Another new thread for the Nov mums to continue our discussion!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@Addler I had pink/red bleeding for a week up until yesterday, had a scan this morning and baby was fine - measuring 9 weeks exactly, which is what I thought, and heartbeat flickering away. I also had some spotting around this time with my first, and he’s now a healthy, strong-willed 2 year old! So try not to worry too much, but you could always give your EPU a call and see what they say - they might get you in for a scan.

AnxiousLady1 · 03/04/2020 13:19

@bluebell94 Best of luck with your scan xx

Natopp · 03/04/2020 13:24

Is anyone suffering from an unquenchable thirst!? I can't seem to drink enough water and it's worrying me. I have a really dry mouth and all I'm consuming is water

Natopp · 03/04/2020 13:25

@bluebell94 good luck!! Tell us all about it
:)

HarrietM87 · 03/04/2020 14:09

@Sakura54 it’s a sliding scale of risk as you get older, there’s no cliff edge at 35. If you look at this calculator, for downs your risk at 30 is 1:940, at 33 it’s 1:570, at 35 it’s 1:350 etc. Obviously those are all still really low risk and nothing to panic about! I’m just trying to work out if it’s worth spending £400 to get a
more conclusive result than the NHS screening at this point.

rachelrainbow · 03/04/2020 14:39

Hi all. I’m due Nov 2nd! I had a scan this morning due to some bleeding and saw a little 3cm baby wriggling around measuring perfectly for 9 weeks 5 days 😍. Actually starting to believe that this is gonna happen now. My booking in has been cancelled - what a strange time! Xx

Sakura54 · 03/04/2020 14:44

@HarrietM87 Omg it sure does jump up by a lot, every single year you get older.

Thanks so much everyone, feel like a weight has been lifted!!! Saw a little bean with a very strong heartbeat. Dated 5 days behind where I thought (had no idea really due to irregular cycles) so due date for now is 21st nov x

Pink15 · 03/04/2020 14:51

@bluebell94 so happy for you! You're just one of the very very lucky women then with no symptoms 🥳🥳

HarrietM87 · 03/04/2020 14:57

Congrats @bluebell94 and @rachelrainbow!

Fouryearslater · 03/04/2020 15:04

I gave in and asked the GP for some anti sickness drugs. Fingers crossed they work.m because I can’t face another 14 weeks of this self contained with a 3 year old.

Natopp · 03/04/2020 15:19

@bluebell94 @rachelrainbow lovely news!!

Snowwhite2020 · 03/04/2020 15:25

Yay for the happy baby scans! Congrats xx

burntpinky · 03/04/2020 16:38

Great news re baby scans!

ACatCalledLola · 03/04/2020 16:41

Brilliant news about the scans @bluebell94 and @rachelrainbow.
@HarrietM87 that graph is quite scary. I‘ll be 38 by the time baby’s here and that’s 1:150. I’ll get a harmony at the hospital if my risk is greater than 1:500 though and they do an enhanced scan at 12 weeks so I hope they’ll pick anything up.
Still feeling so sick. I queued for 30 minutes to get into Waitrose today so I could get some boiled sweets amongst other things and they didn’t have a single packet. I found those ice creams that @burntpinky recommended though. Just got to hide them from DH or they’ll all disappear!

HarrietM87 · 03/04/2020 16:49

Sorry @ACatCalledLola (and everyone) - I didn’t mean to freak anyone out - 1:150 is still only a 0.7% chance, or to put it another way the chance of not having a baby with DS is 99.3%. Hospitals seem to vary with the extra testing they do - not sure that mine ever refers to the harmony test no matter what the risk. But I think I might wait and see what it is at 12 weeks and decide from there.

ACatCalledLola · 03/04/2020 16:59

It’s ok @HarrietM87 I know the risk is still tiny. The increased risk is one of the reasons I chose the hospital that I did though and if I’m still not happy I will pay for additional testing.

burntpinky · 03/04/2020 17:40

@HarrietM87 Mine is 1:70 (what does that equate to)?

@ACatCalledLola - really hope you like them, if not you can tell me off!!!

Still feeling rotten and sick but now have re-scan appointment for 0945 Weds so only a few more days. I just hope all is ok. I am 9 weeks tomorrow and like others, can’t face thought of a) TTC again (and all that brings) and b) going through the first trimester sickness/worry etc again. This HAS to work. Also thought I’d be ok with another loss having been through it before, but given current situation/lockdown I think it might tip me over the edge and back into a place I’ve been before I’d rather not be.

Also worried about my job. My line manager is female and about to have her third and has been great/totally gets it, but she is now on maternity so am not contacting her. I messaged my big boss (not my direct line manager but effectively what he says goes) to update him on situation and to say I am going to try to work next week (been signed off 3 weeks) and he read it ages ago but no reply (not like him). I know he has a lot of respect for me in what I do as o used to be a worthy adversary but now I’m an overhead after changing role to have a better life balance and I’m worried they might lay me off. We could survive on DH’s wage alone but it would be tough and no house move/holidays etc. I know that’s not as bad as some people have it at the moment and for that I’m extremely grateful but it’s just another worry I don’t need.

Sorry for the moaning. I can’t moan in real life, esp not to my friends as they all kept their high flying positions when I decided to take a step back so just don’t get it

SqidgeBum · 03/04/2020 18:26

@burntpinky your job CANNOT fire you because of your pregnancy. That's illegal. He cant lay you off because of the time you take off as a result of pregnancy, nor can he take any negative action towards you for it. I have had problems with this before (I was denied an automatic pay rise because I was on maternity leave and my boss said I should have come back after 16 weeks to be entitled to it). Stick the equality act under their nose if they try anything. With the wording in it about discrimination against women because of pregnancy or birth, they will back of fast.

Hancock2020 · 03/04/2020 18:36

Can we talk bumps? Is it weird that I already have a bump at 6+3? And quite a sizeable one at that?

Hancock2020 · 03/04/2020 18:36

Sorry 6+4

Fouryearslater · 03/04/2020 18:43

Bloating @Hancock2020 I could pass as 6 months currently! It should shrink again before growing a real bump

canueve · 03/04/2020 18:52

so happy for you both
@rachelrainbow
@bluebell94 how far along are you now? 6+9?

my due date is 17 nov, but I hear your first is always late so i am expecting it to be 20/21 nov

carrot88 · 03/04/2020 18:59

@natopp oh my god yes to the thirst thing - feel like my like one is literally sucking the moisture out of me! Feel like I've drunk my own body weight in water so far today and still feel parched!!
