine.

He said there is ossibly a bleed there but he thinks it’s fine and will probably be re-absorbed. He seemed cross with the ultrasound place!

I actually saw 2 consultants as well and they both said the same. Such a bloody relief!!!

Pcosandpregnant · 08/04/2020 13:40

Hello everyone. I’m around 6/7 weeks I found out yesterday. I am terrified! I also have PCOS so I’m so scared that that will be a problem. Any advice would be great! Thank you so much and I hope you are all okay.
