Do they help @Pink15? Xx

Addler · 03/04/2020 00:47

I've just been to the loo and there was a pink tinge when I wiped. That combined with my symptoms all disappearing makes me think the worst. Has anyone had this and been fine? I'm trying so hard not to panic, but I can't bear it.

Novembermummy · 03/04/2020 02:12

Hi guys new mummy to be here. Excited as we had been trying for a baby for 6 months. I am due 21st of November. Although haven't been to doctors or seen midwife yet. I dont know who to call when I have concerns. Anyway my question is that I am getting a lot of groin pain and tingling sensation in my leg as well as headache is this something I should be concerned of?

Pink15 · 03/04/2020 08:18

@Snowwhite2020 yes I think they take the edge off - no harm in trying really so I'd recommend :)

@Addler I don't know much about it but from what I've read on here as long as no pain or clots the midwifes aren't super concerned. Having said that I'd probably ring your EPU as they may be able to scan you today :) good luck xx

Pink15 · 03/04/2020 08:18

@Novembermummy my midwife told be headaches are actually more common than vomiting in pregnancy! Now sure about the leg though - may be worth calling your GP?

burntpinky · 03/04/2020 09:32

I know it’s not their fault and everyone is in same boat but this whole covid-19 saga has turned pregnancy into an even more stressful time.

I just rang specialists as hadn’t heard about my re-scan and had been told would likely be Monday 6th but they’d call me much closer to time. Haven’t heard anything further but been hanging on in true limpet style. Woman I spoke to doesn’t know anything about it and needs to speak to consultant and only 2 of them in office. So might not be able to get back to me today.

Of course I am not mad at her, she’s stuck like the rest of us but FFS, I’ve been hanging on in terror since Mother’s Day, just about getting to find out if everything is ok and now facing another wait of indeterminate length.

I’m just a tearful, sick mess.

SqidgeBum · 03/04/2020 09:47

Oh @burntpinky you poor thing. You are right that the hard part is it isnt anyones fault, but I think care is slipping down to the bare basics and scans that would have been done for reassurance just isnt on their priority list (despite it being so important to us). I hope you get it soon!

burntpinky · 03/04/2020 09:54

@SqidgeBum - yes abd I cant be mad at them for that as of course there are higher priorities but we really need to know if this baby is ok as if not, I’d rather get on with a termination now (don’t mean that to sound awful but I’m 41.5 so every week counts in terms of fertility/chances).

We want the Iona test for that reason too - maybe I just bite the bullet and book that (though have to wait until 14th anyway as I’m not 10 weeks until next sat then it’s easter).

The whole thing just sucks. Why did some dickhead have to go and eat a bloody bat?!

HarrietM87 · 03/04/2020 10:07

@Addler I think if it was just a pink tinge I wouldn’t worry. A little bit of spotting like that is really common. You should only worry if you get heavy bleeding, especially if you also have severe cramps. When I had my son I had brown spotting for a few days that then turned red and bad cramps and all was well. Just keep an eye on it and don’t stress!

Natopp · 03/04/2020 10:19

Hey lovelies hope you're all well! Just playing catch up.
I was meant to have my first appointment today with the midwife and it was cancelled last minute and moved to next Wednesday. Feeling a bit stressed and anticipating this is what it's going to be like throughout the whole pregnancy, with scans moving & maybe not having things done at the right time. It's important to my DH and I to have certain checks done for certain things.
Just throwing myself a pity party; however, I'm more than aware there are worse issues going on than me not seeing my midwife today. This situation we are all in is just starting to take its toll on me, this wasn't what I had planned. Anyway! Plans don't always work out the way you thought so moving on. Just wanted to rant Grin at least it's Friday!! Xx

canueve · 03/04/2020 10:59

Had my midwife appt today and to be honest it was quite basic and boring, done blood tests and scan will be between 10-11 weeks, so 2/3 weeks wait only to make sure again all is going well.

SqidgeBum · 03/04/2020 11:16

Honestly @canueve, all of them will be boring bar the scans. Going to the midwife became a chore for me on DC1.

Natopp · 03/04/2020 11:31

Yeh I've heard they can be boring!! I just built myself up with excitement for today and then when it didn't happen I deflated. I just wanted to get it over and done with so I could find out my scan date.

HarrietM87 · 03/04/2020 11:40

The later ones where they listen to the heartbeat are nice (post 20 weeks in my hospital), but they’re just routine really. I’m looking forward to getting my scan date too.

Is anyone thinking about getting the NIPT/harmony test? I’m unsure whether to get it at 10 weeks (cheaper), or wait and see what my results are from the NHS screening at 12 weeks. I’m 33 so I guess medium risk age wise?

LozEliza · 03/04/2020 11:47

@Pink15 @Snowwhite2020 how are you finding the anti nausea bands? Mines really bad today. I feel so on the edge anything is going to make me vomit. I've only actually been sick twice both during the night when my stomachs quite empty which I find weird. Then during the day I just feel like crap.

SqidgeBum · 03/04/2020 11:47

I am just doing everything by the NHS. But I am 29, on DC2, no previous issues or health problems, and even if the tests came back positive for downs I wouldn't have a termination. That's just me though.

Snowwhite2020 · 03/04/2020 11:57

I’m not sure yet @LozEliza as I only ordered mine last night. Willing to give anything a try! Woke up this morning and my first thought was: oh yay, a whole day of feeling absolutely terrible ahead... 🤦🏻‍♀️ Xx

HarrietM87 · 03/04/2020 12:07

@Squidgebum your health and the fact you’ve had another child isn’t relevant as these are random genetic mutations (so age is a factor). And they test for other conditions as well as Downs - Edwards and Pataus - which are incompatible with life. I’m not sure how much more reliable the private tests are in detecting those than the NHS though - will have to look into it as they’re pretty expensive!

ParisInTheSpringtime · 03/04/2020 12:12

@HarrietM87 I’m having the harmony test at 10 weeks, but I am a bit older than you at 37. I would rather know sooner than later, and willing to throw money at it.

Natopp · 03/04/2020 12:14

I'm thinking about the harmony test. I'm 28 and this will be my first child. But tbh I think I'll just wait and go through the NHS as would be nice to save as much money as possible whilst both DH and I are still working.. Every penny counts especially these days

SqidgeBum · 03/04/2020 12:24

@HarrietM87 yes I know what they test for. I had it done on my last pregnancy. I am having the tests.

I also know having as child before doesnt effect the results. I am simply calmer on this pregnancy and more accepting of whatever will happen will happen. If the baby has issues, then I know either way, whether its through private tests or nhs. There is still nothing I can do to change the situation, so I will deal with it if/when the time comes.

Sakura54 · 03/04/2020 12:38

@HarrietM87 medium risk?! I thought this was a decent age to have my final kid. I thought the risks were for those over 35... anyhow, I’m patiently waiting for my scan, less than 3 weeks to go crosses fingers

bluebell94 · 03/04/2020 12:40

Scan in an hour and I am a nervous wreck! Will report back after... 😬🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

TangBloodyFastic · 03/04/2020 12:44

@HarrietM87 I'm booked in for my NIPT the end of this month as I'm late 30's and obv the risks are known to be higher

canueve · 03/04/2020 13:12

I am 36 and the midwife wrote I'll be on a midwife-led unit as I am healthy and nothing to worry till now. I know being over 35 is considered old but hoping everything will be straightforward.

I am interested in the harmony test, but haven't looked at cost yet, nor did I know I had to do it by 10 weeks!! ugh!

@bluebell94 hope all goes well today, looking fwd to know how it goes x
